Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
620048 tn?1358018235 It might be the flare that is causing your recovery to be super slow or something is still brewing in your lungs. Also, did you do steroids for this flare? I don't recall if you did or not. Did you get any speech training to help with trying to prevent aspiration while you were in the hospital? I hope you make a turn for the better in the coming week. You have certainly paid your dues with this illness and flare.
Avatar f tn Did your son require surgery? And how was his recovery? We are in the adoption process and considering a young girl with this heart problem and I have talked to drs at CHOP and Hopkins and get hopeful at times and then discourage at other time and we have three kids at home.

Avatar n tn In most cases, Kennel Cough is more annoying to the owner than it is to the dog, because the dog hacks and coughs at all hours making it difficult for the owner to sleep or concentrate on anything but the hacking sound. In some instances, though, it does worsen to the point where it CAN cause pneumonia, and the fact that he had the cloudiness in his chest x-rays and it doesn't seem to be responding to antibiotics sure looks like a case of Kennel Cough that has gotten much worse.
Avatar n tn Hi, I completely agree that the earlier patient movement the better it is. I’ll suggest you to discuss the same with the treating physician as there must be some attending problem that she’s not able to walk. The problem could be osteoarthritis of the knees or hips, she could have developed the complication of DVT (deep venous thrombosis) resulting in pain & thus difficulty in walking or it could be due shortness of breath which can result from poorly functioning heart.
Avatar n tn She is very tiny for her age, she only weighs 38 pounds on a good day. She was diagnosed with asthma as a baby. She frequently gets sick and gets pneumonia in the winter time. She started running fever and not feeling well shortly after Christmas. There was a bug going around so I didn't think much of it. I gave her asthma medication to her regularly and she rested a lot over the weekend and seemed to feel better. She continued to run fever each afternoon (anywhere from 99.
Avatar f tn There can be honest disagreement among experts about the management of RML atelectasis, bronchiectasis and recurrent pneumonia, despite appropriate, intense medical treatment, in young children with a normal immune system. There is general agreement, however that, when localized bronchiectasis, especially of the RML, becomes refractory, more severe or resistant to medical management, lobar resection may be warranted.
Avatar f tn A few months ago, my mother was diagnosed with pneumonia. After a round of antibiotics and breathing treatments, she was pronounced well. Since being cured of the pneumonia, she developed diverticultis. This was quite a surprise. Mom is very healthy -- she is 70 and takes care of everyone else. She is very diligent about eating yogurt and taking her probiotics, often scolding others to do the same, especially while on antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I am 28 and the doctors thought I had pneumonia, when in fact I had 18% LVF and on deaths door! But they finally found out via a scan that it was heart failure and I was given meds and I'm now doing great, but on higher doses. My heart functions back to normal now but I can't help but wonder if anyone else as young as me has this problem? Seems so unfair, considering I'm not that unhealthy to be deserving this.
Avatar n tn Hi and sorry you are ill. It takes 1-3 weeks to get over viral pneumonia but it can take a little longer depending on your age and health. You could have a secondary bacterial infection that you can get after viral pneumonia that is called walking pneumonia and is caused by either bacteria called Mycoplasma or Chlamydia pneumoniae. "Walking" pneumonia gives you a low grade fever, tiredness, dry hacking cough, pain in the ribs area. They can check for these by testing and culture.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a 36 year old asthmatic woman and I take 250 seretide evohaler 2 puffs twice daily. I got pneumonia 2 months ago (end of August) and I still feel tired, no energy. Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
Avatar n tn That is to say that while you may have experienced clinical recovery, 3 weeks before the first test, your lungs may still have been in a recovery phase and thus, may not yet have functionally reached baseline. In other words the two test results are not comparable. A better comparison would be with PFT’s done some time in the past when you were not recovering from anything. The second set of test results are practically WNL and, as such, cast doubt about the diagnosis of COPD.
Avatar f tn I probably should have put this on the autism forum, but since I know most every one here, and we all have more in common I felt more comfortable just venting here. I am sorry for not keeping in touch the past few weeks. first week pneumonia, second approved for chemo, third no chemo, forth no chem. I dont even want to know what the ca125 is since my numbers are always running pretty high, anyway I am sorry.
Avatar f tn I had the flu (a long with my husband and children) we were all really sick for about 5 days. Everyone got over it except for me. I don't feel like it is the flu now though. I have a horrible cough. So 5 days ago I went to the Urgent Care and Dr said probably pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics, prednisone, and albuterol. It has been 5 days. The fevers are just higher. They dont even get better with ibuprofen. I can't function. I have small kids. I feel to sick to drive to the doctor.
1733547 tn?1310332865 Any advise is much appreciated. Please keep in mind that, although my recovery has been miraculous (I am in shape and am doing light aerobics daily), I only came out of the coma about a month ago. Thanks.

Avatar f tn I am not a doctor but I have Googled your question and this is what I found: "Pneumonia in children and adults is caused by bacteria, virus, fungi or protozoa. Out of these, bacteria are the most common microorganisms, that have been found to cause pneumonia. These microorganisms usually enter the body through mouth, nose and eyes, and then infect the lungs, especially the air sacs or alveoli of the lungs. Pneumonia is more commonly found to affect the lower lobes of the lungs.
Avatar n tn on a nebulizer 4 times a day. Had a family vacation in NC with 5 children, spouses and 14 grandchildren coming up in June which I couldn't imagine missing. Family internist gave me a 3 month shot of steroids(never had that before) and Pulmonoligist gave me a vacation pack of steroid pills and antibiotic in case I caught something...I did not have to use the vacation pack and the shot was absolutely miraculous! For the the first time in a year and a half, I felt like my old self!
Avatar f tn I had pneumonia while pregnant with my daughter. i was put on a safe antibiotic and cough syrup and was fine in no time. You will be fine and so will your baby. Don't worry! Just get lots of rest and keep hydrated.
Avatar m tn I came down with Pneumonia in both lungs almost 1 year ago. I was in hospital for 1 week and given all sorts of antibiotics for a period a little over 1 month. My breathing is pritty good now, however i still do not feel quite right. I have days where i feel very weak, tired and generally ill. Why do you think this could be? I also for example when lifting something heavy get chest pains which last a day or two and go away.
Avatar n tn My 2 year old had pneumonia 3 months ago and made a full recovery after heavy duty antibiotics... a week ago he developed a cough that had him coughing about three times in a row every 4 or 5 hours. About 3 days ago he started coughing at night. He would wake up about midnight cough 3 or 4 times hard and repeat about every three hours. Last night he coughed about every 1 to 2 hours and coughed so hard he almost threw up several times.
Avatar f tn My eleven year old daughter suffers from chronic cough, chronic pneumonia. She has every test known to man ( I think) and a few surgeries, both exploratory and for sinus surgery. Despite being treated by a team of doctors, no one can pinpoint a reason for the continuing pneumoias. She has been tested and treated for reflux, asthma, sinusitis, immunology. She is becoming resistant to antibiotics and we are very frightened for her.
Avatar n tn It was repaired two days later. She suffered aspiration pneumonia and a UTI fungal infection in the hospital. She was finally transferred to a rehabiliation center after being in the hospital for 4 weeks. In the rehab center, they told us she now has MRSA pneumonia. What are her chances of overcoming all of this? She is on a trach and at times seems very coherent. How much longer do we let her endure all of this? She never says she's in pain or uncomfortable.
