Avatar f tn There are a lot weird viruses this year that hang on and have symptoms that come and go. If you get a fever and/or cough or if you feel a sharp pain when you breath in, or yellow or green sputum then revisit your doctor. Sorry I can't be help at this point.
Avatar m tn He may or may not have t.b., my dad had t.b. and didn't know it... i had similar symptoms, it was an oninvasive t.b. and other pathogens i continue to have problems, he could have a very bad pneumonia, he needs to see a doc. why wait?
Avatar n tn t mean you have TB, but at some point in your life you have been exposed to TB. Usually, a positive TB test is followed up with a chest X-Ray to confirm that you do not have TB. Being exposed to TB does not prevent you from working with the elderly, but having TB would. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I think you are having a lot of anxiety and/or depression over the TB. Why not see a psychiatrist to help you learn to cope with this, and some relaxation skills. You will get better so long as you stick with your medication regimen. This bacteria is slow growing, and slow to die, and this is why you may be on medication for up to 9 months. It's only people who don't follow the medication schedule who will have problems, and even they can get better.
Avatar m tn Lizzie is right. You are conclusively negative. Your doctors will treat you for the Pneumonia, and if diagnosed, the TB. While TB isn't too common, people still get it and the vast majority of people who get TB do not have HIV. You need to let the HIV worry go. You don't have it!

Avatar f tn Sometimes these findings on x-rays can be due to prior infection such as pneumonia and does not need to be TB. However, TB is one potential cause. If you do not have any active signs of infection, it is important to consider a follow-up to make sure the finding goes away or stays stable on a longer interval.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for responding. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist drug. I've learned that most of antihypertensive drugs can cause cough, cough that is so irritating, embarrassing and seems like you're either having pneumonia or tb. There is no turning back for me now that I am taking Tb and anti-fungal drugs. At least, if I indeed have tb, my family gets protected. I stopped taking losartan today and will take a calcium blocker or ace inhibitor instead.
Avatar f tn Opacities which appear as an indistinct haziness or as streaks may indicate infection (e.g. pneumonia or tuberculosis). Bigger rounded opacities may signify a possible malignancy or TB. Multiple pinpoint densities on the upper lung field could also imply tuberculosis. An opacity found on chest x-ray merely suggests a certain diagnosis (like pneumonia, TB , or malignancy). Some other tests are frequently needed to verify the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Certainly, if any time during the administration of fluticasone you were to develop new respiratory or systemic (night sweats or fever) symptoms it would be imperative to thoroughly re-assess the status of your lungs, vis a vis TB. Regarding your question about steroid side effects, the answer is yes; the risk of cataracts and osteoporosis heighten but only with high dose inhaled steroids and, even then, the risk is low.
Avatar m tn She was on Auyrvedic treatment for 3 months, because the doctor could not confirm whether it is TB or pneumonia. The scan this time shows improvement but was confused what it really says.

Avatar f tn my immune system first. I have had 2 booster shots so far and a third scheduled next week as well as TB testing in the next few days. I will also probably need the Hepatitis vaccines. My understanding was that Rebif would not lower my immune system so I am slightly disappointed in my doc's decision. The nurse can't see me for another couple of weeks now. Has anyone else had to do this before starting their interferon treatment?

Avatar f tn My daughter said the doctor mentioned TB but he had a negative result on his TB test. They also mentioned lung cancer. What could this spot on his lung mean ?
Avatar n tn The various causes of hemoptysis in adults are bronchitis, bronchiectasis, TB, necrotizing pneumonia, primary lung cancer. Massive hemoptysis common causes are bronchiectasis, tuberculous and other pneumonias and bronchogenic carcinoma. Dizziness could be due to blood loss causing hypotension. This needs to be investigated immediately by a pulmonologist since it could be serious. Management would depend on the diagnosis. Take care.

Avatar m tn does it hurt to press on your stomach or side such as the upper right or left side or lower right side etc? Do you have night sweats? Hae you been tested for current TB? Do you have a lot of fatigue? Just trying to figure it out. Did you have a cold or flu before this happened?
Avatar f tn I hope you take Doctornee's advice! You don't want to mess around with anything that could be as bad as cancer or TB. If it turns out that TB and cancer are not to blame, then you can go to an immunologist to look for immune diseases. Immune diseases are very rare so it's not likely you have one, but since lung symptoms are common with immune diseases I think it would be better to be safe than sorry and have someone check it out.
445362 tn?1206965718 t know where else to put this question and I really would like some answers. I had tested positive for TB around the age of 2 or so. I am now 31. In the mid-90s when applying for work I was given a TB test and had a very bad reaction. At that time I didn't know I had been treated as a child for a year on Isoniazide. My chest x rays had been clear at the time, but I was treated of course anyways. After the re test I got sick from the test itself. I didn't look into in further.
Avatar m tn Is it possible that lung scarring can be caused by varicella pneumonia? I have had x rays, CT scan, bronchoscopy and no-one has yet been able to teel me the cause of the scarring. I have had x rays many years apart and the scar tissue still exists. I am not ill, have no symptoms yet radiologists suopect PTB, Tuberculosis or lung adenopathy.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think your biggest concern should be about her getting bacterial pneumonia. It might be just a virus for now, but a virus can lead to bacterial pneumonia. If she can't see a doctor because of cost or any other reason, she must go anyway for antibiotics if it turns into a bacterial pneumonia. https://www.webmd.com/lung/bacterial-pneumonia How high is her fever? Does she have these symptoms?
Avatar f tn I had chest X-ray last week which confirmed pneumonia. I had told dr I had been coughing up blood for several days and they asked if it was streaked and I said yes. I saw a description on a web page using the description of looking like a partially scrambled egg and that is what it really looked like, not really streaked but kind of mixed. Now I have been on 500 mg Cipro for 4 of 7 days prescribed but still am coughing up same type of blood mixture.
Avatar f tn A lung infiltrate is any substance that has managed to find its way into lungs and may be caused by of a number of lung diseases such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, pulmonary edema or possible malignancies. Normal lungs show up as dark areas on x-rays because the air inside them allows the x-rays to pass through while infiltrates appear as lighter areas that are more solid that block the passage of x-rays. It is best that you discuss the result with your attending physician for proper evaluation.
