Avatar f tn I know herbal remedies and most over the counter drugs are out but does anyone have any tips for pregnant women who get sick a lot? So far I have had two colds, an ear infection and walking pneumonia and I'm only 16 weeks along in only the beginning of winter. The only advice my doctor gives me is to wash my hands a lot but this clearly isn't working. I got my flu shot so I'm not too worried about that but I know constantly being sick is not good either.
250701 tn?1320974765 Well it's number 24 still hanging in there, trying to get pneumonia again, it never went fully away. The dr. sent me in some more antibiotics. Feeling like crap atm. I know tomorrow will be not so hot. Bones still hurting. My blood work came back it showed something called band. I looked it up and it said that it was the white cells forming to start to fight an infection. So i'm glad I got the meds tonight. Will be getting my viral load back in a few days.
Avatar n tn Two weekends ago I woke up with the usual backache associated with pneumonia. I get it twice a year, so on Monday I called my doctor and went in. I was not seen by the doctor but was given prescriptions for the pneumonia and an order to get x-rays done. On Thursday I got the call that the x-rays did not show pneumonia and to stop taking the medication. On Friday I was worse so I went to the ER. That's where they told me I dislocated my ribs from coughing due to the pneumonia.....
1127040 tn?1289718662 However, when the heart is in distress it can make it seem like pains are eminating from anywhere in the chest, back, shoulders, arms, neck, jaw. All the local areas to the heart. A friend of mine had chest pains for several months and he swore blind it was a pulled chest muscle in the ribs. It wasn't until he had a heart attack/stenting that the pains finally went. His pains only occured during exertion, NEVER at rest.
Avatar f tn Sounds like it could be the pelvic bone. She should see a doctor asap. Broken bones not taken care of immediately in the ederly can lead to pneumonia. Plus, you done't want the bone to puncture anything else. Bed rest with her feet propped up until she sees the doctor is best. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn My four year old Mimi has been in hospital for a week with pneumonia, the xrays that have been taken do not show any improvement although her temperature is now back to normal, she has had iv antibiotics and oral antibiotics, and is now home. Because she had pneumonina when she was two in her right lung, this time its in her upper left lung they have tested her for other things and we have to go back in six weeks for a check up and more blood tests and xrays.
Avatar f tn Dr in ER thought she had Pulmonary Embolism. Her Dr saw her in hospital today and said she has pneumonia and caused her to have blood coming up when she coughed.
Avatar f tn Hey, I'm only 20 years old and I am in so much pain...and no matter what nothing will make it stop. My upper middle back mainly where my ribs and lungs are and right underneath have stabbing pains..but I feel like it's not my bones and I'm not sure if it's my muscles I feel like it's my lungs. I have been a heavy smoker for 3 years also..it's killing me. Even when I lay or get in a comfortable position stabbing pains shoot through my body and even on the front as well...
Avatar f tn you may learn more about the underlying cause. It could be parathyroid gland issue in which case you are in the right forum. After you learn more about your blood levels you should re-post. Good luck!
Avatar m tn First time, the doctor noted traces of pneumonia in his chest and gave him Amox for 10 days. He was fine for another 10 days and got it back. This time, he got better only with IV antibiotics. He was ok for another 10 months with on and off colds, but this time he developed pneumonia again and had to be treated with oral antibiotics. I want to know if there is anyway to help prevent reccurence of pneumonia? Will there be any damage to his lungs because of reccurence of pneumonia?

Avatar f tn I also had 5 episodes of trouble breathing and pressure in my chest. In fact, I woke up at 2 in the morning on Thursday and I had trouble breathing. My question is even though that it is Costochondritis, how do I know the episodes I am having are not from a heart attack? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Nothing else has ever worked. My last episode I was admitted for 2 weeks with multifocal pneumonia in both lungs and didn't walk for 10 days. During my stay, the doctors performed every test they could think of. It is not my nerves, bones, muscles, or neurological. It is not MS, Lupus, Polio, Meningitis, or anything else they tested for. I have been to endless specialists, and even been told this is in my head which it is NOT. They call me a "Dr. House situation.

Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
250701 tn?1320974765 Hang in there! It will come to an end. I am on shot 43 tonight and I never thought I would get here. Some where in the late 20's or early 30's shots, time seemed to start moving faster. Wishing you well!
Avatar n tn In most cases, Kennel Cough is more annoying to the owner than it is to the dog, because the dog hacks and coughs at all hours making it difficult for the owner to sleep or concentrate on anything but the hacking sound. In some instances, though, it does worsen to the point where it CAN cause pneumonia, and the fact that he had the cloudiness in his chest x-rays and it doesn't seem to be responding to antibiotics sure looks like a case of Kennel Cough that has gotten much worse.
