Avatar f tn I can't answer your other questions, but I would strongly recommend that you stay home from work as much as you can, and if you are able to telework, do that for as long as you can. You need to rest to help get rid of it and going to work, even if you have a desk job, is going to prolong your illness.
Avatar m tn this persisted several months until i developed an acute infection and was diagnosed with pneumonia and given 2 weeks of clarithromycin, when i visited the hospital i was told that my blood test indicated the presence of a bacterial infection. the pneumonia symptoms did not completely resolve so i was given another 2 weeks of clarithromycin which seemed to resolve the coughing to a manageable level. after this point the coughing gradually declined until it stopped completely.
Avatar f tn Yes I did tell them. The pneumonia symptoms are starting to clear up I don't have a fever, never had a cough, starting to breathe better, and I have a lot more energy but still a bit light headed and throat is kind of sore and my voice hasn't return fully. I have been tested will get the results tomorrow.
Avatar m tn Could be allergies, yes once you have had pneumonia you will have scarring ..it wont affect you, check out online for environmental allergies .
Avatar f tn Yes “walking pneumonia” is contagious. The development of more symptoms, in the face of antibiotic therapy, is worrisome as is the “side pain” which I assume to be pleurisy and suggests that this infection may fall into the category of complicated pneumonia. In this circumstance you should definitely request careful reevaluation by your doctor or his designate to include at a minimum a repeat chest X-ray, a complete blood count and culture of your sputum.
Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Avatar f tn Have anyone started feeling dizzy, weak and hard to breath sitting or standing but OK laying down while taking medicine for pneumonia and how long do it last or should I go back to the ER.
Avatar f tn The past few days I thought I had a minor cold since I was coughing a bit, have a headache, and feel a bit of pressure while breathing. I figured I would just wait it out because a cold isn't anything to worry about. Well, my husband had the same symptoms as well, but when he woke up today, it was harder for him to breathe so he went to the hospital and found out he had walking pneumonia but was given nothing to treat it because they said he has to get over it himself.
Avatar m tn My mother was diagnosed at 52 with MS, and none of the treatments seem to be helping. She started getting sick around 45 and was constantly coming down with pneumonia. Recently, I have noticed joint pain and went to my general practitioner. When I mentioned cold hands with a tingling/numb sensation, sharp chest pains when I breath in, as well as multiple joint pain, she suggested it could be Lupus, arthritis, or Raynard's.
Avatar f tn One might suspect that you have underlying asthma and that when you get a viral infection each year, it triggers pneumonia –like symptoms. I would suggest getting a pulmonary function test while you are sick to see if this is, indeed, asthma. If this is not the case, another possible reason is that the local immune system in your lungs is not protecting you from the infection. This is usually an antibody problem and can be checked with a blood test.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar m tn Went to the doctor today and they said this was caused by pneumonia. does ars cause pneumonia? Asked the doctor about the rash, she didn't know what it was but gave me a cream for it.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a 36 year old asthmatic woman and I take 250 seretide evohaler 2 puffs twice daily. I got pneumonia 2 months ago (end of August) and I still feel tired, no energy. Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
1353681 tn?1387083733 I believe I have an upper respiratory infection.. the one with the drawn out, long, hard cough :( I do feel mucous now, after a week, but also noticed a couple mins of wheezing with it earlier. It has not come in several hours since then, but someone said wheezing is a symptom of pneumonia. I don't have any other symptoms of pneumonia though, like fever, sweats, or chills. Is it possible an upper respiratory infection can have wheezing sometimes too and it is NOT pneumonia?
Avatar f tn I ave just been diagnosed with pneumonia. Will this leave me with permanent lung damage. I feel very short of breath.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I am a 33 year old female who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism years ago. I had pneumonia back in June, and since then I have had a slew of symptoms. I'm trying to figure out IF they were triggered somehow by the pneumonia? Symptoms are: Lump in throat, dry skin and hair, increased anxiety and depression, muscle weakness and jerks, difficulty gripping, yeast infections, ringing in ears, cold intolerance, night sweats.
Avatar f tn I have had bronchitis 3 times, pneumonia once, and a sinus infection once...in the past 3 months. I feel confused alot. My blood test show highly elevated white blood cells. First it was my lymphocytes, then it was my neutraphils, then it was my lymphocytes. Then my WBC dropped to a normal level, but my neutrophils were really low. The doc says she thinks its an autoimmune disease, a blood production disease or cancer.
5915818 tn?1377748240 Good luck..three weeks is a long time.
Avatar f tn I'm 21 years old. I've been sick for about 6 weeks now. My symptoms are extreme fatigue, weight loss (about 12 pounds), difficulty breathing, and bruising very easily. I just checked out of the hospital yesterday, where I was admitted for pneumonia and a high WBC count. When I checked out, I was told my WBC is still too high, and that I'll need to get it checked soon.
645390 tn?1338555377 Michelle, I am sorry to hear of the death of your family member. You are probably correct in that the pneumonia and stress most likely contributed to this TN uproar. Yes, I would go to the ER. Lu's idea of calling your doc is good and would justify you being there. I know that decadron for 3 days by moth helps make my TN bearable. They can also give decadron IV which should give you more immediate relief and continue the rest by mouth to finish the course. Lu is right seek help.
