Avatar n tn Just a quick follow up question regarding the answer you gave me Dr. I have found a couple of online articles stating that Ribavirin has either: little or no HIV effect.
280234 tn?1532986249 I was wondering if any other young adults have been diagnosed with colon polyps? I'm a 34/f who was recently diagnosed with a 1.1 cm "Tubulovillous adenoma" during a colonoscopy (was seeing blood/mucous in stool for about 6 months). The lab report came back that it was benign, and my GI doctor said follow up with him in 3 years. From what my GI doctor told me, and what I've read about these, they are considered precancerous. Following up in 3 years makes me nervous.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar f tn Two of the times we were sent home and told to rest and keep up on fluids. The third visit he was finally given a chest XRay which confirmed severe pneumonia. He has been in the ICU for 3 days now and has rapidly deteriorated. The prognosis is lesions/ nodules surrounding the heart that need to be removed which they are unable to do until his pneumonia clears up. There is an apparent Staph infection of one of the nodules inside a ventricle of the heart.
Avatar f tn Is it normal finding white appearenc of the retina in young adults?
Avatar n tn m very upset that hepatitis b vaccination was not recommendation when he was a baby. (1978) He remembered being hospitalized at the age of 7 with pneumonia. Could this have been a misdiagnosis of pneumonia instead of hepatitis b? One shot of I think the globulin injection (i think that is what it is called) would have cured him from this illness if it was diagnosed and his shot record evaluated in 1990 would have told them that he does not have teh hepatitis b vaccine.
Avatar n tn Warning signs of heart problems are chest pains that last for more than a few minutes or come back after having one previously, difficulty breathing while climbing stairs or doing normal activities that did not cause shortness of breath previously, shaking in the back. Young people can have fast heartbeats, different heartbeats, and shortness of breath from heart beating fast. The question is when you are short of breath, how fast is your heart beating?
Avatar m tn t know if this is kidney infection. I had this when I was young, and I was hospitalized. Is your daughter in the hospital? If so, doctors shoud be able to determine this.
Avatar f tn I am not a doctor but I have Googled your question and this is what I found: "Pneumonia in children and adults is caused by bacteria, virus, fungi or protozoa. Out of these, bacteria are the most common microorganisms, that have been found to cause pneumonia. These microorganisms usually enter the body through mouth, nose and eyes, and then infect the lungs, especially the air sacs or alveoli of the lungs. Pneumonia is more commonly found to affect the lower lobes of the lungs.
Avatar f tn How old is your son? Are these baby teeth or adult teeth? I wouldn't pull any adult teeth unless absolutely necessary. Yes, the wisdom teeth could potentially fill in that space but there are complications with that. As the wisdom teeth come in, they don't move sideways into the space but rather, they tilt in and lean in sideways which causes problems with the jaw bone.
Avatar n tn It is possible...especially in older adults as well as in those who are on medications such as steroids (they are immunosuppressed) for example. Some people actually have a lower than normal temperature and do indeed have pneumonia....I have seen this in my workplace (I was a nurse in a hospital) a few times. Normally, people do have temps...I don't get really sky high temps when I get pneumonia (I get it frequently), actually I am low grade to 101'ish.
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
Avatar f tn While CF is usually believed to be a disease of children and young adults, in recent years the diagnosis has been made for the first time in individuals in the 4th or 5th decade of life. TABLE 42-1.
Avatar f tn There can be honest disagreement among experts about the management of RML atelectasis, bronchiectasis and recurrent pneumonia, despite appropriate, intense medical treatment, in young children with a normal immune system. There is general agreement, however that, when localized bronchiectasis, especially of the RML, becomes refractory, more severe or resistant to medical management, lobar resection may be warranted.
Avatar m tn Our (Type 1) juvenile diabetic 25 year old athletic marathon running/bike riding daughter with good sugar and cholestrol levels most of her life had a massive heart attack recently. Has anyone studied the effects of "insulin" in young adults to see if there is any correlation between insulin and heart attacks in young adults?
Avatar n tn I have read various articles on the internet since then and all of them talk about high blood pressure in young adults occurring due to bad diet, lack of exercise etc which does not fit. 1321692 tn?1304298071 It last between two to three weeks and worsens at night. I started to get it after I had a bad case of the pneumonia in the fourth grade. I am now 19. I know that whopping cough is more common in children, but to me it sounds more like whopping cough than the pneumonia and bronchitis that I have been diagnosed with. Does it sound like pneumonia, bronchitis, whopping cough, or something else? Thank you for your help.
