410877 tn?1245973772 u can get mad at me for saying this but i think it is so sad that u hang on2 this man who clearly doesn't want to stop drinking and has shown extremely mentally and verbally abusive behavior to u for some time.It is sad that u think he loves u when he doesn't even love himself and abuses himself with alcohol.I remember ur posts from quite a ways back.I've been sober/clean for 24 years and dayjob is addictions counselor.
Avatar f tn Disability is way more expensive. Wheel chairs, vans, converting the house, nursing care, hospitalizations, nursing homes, etc. I can't afford any of that if it comes to it. Pharmaceuticals often save people money in the long run by lessening the time we spend in hospitals. This is over looked in the equation.

Avatar n tn ve encountered a case in which a 5-day old puppy was brought in the clinic with hemoptysis, I concluded that it was aspiration pneumonia because the puppy was only been nursed by the owner... We immediately administered antibiotics and wasn't able to put on IV fluids due to the small size of the puppy, we tried administering oral fluids, but it doesn't work well.... after an hour, the puppy died and coughed a lot of blood....
Avatar f tn Thanks again, I read that article and it really made me feel better... I was expecting the worse.. It sounds like I should be able to taper off.. pain free!!!. I am not going to ignore my fears of getting worse, like it says that some do. I do only take the prescribed amount (4 per day). I think I am going to also try the vitamins and other things for energy.. I Love you for making me realize that it is going to be okay........
Avatar f tn Although the combination of calcium plus vitamin D has only been shown to reduce fracture in a nursing home population, it is recommended that all people with osteoporosis initially be advised to take these dietary supplements. The benefits of additional calcium and vitamin D are highlighted with caregivers for people with osteoporosis residing in nursing facilities. Treatment is generally given twice daily with meals to optimize absorption.
898849 tn?1241811271 I read a recent newstory that stated that Swine flu can be potentially more lethal in people with heart disease because medications used to reduce fluid build up in their lungs will fail to work as effectively if they catch the flu, also the stress of trying to fight off a fever can be too much for their hearts. Cardiologists are recommending that patients with heart disease be among the first to receive the Swine Flu vaccine.
Avatar n tn Am not a doctor, but this sounds like pneumonia. I use to work in a nursing home and seen people with this problem..u need the hospital...please go straight away...
Avatar f tn My husband is a CLL patient, recently recovered from pneumonia, and had a hypothyroid crisis, his TSH was 95. How aggressive can we be to get him established on levothyroxine?
Avatar f tn I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent. So, let me give you the facts that you probably already know, but they are important to repeat.
Avatar f tn I just read a great article about some surprising, but important fact about birth. Since I see a lot of questions related to these topics I thought Id condense and share with you ladies :) 1. Ultrasounds are horrible at estimating how much a baby weighs. The average third trimester estimate is 10-20% off! 2. An average low risk pregnancy does NOT last 40 weeks (sorry ladies!) For first time moms the normal length is 41 weeks and 1 day, for experienced moms its 40 weeks 3 days. 3.

It is GARBAGE, and we have been screaming that for 12 years. Come on, show me some respect. OK, here is the article, I am out – Dr.

Avatar f tn Lots of people on here tonight struggling a bit...maybe because is saturday night...dont know...cathy sent me a great article on interventions on craving and it is in the health pages....glad u r hanging in there...has been a rough week for me too...not saying i get any satisfaction whatsoever from your craving...
416285 tn?1207171916 The article went on to say that if so many instructions/interventions were given to the process of mating, there'd be a lot less action going on! Could you imagine, a doctor on the sidelines in your bedroom! Too funny. I know women can rupture if they push too hard before fully dialated, but I also believe that the woman's body knows better when to push than a medical book on averages!
382218 tn?1341181487 I recently came across an article addressing the possible link between stress and exacerbation of MS symptoms.
163305 tn?1333668571 In all honesty, I must say that a lot of the recent hullabaloo was a Mercola article, published on April 1, that went all out on this subject. It went so far as to say that anyone within 500 ft of an unvaccinated person would receive a text telling them to move out of the area, etc - very far fetched... for those who read all the way to the bottom and actually paid attention, in reality, it was an April Fool's joke.
Avatar f tn My family and I are at a loss. My dad had his aortic valve replaced (elective/scheduled) on 12/15/22. The Dr. said he lost a lot of blood and they had trouble controlling his blood pressure during the surgery. He was never extubated after the surgery, never followed commands. They did a CT scan 4 days later, that's when it was discovered he had a stroke. Later that week he had a trach and g-tube put in.
Avatar f tn I know ed is right about this....you carry this, you don't get rid of it. It lies dormant in your system. Nursing homes are rampant with it. There was a time that Dr.'s weren't supposed to admit residents to nursing homes if they were carriers. Hospitals hardly ever test any more for it because it is so rampant. There is even crossover from the animal population. I know because my daughter, a Registered Vet Tech, got it from the animal surgical center where she works.
Avatar m tn My father is 79 years old, he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, upon exams they discovered he had a couple of arteries blocked. I think they said 40% blockage in one and not sure of the blockage in the other one, not sure what arteries are blocked. The cardiologist is recommending Bypass surgery, all the information I have read states that blockage of this type can usually be treated with medication.
Avatar n tn He has been on steroids and all types of treatments including nebulizers, etc. since I can remember. He constantly is sick, cough, pneumonia and I feel helpless. He takes about 10 meds a day! HELP! nothing seems to get him better...
Avatar m tn ll my dad had lacunar stroke on right side of brain Oct 17 2013 . He is paralyzed on left side. He was walking with walker nov 2 2013 but nov 27 he got pneumonia and his heart got irregular. He had a critical troponin result that day. Now he has a half inch bed sore and he is kinda giving up. Dec 17 the rehab center suggested hospice plan ideas. Disappointing.
Avatar m tn Hello. I was reading this article from dr. Kurt Woeller and wanted to ask if you could give your opinion on this. Is it true that this could cure autism. Do you think it´s wort trying on a 2.5 year old autistic boy? Are there any other new treatments for autism? Thank you.
541953 tn?1262586226 Bernie Mac’s death was reportedly caused by complications from pneumonia at a suburban Chicago hospital. Mac hadn’t been well in recent years, suffering from an inflammatory lung disease called sarcoidosis that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, impacting the immune system. According to his publicist Danica Smith, that affliction had been in remission for three years and was not related to Mac’s death.
