Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia today and I've been getting radiation for my left breast for cancer for the last three weeks. First, did the radiation weaken my lungs to make me getting pneumonia easier? Secondly should I continue with the radiation while taking antibiotics or wait until I'm over the medicine or just the 48 hours that the doctor said I would be contagious?
Avatar n tn Hello, I am 31 years old, & I smoked for 17 years, and i quit cold turkey yesterday. I was told Friday I have chronic pneumonia & chronic bronchitis. Today I had a hard time, and so I put a patch on. I am sick to my stomach, I am having a very hard time taking a deep breath still, and I am shaky, and feel horrible. I am on strong anti-biotics for the pneumonia and steroids for the inflamation.
Avatar n tn Do not know if i was given antibiotics for bacterial pneumonia or antivirals for viral pneumonia and respiratory syncytial virus, from what i've read those could include ribavirin, tamiflu, relenza, iv antibiotics, amantadine etc. Took an elisa after 6 months of my possible exposure and it came back negative. 1) Does testing under any type of pneumonia viral/bacterial or RSV can give me a false negative?
475555 tn?1469304339 Gee, I'm very sorry it scared you, Mary. Maybe I shouldn't post links to articles meant for doctors and researchers, but this one seemed pretty readable to me. It's impossible to summarize it, though, since it's a detailed analysis of how to interpret all the blood test markers and what they might mean ("might" being the key word here, I think, since none of them is conclusive).
Avatar n tn Where I could find articles about Right carotid artery dissection with pseudo aneurism and what causes it. Thanks.
Avatar n tn There are multiple articles online about all the different symptoms Chronic Fatigue Syndrome can produce, and some of them are similar to MS. (I guess that makes sense, because they both cause problems with nerves- although not the same way...) I am not sure chronic fatigue can cause true mobility problems though. For your sake, I hope your symptoms go away, and you won't have to worry about this again. If not, they will figure it out in time. Patience is the key.
Avatar f tn I have done some research and found articles about a RARE complication after a thyroidectomy, which is Reflex Sympathetic pain. I have told 1 neruologist and 1 neurosurgeon about this and they dismissed me. Do my symptoms correlate to an RSD diagnosis? What is the best treatment and how do i get a Neurologist to believe me? I know it is very uncommon but i understand that the sympathetic nerves along with a possible immune system response could make this the most-likely diagnosis.
Avatar f tn If pneumonia, is this a new pneumonia, a pneumonia condition caused by the flu virus itself, or standard pneumonia(s)? If a standard pneumonia, will a pneumonia shot five years ago give any protection, and/or would one now give any protection? Also, will Tamiflu from 2004 still work?
Avatar n tn t have any previous disease record (except for pneumonia when I was 6) or surgery history (except for wisdom teeth removal in August under local anesthesia). Since I don't know what relates to what, I'll start from the very beginning: Since the beginning of this year I have been getting a LOT of yellow mucus on my throat, which I managed to spit out when coughing.
Avatar m tn My 48 year old husband who is the picture of health, got pneumonia in August of this year. It took him 3 rounds of antibiotics and steroids to get rid of it and has started having an irregular heartbeat since then. Doctors thought is was the steroid making his heart beat faster, but continues after going off of the steroids.
Avatar n tn Both atelectasis and emphysema are included under COPD because of collection of air in alveoli and collection of air in tissues simultaneously, but they have their own physiological pathology hidden behind. Pathophysiology of both the diseases are different and they have different evaluation for concluding diagnosis. If this definition does not clear your doubt, there is more clear way how to differentiate emphysema from atelectasis clinically.
Avatar n tn I did read up on it, online, at the library, everywhere. I know all about the pathophysiology and lack of treatment... but they never really talked about the clinical course and what to expect. If you have any experience seeing this problem and have some sense of the course, I would greatly appreciate the information. Thanks.

Avatar m tn I am unable to read any of the articles and am going to pull my account. The advertisements are blocking all the articles I wish to read about sleep paralysis and sleep apnea. Why even have an article to be shown if you are going to allow ads to block pertinent information. I know this is free for me, but honestly, what a pain in the ***.
Avatar n tn Etiology: Increased pulmonary resistance often develops over time, reversing left-to-right shunting to right-to-left shunting. Deoxygenated blood enters the systemic circulation, causing symptoms of hypoxia (low oxygen level to heart, other organs and skeletal muscle. Hemodynamics consequences: VSDs may develop congestive heart failure. The extra blood flows from the left ventricle through the right ventricle to the lungs and back to the left atrium and on to the left ventricle.

Avatar f tn I have gotten Pneumonia 3 years in a row. I got the flu and Pneumonia shot this year and still got iPneumonia. What is going on with me. My doctor keeps giving me steroids that are blowing me up and not stopping me from catching this illness. Please help. Thank you.
Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar m tn 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia last night. Now she is complaining that she is having lower back pain. Is this kidney infection?
Avatar f tn My baby has been diagnosed with pneumonia, a week ago. She still acts as if she is in pain, and has short rapid breaths. She is on Zeniquin, and a pain med. She was originally in an oxygen kennel for 2 days, and was pretty good when we brought her home. Now it seems like she gets these bouts of gasping for air, her gums are still pink. I am startin to think her vets arent sure what is wrong with her.
