Pneumonia is an example , also fluid build up from CHF (congestive heart failure) can present as infiltrates from what I remember. I know that there are other reasons. What did your doc say Diva? Again keeping you in my thoughts..
Avatar n tn You have got to get up and move around to prevent it. If you do have pneumonia in your lungs you will need pretty powerful antibiotics so don't hesitate to see a doctor.
Avatar f tn t have pneumonia? Do you have a cough? There is something called pleurisy which can hurt your lungs when you breathe, but both pneumonia and pleurisy are accompanied by a cough. Behind your lungs are your kidneys, is it possible that when you breathe your lungs are hurting your kidneys? Therefore it would feel like your lungs hurting but it's not. Just an idea if the doc is ruling out lung problems.
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN HAVING SHARP PAINS IN MY LUNGS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW, THEY ARE VERY ARE TWINGES WHICH FEELS AS THOUGH SOMEONE IS PINCHING THE INSIDE OF MY LUNGS VERY HARD, THIS CAN HAPPEN IN MOST AREAS ANS ON BOTH SIDES. i USED TO SMOKE A LOT BUT NOW I HAVE PRETTY MUCH QUIT, ONLY HAVING ABOUT ONE CIGARETTE A WEEK WHEN I DRINK.
Avatar n tn If it felt like rice crispies were popping in your lungs, then it's most likely pneumonia. That symptom can come and go, it doesn't have to be constant. Rattling in the lungs when you're sick isn't a good sign, even if it's not pneumonia, and you need to see your doctor very soon or go to urgent care, especially if you get a fever.
Avatar f tn hi in the letter it says ,right basal pneumonia, does that make any sense to you?
Avatar m tn First time, the doctor noted traces of pneumonia in his chest and gave him Amox for 10 days. He was fine for another 10 days and got it back. This time, he got better only with IV antibiotics. He was ok for another 10 months with on and off colds, but this time he developed pneumonia again and had to be treated with oral antibiotics. I want to know if there is anyway to help prevent reccurence of pneumonia? Will there be any damage to his lungs because of reccurence of pneumonia?

Avatar f tn These microorganisms usually enter the body through mouth, nose and eyes, and then infect the lungs, especially the air sacs or alveoli of the lungs. Pneumonia is more commonly found to affect the lower lobes of the lungs. Apart from microorganisms, pneumonia can also be caused by any injury or damage to the lungs, caused by the exposure to certain chemicals and radiation. So, many times, people receiving aspiration or radiation therapy can too get pneumonia". This is the link: http://www.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia in early Jan. Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia?

Avatar f tn We live in Bulgaria and I am having a hard time getting proper treatment for my daughter. She is a year and 7 months old and last month we spent 16 days in 2 hospitals diagnosed with "Bronhit Pneumonia" which I can only translate as Bronchitis and Pneumonia. In the hospitals they changed antibiotics 5 times and did 5 xrays. After 2 weeks she has started coughing and wheezing after running and playing. This has occurred 4 times both indoors and outside.
Avatar n tn do they often send someone home that was in the hospital for about a week that has chf, pneumonia, and fluid in lungs??? anything would help I don't want my husband to get worse just because they need a free bed in the hospital!!!
Avatar f tn I'm trying to understand what is wrong with my sister...she has Asthma also Empysemia. She hasn't been well for a couple of weeks & her Dr daid she had a chest infection. Last week she was rushed into hospital, she could hardly breathe, put her on oxygen etc but it didn't help much. Had an xray, they said she didnt have a chest infection. Then a CT Scan, they said she did have infection.
Avatar n tn Now, they said the water in my lungs has nothing to do with pneumonia but is caused by my heart being enlarged. According to my latest X-Ray results, I have Cardiomegaly, left ventricular form. According to my 2D Echo, I have Mitral Sclerosis with moderate mitral regurgitation. Are those caused by pneumonia? What's the best way to go about this? My doctor can't seem to make up his mind on what's causing them.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes in lungs can swell in granulomatous lung diseases like sarcoidosis, in pneumonia and in lung cancer. The CT scan of the lung needs to be reviewed by a chest specialist along with other tests for you like pulmonary function tests, blood examination etc. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Aspiration pneumonia causes death because the macrophages in the lungs cannot keep up with the removal of the bacteria growing in the alveolar. The alveoli become clogged with bacteria and eventually lose all function because the lungs actually drown in the bacteria. Unfortunately, any foreign substance that gets into the lungs has the potential for causing aspirate pneumonia.
Avatar f tn But it is usually a result of some other kinda bug thats not treated resulting in that it causes fluid on the lungs, which takes a while to turn into pneumonia. If you arnt having symptoms of the original chest cold, or flu your fine.
Avatar m tn at_239, it might help in understanding to know that "pneumonia" is a catchall term that just means an infection in the lungs. You don't actually get vaccinated against pneumonia per se, you get vaccinated against particular bacteria that can cause pneumonia. So, as ANM says, you are not protected from getting pneumonia from coronavirus, or from any other virus.
Avatar n tn there is a subtle area of increased opacity adjacent to the cardiac apex in the frontal view only could represent a subtle infiltrate. The lungs are otherwise clear. No evidence for olueral effusion. Heart size, hila, mediastinum, peripheral vasculature normal". Potential lingular infiltrate. What does all that mean? I will repeat xray in 3 weeks as dr ordered.
Avatar f tn She had congestive heart failure with fluid retention in arma and legs and both lungs. She had pneumonia, rsv and mersa in her kidneys and lungs. She was malnurioushed and the diabetes was acting up. She ended up with a thorancentesis on her right lung which removed 2 ltrs of fluid. Now we are on day 23 and she is in ltac. Still has chest tube and is on high levels of oxygen, iv meds. She had a thoracentesis on the right lung again 1/2 a week ago.
Avatar m tn Also, your lower lobes of the lungs are kind of low on your back and since she has pneumonia that would cause that too. Ask her doctor though to be sure. Poor thing. I have had pneumonia and it is horrible.
211940 tn?1267881266 Definition Aspiration pneumonia is inflammation of the lungs and airways to the lungs (bronchial tubes) from breathing in foreign material. Aspiration pneumonia occurs when foreign materials (usually food, liquids, vomit, or fluids from the mouth) are breathed into the lungs or airways leading to the lungs. I, myself, have lots of problems with swallowing issues.
Avatar f tn I had pneumonia, and I was hospitalize twice, once in February for 5 days and in March for 4 days, My chest scan x-ray read now I have scare tissue in both lungs. My question is, what is the definition of scare tissue, is their a cure, and how long to become 100% dissolve. As of now, after a day of activity, I get tired and my chest tightens. 620048 tn?1358018235 It might be the flare that is causing your recovery to be super slow or something is still brewing in your lungs. Also, did you do steroids for this flare? I don't recall if you did or not. Did you get any speech training to help with trying to prevent aspiration while you were in the hospital? I hope you make a turn for the better in the coming week. You have certainly paid your dues with this illness and flare.
