Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia recovery h1n1

pneumonia

Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a 36 year old asthmatic woman and I take 250 seretide evohaler 2 puffs twice daily. I got pneumonia 2 months ago (end of August) and I still feel tired, no energy. Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
419309 tn?1326503291 There's been lots of discussion about seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccination, but many people tend to forget how dangerous pneumonia can be, especially if you have a chronic condition. Over 40,000 deaths occur every year in the US alone due to pneumonia -- and it's preventable! The CDC recommends certain people get the pneumonia vaccine: * All adults 65 years of age and older.
363110 tn?1340920419 Just curious to see if there are any forum members who've had H1N1, not the vaccine the actual flu bug it'sself. How seriously did you get it? I'm going in tomorrow for a nasal swab to see if that's what I've got right now. Basically I had my seasonal flu shot, but H1N1 wasn't out yet. We've had a nasty bug going around our home, and my OB thought maybe it was a gastrointerological thing, except I'm not dealing with any diarreah.
279234 tn?1363105249 t worth testing for the H1N1 anyway right now because 99% of the influenza cases are all H1N1. There is little doubt that H1N1 is what you had. The seasonal flu hasn't really made its appearance yet. Remember that millions of cases of 2009 H1N1 are going on with the deaths still numbering less than 1200 in this country. Glad to see you back, but stay as rested as you can. You'll likely be low on energy for weeks. It sounds like the steroids were having some effect.
Avatar f tn Last year, I got both shots and had no problems w/the H1N1 vax. I just wanted to let you know that in case you might be wondering about the H1N1 part. In fact, I really didn't hear of any ill effects in the news from anybody taking the H1N1 shot.
1051392 tn?1255469391 hey well i have anout 3 weeks clean but my 16 son donavan has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and is in the hosptial he has pneumonia and possible H1N1 he gets pneumonia alot i thought i cought it early but its the H1N1 that is scaring the **** out of me right now. i have three other boys so i have been going crazy trying to be with donavan and still spend time with them energy is still not back and i know how easy i could get it back but i wont do that!!
Avatar f tn Overall, when you see blood, you begin to think of the worst. But, just exactly what caregiver222 said, its not always lethal. But the way you're describing it could be a harsh case of Pneumonia or Tuberculosis. Either way, they both are difficult to have. I've had a lot of experiences with Pneumonia myself, and i'm 17. In addition, this could also be H1N1 starting to kick in, but don't start to worry about that.
938718 tn?1323783514 45 PM ET Background Human infections with a swine influenza A (H1N1) virus that is easily transmissible among humans were first identified in April 2009 with cases in the United States and Mexico. The epidemiology and clinical presentations of these infections are currently under investigation. There are insufficient data available at this point to determine who is at higher risk for complications of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection.
Avatar n tn I've read that the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus causes a lot of body aches and pains, but if it's only in your chest, I'd be willing to bet it's pneumonia. Pneumonia always hurts deep inside.
Avatar n tn In light of the current H1N1 epidemic, and because I'm in my sixties, I'm wondering how hard flu is on the heart. I've just recently been diagnosed with PVCs and have about 8000 a day. Since I'll be unable to get that flu vaccine , I'm concerned that the H1N1 flu might really put a strain on my heart and lungs if I'd catch it from my grandkids. What do you think?
898849 tn?1241811271 I read a recent newstory that stated that Swine flu can be potentially more lethal in people with heart disease because medications used to reduce fluid build up in their lungs will fail to work as effectively if they catch the flu, also the stress of trying to fight off a fever can be too much for their hearts. Cardiologists are recommending that patients with heart disease be among the first to receive the Swine Flu vaccine.
147426 tn?1317265632 I wanted to give everyone the heads up that Legalgirl5, Susie, was hospitalized for 8 days with H1N1 and pneumonia. She became suddenly ill, with a temp near 107* (brain damage level), and spent several days on the brink with bacterial pneumonia and the flu. She is home now and off the oxygen, but is very weak and has had major new neurologic symptoms - a clear and severe relapse. She was in the hospital during the first week in December.
611067 tn?1458591483 I've been away for awhile because I caught the dreaded H1N1 virus and even before that was feeling sick a lot. Now I have pneumonia and just started and antibiotic yesterday. . .but all my cats have also gotten sick. First Katie had runny eyes and was lethargic and seemed to be feeling yucky. Then Roxy seemed to have the same problem, then Charlies, then Rusty and now Abby. They all had the watery eyes and the same eye seemed to be bothering them.
Avatar f tn Please keep my 12 yr. old nephew Anthony in your prayers, who contracted the H1N1 flu and has difficulty breathing. His mother is a nurse, so he is well take care of, but I just sensed this was going to happen to one of the members of my family. God bless...
973741 tn?1342342773 So, what do you think? Back in the day when I was more involved in the medical world, the big fear with the flu wasn't so much the actual flu which feels horrible, don't get me wrong, but the secondary infections that people got. Pneumonia being a big one and I've read more and more about sepsis post flu. Do you think the flu shot could ultimately save lives or is it a waste of time?
Avatar n tn I got swine flu on July 3rd 2009, my temperture was 103 went to the hospital they put me in isolation for 2 weeks, my oxygen was 61, it was horrible could not breath, I am not a smoker that probably save me from alot more suffering, but the flu gave me an pneumonia and nodules and infiltration in both lungs, the doctor tells me now I have boop, I wish the swine flu vaccine was available before I got sick but it was'nt, I was one of the first to have swine flu at this hospital, I hear now the
Avatar n tn I had the flu shot and was sick on and off for 2 weeks, really sick and sore for a good week. I will not have the H1N1. In my area they had a story on excessive high levels of mercury. The medical director in our area stated there are excessively high levels however that out weighs the risks of getting it. So for today and tomorrow that might be true.
Avatar f tn I have read a lot of negatives about the H1N1 vaccine, even some really wild conspiracy theories about the government trying to keep population down by putting poison in the vaccine. What do you all feel about it?
Avatar n tn I have had flu like symptoms for 10-12 days including a lower grade fever for 10 days (99-101 degrees). I called the doctor 10 days ago and they said it was likely h1n1 and not to come in, because they are not testing or treating with any anti virals at this point. They said just to go to the ER if had difficulty breathing.
168348 tn?1379357075 Pregnant women who are otherwise healthy have been severely impacted by the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (formerly called “novel H1N1 flu” or “swine flu”). In comparison to the general population, a greater proportion of pregnant women infected with the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus have been hospitalized. In addition, severe illness and death has occurred in pregnant women.
Avatar n tn I had h1n1 and then had a chest xray and was diagnosed with pneumonia. The results of the xray also showed Ectasia of the thoracic aorta. What does this mean? Do I have an anuersym? I am overweight and have Mitral Valve Prolapse and take Toprol 50ml for my MVP. Can the inflammed chest wall give this reading or should I be concerned and see a cardiologist? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar m tn Not worried at all, I have a immune system for a reason, let it work. H1N1 is still just another type of the flu, the only reason it is so big is because of the media. I have only ever got the flu once, and not once have I had a flu shot.
