Avatar f tn I have a horrible cough. So 5 days ago I went to the Urgent Care and Dr said probably pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics, prednisone, and albuterol. It has been 5 days. The fevers are just higher. They dont even get better with ibuprofen. I can't function. I have small kids. I feel to sick to drive to the doctor. I need help. My cough is a lot better, my chest doesnt hurt as bad but these fevers are killing me. Any ideas? I've never felt so terrible.
Avatar f tn t have any symptoms in May. I never even had a cold so I had no idea about the pneumonia... I am a healthy female with no other health problems. Please help. This discussion is related to Pneumonia that won't go away.
Avatar m tn The vaccine I believe your doctor is referring to, is Pneumovax...which protects against Pc disease. It is only given to elderly (age 65 and older) and/or those who have an already existing immunodificiency disorder. The other brand of Pc vaccine is called Prevnar and is given to infants and children under the age of 5; however...I don't know why this vaccine couldn't be given to an adult....ask your doctor what s/he thinks; although, doctors are not medically trained in vaccinations...

1468105 tn?1287151463 In that case the current CT scan findings could be the residual of that pneumonia. Histoplasmosis is endemic in the entire Ohio river valley and beyond, in the Midwest. The diagnosis can be either strongly suggested or confirmed by serologic testing. The complement fixation (CF) and immuno-diffusion tests peak 2 to 3 months after infection and decline over 2 to 5 years. The sensitivity of serologic testing is increased by performing both complement fixation and immuno-diffusion.
Avatar f tn Do you have any blurry eyes, watery eyes in am, or crust in corners, red eyes? Also that pneumonia you had (could have been clamydia pneumonia, which is called that, but is NOT from sexually transmitted clamydia) and can also cause the reactive arthritis. I have done extensive research on this arthritis and also the ankylosing spondylitis in past few weeks and you should have rheumatologist look at these. I have spine pain now.

Avatar f tn It is almost reminiscent of the onset of a case of pneumonia I had 5 years ago. Tonight I started getting chills, which lasted for about an hour with no fever, and while those have stopped for the moment, my back is continuing to feel sore (in the middle, just under where my bra strap crosses). It does not hurt to move. Gently rubbing my back makes me feel better in that moment. I do not have a fever.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia in early Jan. Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia?
Avatar f tn i have been showing signs of pneumonia lately and also felt a small bum under my armpit but cannot see anything. what i want to know is can the axillary lymph node be linked to pneumonia because usually i hear it swells in the neck? i also was using doxycycline 100 mg and septra for chlamydia. its kinda strange how pneumonia just popped up a while after my chlamydia and cleared up. i am really freaking out im going for a test today.
Avatar f tn s baby girl, who is 10 months old, has had a high fever for 5 days straight. No ear infection, strep, pneumonia. No symptoms besides the fever; she seems happy. Any causes for this?
Avatar n tn My children 5 1/2 and 2 year old both have been diagnosed with near sightedness. The 5 year old started with -2.5 and within 8 months jumped to -5.75. I am really concerned about the sudden increase. The opthamologist did not find any other problems with her eyes. I have been reading on the internet about some books claiming eye exercises helping them improve their vision.. has anyone had success? or has anyone tried contact lenses for such young children to help control the increase?
Avatar f tn My step son has pneumonia and I'm 11 weeks and 5 days. I'm the only one home to take care of him today. He's only 4 years old so I bought masks and lysol, hand sanitizer and took vitamin C. I'm really worried I'm going to catch it. Is there anything else I should be doing to prevent it? Thanks.
Avatar n tn On the sixth day, I was in real bad shape. I had sharp shooting pains in my back, right side under my ribs, muscle spasms, and shooting pains in my right shoulder. I could not walk, lay down, or sit with out pain . I called the doctor and they said to discontinue the inhaler since the pain got worse five minutes after I used it and to get another x-ray done. I went to the hosptiol and got an x-ray done. I asked if they saw the knife still stuck in my side (that's how it felt).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia (Odd, seeing how I had not coughed one time and had no typical symptoms). Fast forward a month, I finally get clear chest xrays, but that sharp pain still remained on the right side, under my bottom rib (or two). I've had two CTs and several xrays, and here I am almost 5 months later with no progress. The pain occurs at the bottom of a full breath (or yawn).

Avatar n tn My 4 year old daughter has had pneumonia all her life, now she had developed athma, no big surprise. She see her lung specialist regularly and we do every thing they say to do. I have all but given up hope that she will ever be a normal functioning little girl. I need help, nobody is giving me answers and nobody is helping her with this. Does any body know of a doctor that is capable of knowing what to do.
Avatar n tn on a nebulizer 4 times a day. Had a family vacation in NC with 5 children, spouses and 14 grandchildren coming up in June which I couldn't imagine missing. Family internist gave me a 3 month shot of steroids(never had that before) and Pulmonoligist gave me a vacation pack of steroid pills and antibiotic in case I caught something...I did not have to use the vacation pack and the shot was absolutely miraculous! For the the first time in a year and a half, I felt like my old self!
Avatar f tn Staph infections, especially MRSA infections, are very common in children in that area. She should continue to follow up with the dermatologist as needed at this point since it's not unusual for staph infections of the skin to come back repeatedly.
Avatar f tn I'm 21 years old. I've been sick for about 6 weeks now. My symptoms are extreme fatigue, weight loss (about 12 pounds), difficulty breathing, and bruising very easily. I just checked out of the hospital yesterday, where I was admitted for pneumonia and a high WBC count. When I checked out, I was told my WBC is still too high, and that I'll need to get it checked soon.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been reading your post and researching a bit to see if I can be of help, as your child sounds quite ill in his lower respiratory tract. The RSV can be a serious virus in young children. Were you told much about it? Did the pulmonologist (hopefully you're seeing a specialist!) explain why he/she thinks your son was having these difficulties? Usually a full term baby - even one with asthma doesn't have so many other respiratory disorders.
Avatar m tn What you describe could be an allergic infection but your second suggestion, aspiration, is more likely. Children under the age of 6 are quite prone to the aspiration of peanuts, with or without the chocolate coating, known as M & Ms and these should be avoided in that age group. Aspiration is a common event. The aspiration can lead to bronchitis or pneumonia, often with cough and the cough may persist for a long time. Food is one type of foreign body that is aspirated.

Avatar n tn My 16 month old male Siberian Husky has had what our vet is saying is pneumonia for a week and a half now. His symptoms before we brought him in were extreme fatigue, coughing and hacking up mucus multiple times an hour, runny nose then very stuffed nose, difficulty breathing and a slight fever (103). We had an xray done and they saw cloudy-ness all throughout his lungs, which led them to believe it was a bacterial pneumonia and not aspiration pneumonia.
Avatar n tn I’m a 61 year old male & have smoking pot nearly every day for about 4 years. I have been wheezing for about 2 months. Last week I coughed up a large wad of very red blood & my tonsils felt swollen. I don’t have a cough. Then nothing until again this morning I coughed up a little blood mixed with spit. I have been under a lot of stress lately & have lost a dear pet. Any ideas of what I might have? Thank you.
