Avatar f tn Hi, is your WBC under 20? It sounds as if you just have the effects of pneumonia. It will likely take a while to get over that. I'd ask on the pneumonia forum. Easy bruising from lymphoma would have shown up as low platelets on your WBC.

11702305 tn?1420502553 With most medications that you buy or are prescribed, comes an information leaflet that does warn people of normal side effects and serious side effects. If an information leaflet does not come with your medication, information with regard to side effects can be found on the web. Of course, one person may be OK with a particular medication, but it may not suit another person. For example, some people are OK taking amoxicillin whilst others are allergic to it.

Avatar m tn My husband has a G-tube for all food, meds, hydration resulting from radiation to tongue years ago. His major problem is aspiration pneumonia since the valve to his airway(s) does not close and is in open position constantly. Reflux of food and gases causes repeated pneumonia episodes, the latest resulting in more than 2 months in 4 hospitals and extreme loss of weight. He is facing jejunostomy in the very near future. We are told that later, fundoplication may be great help to him.
Avatar m tn Different routes of drug administration also produce different side effects. Intravenous users frequently develop illnesses associated with the preparation of drugs for use (i.e., mixing/making) and the use or sharing of unsterile needles, including HIV infection, hepatitis, tuberculosis, lung infections and pneumonia, bacterial or viral endocarditis, cellulitis, wound abscesses, sepsis, thrombosis, renal infarction, and thrombophlebitis (Sowder and Beschner, 1993; Gold, 1997).
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor about a week ago when my symptoms were at its worse, intense wheezing, especially at night, runny nose, cough, and sneezing, that what was pretty much all I had but the wheezing was the worst part (I could hear myself breathing). My first doc prescribe me albuterol, prednisone and a z pack, I took eveything and started feeling better. My symptoms never fully went away so I went back to the doctor today and I tested positive for walking pneumonia.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 22 year old woman, I don`t smoke, I was treated with levaquin for community acquired pneumonia for a little more than a month (horrible side effects), I was in the hospital 3 times, for 5 days in two of them (the second one was a relapse) and only ER the third one. What is unnusual for me is that the last hospital diagnosed me acute bronchitis and the other ones pneumonia,(the gap between the 2nd and the third hospital was 2 weeks, is this logical???).

I am not allowed to refer you to my blog but I know that Dr.Mercola did a great blog with references on his website so you can read more THERE. What to take instead? Avatar f tn I recently developed bronchial pneumonia and got worse after having side effects to ethromycine antibiotics. Before I got the pneumonia my doctor had switched my hiv meds to triumeq which was 2 and half month before getting the pneumonia. Before then I felt perfectly heathy and my cd count was in the 600s and viral load undetected. NOW I HAVE PAIN ALL THE TIME ESPECIALLY IN THE WALLS OF MY CHEST. it feels like muscle ache or something. Could my new hiv drug been the cause of the pneumonia.
955491 tn?1253935699 It might be worth it to see a dermotologist about the rash that continues. I was under the impression that it would eventually go away as the chemo leaves one's system. It's possible, however, it made you develop some kind of fungus that a topical cream or oral medication might be able to help. I was lucky in that it didn't do anything to me except the mouth sores and thrush. It took a while for that to go away, and I still have issues with it 2 years out from Doxil.
Avatar m tn When your cd4 falls below 200. You wouldn't have PCP within 45 days of infection.
Avatar f tn If your immune system fought it off, I would say that your baby is okay. Since you're sharing your blood and immune system with the baby right now, s/he shouldn't have any effects from pneumonia.
Avatar f tn Yes I did tell them. Avatar m tn I understand that most of the people who are hospitalised mainly die as a result of pneumonia. Does this mean that anybody who has had a pneumonia vaccination will be protected from this aspect of the infection and therefore have a greater chance of survival?
Avatar m tn Could be allergies, yes once you have had pneumonia you will have scarring ..it wont affect you, check out online for environmental allergies .
Avatar f tn Yes “walking pneumonia” is contagious. The development of more symptoms, in the face of antibiotic therapy, is worrisome as is the “side pain” which I assume to be pleurisy and suggests that this infection may fall into the category of complicated pneumonia. In this circumstance you should definitely request careful reevaluation by your doctor or his designate to include at a minimum a repeat chest X-ray, a complete blood count and culture of your sputum.
Avatar m tn Any ill effects on getting two shots of pneumonia vaccine within 3 years, I am unable to find anything on the net regarding this, please help. Thanks...
Avatar f tn In the past year, I have been treated for pneumonia like symptoms with chronic cough. Recently, I have a rash and the pharmacist thinks both these conditions are caused by my Sotalol. My doctor has stopped the Sotalol and put me on Varapamil until I can see my cardiologist. The cough is improving but still a very liquid raspy cough. Do you think this would be caused by Sotalol and what are the long term effects.
Avatar f tn You can get a throat culture to see if you carry it. But since you have symptoms you should probably see a specialist. Your symptoms could be caused by something else too.
Avatar m tn I went to the Dr and was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. He put me on medication, and told me I would feel fatigued for about two weeks. I actually felt pretty good after a week. While on medication I started getting extreme gas. I figured it was the medication. It's been 3 weeks since I stoppped the medication (4 weeks since potential exposure) and I still have extreme gas. I also tend to get diarrhea every once in a while.
Avatar f tn One might suspect that you have underlying asthma and that when you get a viral infection each year, it triggers pneumonia –like symptoms. I would suggest getting a pulmonary function test while you are sick to see if this is, indeed, asthma. If this is not the case, another possible reason is that the local immune system in your lungs is not protecting you from the infection. This is usually an antibody problem and can be checked with a blood test.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
