I was induced at exactly 36 weeks. My son was 8 lbs and did very good. Took him a few minutes to cry but other than that he was healthy.
I had my baby at 35 weeks he was 5lbs 8oz and did not have to go to the nicu but he did have to stay in the hospital for almost a week bc his bilirubin levels (jaundice) were high and it took him a few days to have a bowl movement. I have never had tremors, muscle spasms, coordination issues, nor numbness and the only eye symptom I have had is jaundice. I have had a lot of viral infections including viral pneumonia and bronchitis. I had a normal MRI in 2005 then this all started July 31st 2008. I am totaly confused and don't know where to turn next. I have also had exposure to Lyme but it is not active at this time.
My first two children had jaundice when they were born and had to stay in the hospital an extra day to get the uv light treatments. I'm assuming my third baby will have it too... has anyone else had multiple children with jaundice?
OK so day 5 was determine to have jaundice.. So I had to take her too the hospital for a blood test OK day 6 got her results she was at a level 15 so had to take her back to the hospital to get checked again so now I'm waiting for the Dr to call me back to see of she needs to be admitted! Any one else go through something similar? I'm losing my mind going crazy with all the what if!!!
My baby was born march 7 and he has been showing no signs of jaundice but besides in his labs i had jaundice when i was a baby and they dont do it like they use to has anyone else baby had jaundice
Hi ladies I gave birth 5 weeks early to a healthy baby boy. He didn't have jaundice at the hospital. He is now 12 days old and has slight jaundice. Is there any other way to rid of this besides direct sunlight?

Its when baby produces too much billireubin (an enzyme made in the liver) which causes yellowing of the skin. If baby is jaundice, or has hyperbillireubinemia, they will be placed under special UV lights that will promote the billi levels to come down on their own. Its not uncommon, I work on a pediatric floor and we see this quite a bit.
Well my son is a week old and the doctors said he has mild jaundice and they did some blood work on him , im not familiar with this my first son didn't have it cause i used formula and i was doing research and they said breastfeeding causes it ... now im worried should I stop for a while and use formula ?

re jaundiced. Generally 1.4 is not elevated enough to show jaundice. Typically jaundice is seen in patients with a 2 MG/dl or higher total serum bilirubin.
Your ALT is certainly elevated enough to warrant further investigation.
There is something injuring your liver and further testing is necessary to diagnose your condition.
Frequently doctors will order viral hepatitis tests to rule out Hep A, B, C etc.
Aside from viral hepatitis there are many other liver disorders to consider.
I have a question. Before/during tax, does anyone experience the jaundice associated with HCV? If so, how long does this last? I do not recall anyone talking about this symptom.

Jaundice is very common in newborns and in most cases resolves on its own, sometimes if bilirubin levels are too high they will initiate photo therapy (which isn't for heat, its UV light) and is perfectly safe.
My husband underwent a non laproscopic chole 19 days ago, had every complication known to man to include gi bleed 3 units of blood, ng tube, jaundice, bilateral pneumonia, pulmonary edema. He is 43 with history of chrones as his only real medical problem. In the unit for 9 days, hospital for 15. We went home last friday, he vomitted twice friday night, and started with temp of 101.5 on Saturday, his wbc yesterday was 11.5.
i have had normal blood tests 3 times and was also told by one doctor that it could be gastritis. no jaundice or varices. i have also been experiencing kidney pain, especially after a hard night of drinking that can last a couple of days and chest pain which i have gone to the e.r. for and they ran tests and could not tell me anything. could all these things be related? i really don't know what's going on with my body and any information would be appreciated.
