Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia symptoms mucus

pneumonia

Avatar f tn Are there other co-morbid medical conditions present? Pneumonia usually responds well to antibiotics. If the symptoms persist despite the prescribed medications, a repeat chest x-ray or imaging studies may help determine if the infection is still present. Other considerations to be ruled out include allergic issues as well. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn These past two day I have experienced heavy chest pains, shortness of breathe, fatigue, and lots of coughing/ coughing up yellow mucus. I have had bronchiactesis since I was 6. I also have had 99.2 F fever, today. should I see a doctor to know what it is or will it just go away in time?
Avatar f tn I presume that you have not eaten anything that was dark in colour that could have discoloured the mucus. If you have not eaten anything that could make your mucus a dark colour (coffee, chocolate), it would be wise to get seen to by the doctor. In the meantime, make sure that you drink plenty of warm fluids (avoid milk whilst you have lots of mucus) and stay warm. Wrap a scarf around your mouth and nose so that you do not breathe in the cold air when you go outside.
Avatar n tn lol if you dont have thoese symptoms it could be pneumonia.. if the mucus is orange or green and you have not yet gone to the doctor i would go.. if its yellow or light green its viral and they cant do anything take advil and try and sleep..
Avatar f tn m finding it more difficult to cough up any mucus although after using my Beconase nasal spray it is possible to get more mucus when I blow my nose, this mucus is clear. Is there anything I can do to help myself at this stage? I've mainly stayed indoors and away from my pregnant daughter but would like to know if there is anything else I should be doing.
675347 tn?1365460645 Thyme tincture to help that, This morning instead of coughing up white phlegm, I coughed up a bit of slightly blood stained mucus. I also have no appetite, feel queasy now and again, and so weary. There is no pain when I breathe, no more blood stained mucus, but feel very shaky and nervy. I can breathe ok, but feel there is a little bit of mucus stuck deep down that's hard to bring out. lips are not blue or anything.
Avatar n tn Because I have two implanted Neurostimulators, I have to be very careful amd try prevent any bacteria from spreading into my leads Are their some pictures of pneumonia mucus, so that I could compare know if I need to get additional help? The clinic doctor on campus gave me Azithromycin 250 MG tabs. I had to take two today and for the next four days will take one tablet. If I do have pneumonia or etc, would this antibiotic fight it? Sorry for the long post.
Avatar m tn The answer would depend upon whether the cause of the excessive mucus in your throat or lungs is due to infection or allergy. Badly discolored mucus, green or yellow, would suggest infection. If it truly is coming from your lungs, you must have either acute bronchitis or pneumonia, either of which will probably require antibiotic therapy.
Avatar f tn Also, shortness of breath. Did you have any of these symptoms when they found that you had pneumonia on the CT? Obviously if you have a fever see your doctor. Or see him if you feel that it could be pneumonia. Other things you could try if you don't have a fever and you think it is a virus, is to steam yourself in the shower and/or with a bowl of hot water and breath in the steam to make yourself cough and break up any tightness in the lungs.
Avatar f tn But it is usually a result of some other kinda bug thats not treated resulting in that it causes fluid on the lungs, which takes a while to turn into pneumonia. If you arnt having symptoms of the original chest cold, or flu your fine.
Avatar m tn Great if someone could shed some light on the above. I have similar concerns. Had a fire in my kitchen in late 2014, with extensive exposure to smoke and soot, but also cement dust during renovation. 4-6 weeks after the fire I got mucus hypersecretion plugging the airways (never had such thick, deep phlegm in my life!). Went to see my GP and she said I *HAD HAD* pneumonia but that it had been conquered.
Avatar m tn I was originally suffering from some wheezing and lung crackles at end of inhaling, also had trouble catching my breath when exercising. Crackles would mostly disapear for awhile if I coughed enough yelllow mucus up. It then moved away from those symptoms and turned into nasal congestion and post-nasal drip, also had persistent cough and yellow mucus was still being coughed up, just didnt feel as deep as before. Here are some photos I took of my throat.
Avatar m tn So about a week and a half ago I was diagnosed with bronchitis/ walking pneumonia. He said that it was bronchitis but then he found a specific spot and said it was pneumonia in its beginning stages. He gave me the blue inhaler, azithromycin (I'm allergic to penicillin), and told me to take tylenol four times a day. My symptoms leading up to this were dry cough, wheezing, and coughing fits so violent it set off my gag reflex and it has hard to breath.
Avatar f tn I am 38 year old female. I had pneumonia 6 months ago, which was treated with antibiotics. I got well but my cough continued. I cough (mostly dry with some mucus) throughout the day and it cough bouts are horrible at nights. I ignored the cough thinking it will fade away. Few months ago, I started experiencing breathlessness and tightness in chest alongwith coughing. My doctor said it was allergy and prescribed some medicines for lowering eosinophil count. It did not work.
Avatar f tn My husband had emergency bypass surgery four days ago and his heart is now OK but they say he's developed pneumonia. I'm EXTREMELY scared about this! What should he/we do? We are not in the States now so it's important I get good guidance to deal with this in a developing country. Any PARTICULAR drug he should take for this? What can I do for him? Help!
994239 tn?1321203620 Hello, Cough and/or coughing up phlegm are symptoms you may not necessarily have. The definitive diagnosis of pneumonia is based on chest xray with combination of symptoms. So, your situation is possible. I remember I had pneumonia as a child with the only symptom of vomiting. My mother took me to the hospital and a diagnosis of pneumonia was made based on my chest xray.
Avatar n tn What does it mean when I have very thick mucus with blood on it comes out of my throat?
Avatar m tn YOu could easily have a lung infection of sorts. You need to see a doctor who will examine you properly and order appropriate tests if necessary especially because you are running temps and having colored sputum. Maybe you need antibiotics. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn The albuterol inhaler will break up the mucus. There are other asmthmatic meds you can use in the inhaler. The use of prednisone while you have an infection is controversial. I know they use it. The problem is that the prednisone sometimes makes the infections go out of control. Make sure you take vitamin D3. Use an expectorant and observe the color of the sputem. As long as it is yellowish you have an infection. Make a daily log of the color. Many physicians never ask to see the sputem.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar n tn My fiance has pneumonia and pleurisy. The mucus has changed from yellow to frothy white or cream colored. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn Last month I developed a cold but then it became pneumonia after going to school in the rain. Now, this occurred a few weeks ago. I went to the hospital and was prescribed antibiotics and other things for it. It made me feel better, however, after using up all of them, I noticed that I am still coughing up mucus/phlegm and I hear a slight vibrating sound in my lungs when I lay down. I need to know, is this just residual stuf that my body is getting rid of??
Avatar n tn its pneumonia, and you can have no other symptoms. I didnt have any other symptoms. Im on antibiotics but in a lot of pain. Ibuprofin works though. This discussion is related to Sharp Upper Back pain.
Avatar m tn Rust like mucus indicates blood is in the mucus. You need antibiotics before it goes into pneumonia. If you have antibiotics, have finished them and you still are having problems you probably need stronger antibiotics or take them for a longer period of time. Go back to the clinic.
