Pneumonia on chest x ray

Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia on chest x ray

pneumonia

Avatar f tn My chest x-ray findings were as follows: Heart size is within normal limits. There is questionable vague increased opacity in the right suprahilar region. The left lung is clear. No pleural effusion is identified. No acute osseous abnormality is seen. Impression: With the clinical history, the possiblility of early pneumonia is not excluded. Can you tell me whether the fact that there are questionable vague increased opacity means that there is a mass in my lung?
Avatar n tn Had a chest X-ray as a follow-up to Thyroid Cancer and they said that looked OK but X-ray showed what looked like old scaring. What does that mean?
Avatar f tn Well defined opacities in lung on X-ray can be due to a benign or malignant nodule, tuberculosis, pneumonia or any infarct or granulomatosis. The opacities can also be diffuse—as seen in as in fluid collection, fibrosis, asbestosis, silicosis, tuberculosis etc. You will need more specialized tests like CT chest for a confirmed diagnosis. If you do not have any symptoms, there may not be a cause of concern, as this may be a benign nodule that may just need an annual follow-up.
Avatar n tn Go to a hospital so that you can have head and chest x-rays. A chest x-ray is the ONLY way to rule out pneumonia. If you are getting the chest X-ray then no reason not to also have the head X-ray. Doctors treat a sinus infection they can see much more rigorously. Then leave with a good strong antibiotic, if it is a sinus infection you might try Avelox.
888988 tn?1241304941 This is very confusing for me because I work in x ray and I have a hard time believing that a nodule as large as 6 cm can be overlooked on a chest x ray. My dad had a routine cxr in Sept '08 which was unremarkable. He had a horse accident in Nov in which he broke the 10th and 11th rib on the right anterior side. Naturally, this was painful, but in March, he started having a fever and bad cough. The chest x ray showed pneumonia in the right lower lobe.
Avatar f tn I recently went to the doctor during a bad viral infection which was not getting better. He did a chest x-ray and told me I had pneumonia and that he would send my x rays to a radiologist for review (standard practice). I took the antibiotics and felt better. The Radiologist report came back reading as follows: "Lungs demonstrate prominence of interstitial markings bilaterally. This may be on the basis of chronic interstitial changes.
Avatar m tn 1) that the pneumonia has gone into a chronic phase, with scarring, not yet evident on plain chest x-ray; 2) that the infection also involved your bronchial tubes, called bronchitis, resulting in a lot of inflammation and you have now developed asthma; and 3) that you are having clots to your lungs and the "pneumonia" was caused by a clot and really was not an infectious pneumonia. With this much time elapsed, the pneumonia should have resolved completely.
Avatar f tn I am very worried about a radiologist’s request for a repeat X-ray after 6 weeks I presented to Gp with chest infection symptoms. He sent me for chest X-ray after 2 days doc rings to say I have to go for another in 6 wks. I am freaking out. Could it be they think I’ve cancer? Clinical history states on form, recent chest infection radiologist requests repeat in 6 wks. What’s difference between chest infection and pneumonia?
Avatar m tn 28/male/non smoker/Asthma/Allergies/GERD. I recently had a chest x-ray for chest tightness and shortness of breath. The x-ray came back normal except the doctor stated in his findings that my interstitium was slightly coarse for my age. What does that mean? I tried doing research about it and all I could find was information about Pulmonary Fibrosis and Hypersensitivity Pneumonia. I am starting to get a little concerned. Any information would be helpful.
Avatar n tn , it cannot be ignored. You must see your doctor and have a plain chest x-ray performed. This may well provide the answer, but if it does not, additional testing may be required. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I went to the ER, had another chest x-ray, and was told I had Viral Pneumonia. I was given different medications (and an inhaler with aerochamber) and sent home. The medicine was actually starting to work until it ran out. I finally got in to see my regular doctor. He examined me and decided something had irritated my lungs. He put me on an Advair inhaler. A week later there was no difference, so I saw the doctor again.
Avatar n tn “The differential diagnosis for patients who present with abnormalities on chest x-ray includes lung cancer, as well as nonmalignant diseases. These include infectious causes such as tuberculosis or pneumonia, or inflammatory conditions such as sarcoidosis. These diseases can result in mediastinal lymphadenopathy or lung nodules, and sometimes mimic lung cancers.” The finding has to be corelated with the symptoms and history of exposure smoking, mining, asbestos, tin, aluminium dust etc.
Avatar n tn I hope this will get the sinus cleared up. No chest x-ray. When he was in hospital with pneumonia he had five x-rays done then.
Avatar f tn 6 weeks ago I was diagnosed with pneumonia through a chest x-ray. I was put on Avelox and an inhaler. Two days later I had to go to the ER b/c the symptoms were worse. Breathing was more difficult. I was then given an antibiotic shot and a Zpac. They did a blood test-WBC was normal. I started to feel better the next week. However, as soon as the antibiotic round was over, my symptoms began to return. I run a low fever on and off all day of 99.
Avatar n tn It is terrific that the repeat x-ray showed much improvement but you should have another x-ray in a month or so to confirm complete resolution of the pneumonia, especially if you are a cigarette smoker.
Avatar f tn If the symptoms persist despite the prescribed medications, a repeat chest x-ray or imaging studies may help determine if the infection is still present. Other considerations to be ruled out include allergic issues as well. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm 20 weeks pregnant and my doctor just called me that mm y tb test is inconclusive. She did 3 times, so she suggested to get a chest xray, but I've had this problem since i was young. I always test positive on the skin or inconclusive in blood testing. I get the x-ray and it's always negative. Should i just skip or go through with x-ray? I'm fine-- no symptoms or anything. I just don't want to put my baby at risk.
Avatar n tn i recently had a chest x ray which shown a shadow on my right lung im 33.i was told it was probably a infection i have had a full blood test and that was ok im am no waiting for a mrsi scan.
Avatar f tn An opacity on the left upper lung field on chest x-ray could mean a lot of things. Did the x-ray reading indicate how big the opacity is, and what it's shape is? Opacities which appear as an indistinct haziness or as streaks may indicate infection (e.g. pneumonia or tuberculosis). Bigger rounded opacities may signify a possible malignancy or TB. Multiple pinpoint densities on the upper lung field could also imply tuberculosis.
Avatar f tn 5 cm lucency in the right lower lung “concerning for a cavitary lesion” was seen on my chest X-ray I am terrified that it’s lung cancer. No family history of lung cancer. No fevers. No hemoptysis. CBC and basic chem panel were normal. Just a productive cough. I’m supposed to have a chest CT when the cough resolves but I am so worried it’s cancer. Anyone else have any insight or experience with this??
Avatar n tn my doctor ordered blood work and chest x-ray and given Levaquin 500 mg 1 day for 7 days then in 3 weeks another chest xray. Thank you for your reply. I appreciate you.
Avatar f tn I know and confirmed from other chest doctors that the x ray result never shown any problem regarding TB or Pneumonia or fibrosis. Please post the answers as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn The past few days I thought I had a minor cold since I was coughing a bit, have a headache, and feel a bit of pressure while breathing. I figured I would just wait it out because a cold isn't anything to worry about. Well, my husband had the same symptoms as well, but when he woke up today, it was harder for him to breathe so he went to the hospital and found out he had walking pneumonia but was given nothing to treat it because they said he has to get over it himself.
