5601163 tn?1370701672 Could be residual changes from the pneumonia -- many times the xray takes longer to completely resolve than the symptoms, even after a course of antibiotics. Sometimes, pneumonia develops in response to mild airway blockage from a mass or tumor, so if they saw something (even small or subtle), they probably just want a CT to make sure it's not something like that.
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
Avatar n tn He stated that if I elected to have the surgery and it was a tumor then he would likely have the remove 60% of my right lung. After talking with my husband, we have scheduled the surgery for August 6. I have been feeling really tired lately and coughing more and am worried that it is because of the problems in my lung. I am also concerned about having the open lung biopsy. I would love to hear input on anyone’s thoughts and opinions as to what this mass could be. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I'm a breast cancer survior and was diagnosed with a lower left lung infiltrate yesterday at an emergency room my symptoms are cough for about 2 months, aching joints, off and on hot and cold flashes, the ER MD said he thought it was possible pneumonia but I should follow up with my oncologist to rule out lung cancer. My doctor is out of town and I am very nervous.
Avatar n tn How was the 4cm mass on the lung discovered? What tests have been run? My sister had a mass on her lung, it was discovered first by x-ray, then she had to have a CT scan, then a PET scan. After all those scans she had to have a biopsy done and the mass removed from her lung. You should post your questions on the lung forum.
Avatar n tn Now she has Pneumonia, her Right Inferior Lung is collapsed, and she has a paralyzed diaphragm. What could have caused this? The doctor's say it is not from the surgery, but maybe from an underlying condition she already had. She's been 6 weeks and has not received an answer from the doctors as to specific treatment, or what may have caused it. Any suggestions?
7900821 tn?1395192104 Lung cancer can predispose one to pneumonia but in that case the pneumonia would recur in the same place in your lung each time. In addition it is quite unlikely that the radiologist would mistake lung cancer for pneumonia. That still leaves the question of why you should have recurrent pneumonia, unanswered and that is a question that will require further investigation.
Avatar m tn The x ray does not show any type of tumor. It only shows white shading across her right lung where it should show black on the x ray. Abby still wags her tail and has her personality. I am wondering now if it is some type of fungal infection.
Avatar n tn ” “Cystic fibrosis causes about half of all cases of bronchiectasis. Other causes include lung infection (tuberculosis, fungal infections, lung abscess, pneumonia), abnormal lung defense mechanisms (immunodeficiency, rheumatic disease), and localized airway obstruction (foreign body, tumor).” “The most typical symptom is a chronic cough that produces thick, white or green sputum (discharge). The sputum may be foul-smelling and abundant and may contain blood.
Avatar f tn Most patients with lung cancer who present with voice changes usually have tumor compressing on a nerve that descends into the chest before it rises up the neck to the voice box. If the location of the tumor is indeed close to the windpipe ( trachea - the single air tube that links both lungs and extends up to the back of the throat), we would need to consider that there may be compression.
Avatar n tn Took Buddy to a different vet. Turns out it's not pneumonia. He has lung cancer.
Avatar f tn t and it turned out he had a lung tumor; and another cat who caught an upper respiratory inf from my other 2 and coughed up phlegm-i didn't know that coughing is NOT NORMAL till i took him and found out he had pneumonia. What I was told is unless your cat is coughing up a hairball, coughing is not normal; and the impaired breathing definitely sounds like something is not right-please bring your cat to the vet right away.
Avatar f tn I took her to the vet within that first week of noticing that it was not getting better at all, and they did xrays and labs, they then said it was a fully consolidated right lung and either was from a severe pneumonia or a tumor??? They gave a 100mg injection of Baytril antiobitiotics and more of it for 2 weeks through tablets..

Avatar n tn This scan showed no growth but the radiologist could not definitively say whether or not it was just a lesion from a previous pneumonia or a tumor(benign or malignant). I am now being referred to a specialist who will order either a PET scan or an MRI. I am 51 and quit smoking 20 years ago.I am trying to keep this in perspective but am struggling with my mind and imagining the worst. I am also wondering whether most/ some lesions are cancerous?
Avatar n tn I am a 29 year old female, never smoked, healthy weight and beside breathing and anxiety issues healthy.
1618318 tn?1318196283 I have swallowing disorders that put me at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Are there any tests that can be done to differentiate the type of pneumonia? I have had several xrays done on my chest and was put on antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I ave just been diagnosed with pneumonia. Will this leave me with permanent lung damage. I feel very short of breath.
Avatar n tn Pneumonia is a very serious lung infection that is caused by several different types of bacteria or viruses. Since you got well and then got sick again, you may either have a resistant strain, or have picked up a secondary infection. Yellow phlegm with a clear x-ray sounds like bronchitis. Either way, you need to see a pulmonary doctor to prescribe a different antibiotic to treat this new infection. Be sure to get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
Avatar n tn It can also occur when obstruction of the bronchus to the damaged portion of lung, obstruction caused by an aspirated foreign body or a tumor, prevents optimum drainage of infected material in the lung. Foreign bodies, such as a piece of meat can prevent complete healing of the lung and, unfortunately are often not visible on the standard chest X-ray. These are factors that your doctor could take into account in sorting out the probable causes of the pneumonias.
Avatar m tn Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia? I am an asthmatic although controlled perfectly by ventolin etc.
Avatar m tn Thru various diagnostic tests, I have come to find that my RH lung is not working due to the diaphram being paralyzed. Can't seem to get a diagnosis on this condition, or the treatment of it. Can anyone give a possible cause and cure for this condition?
Avatar f tn Have you ever had a shot to keep you from getting pneumonia? I used to have pneumonia at least once a year, but not anymore. It's been 10 years now. Also COPD can cause pleurisy, among other things. See a doctor who specializes in lung probems!
Avatar f tn The following day the pain was suddenly under my rib cage, on the bottom right side. It felt like some sort of lung spasm, and my right lung would inhale/exhale on its own, without me actually taking a breath. The pain kept getting worse. I went to the doctor two days later and he thought it was my gallbladder. At this point I couldn't lay on my back at all. The ultrasound and blood work came back clear.
Avatar n tn Given that it is now nearly 4 months since the bout of pneumonia, you deserve further diagnostic evaluation by a lung specialist. If the signs are truly localized to one lung, the one that had the pneumonia and especially if a current x-ray fails to demonstrate complete resolution, the lung specialist will probably suggest that he/she perform bronchoscopy and/or a CT scan of the lungs to determine the reason for this lingering problem.
