Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
Avatar n tn You could have a secondary bacterial infection that you can get after viral pneumonia that is called walking pneumonia and is caused by either bacteria called Mycoplasma or Chlamydia pneumoniae. "Walking" pneumonia gives you a low grade fever, tiredness, dry hacking cough, pain in the ribs area. They can check for these by testing and culture. It is important for you to get your lungs listened to to make sure you are ok.
419309 tn?1326503291 I got a pneumonia vax about 10 yrs ago. I've gotten my seasonal flu shot and my H1N1 shot. I had worse side effects from the seasonal flu shot than I did with the H1N1 shot..., just to let anybody know that hasn't gotten H1N1 yet. I really found it to be no big deal. The only side effect that I had was a bit of a sore arm at the shot site for a few days. I had no fever w/the H1N1 shot. I did have fever with the seas.flu shot.

Avatar f tn I have a daughter, she's gonna be 2 years old in July. When she was about 9 months old, she got a bad cold, so I took her into the ER. It turns out, it was a good patch of pneumonia in her lungs. They kept her for two days on a nebulizer and meds. A few months later, she got a cough and cold again, and I took her back to the ER because there wasn't any room at her doctors. Turns out she had bronchitis, and there was still a small patch of pneumonia left over from the previous stay.

Avatar n tn It sounds like your doctors are capable and have provide you good care, but given your long history of lung problems and a number of unresolved questions about the bronchitis/pneumonia and the nodule(s), you might want to consider getting a second opinion from a lung specialist, called a pulmonologist. Good luck.
4717778 tn?1358388109 Also, the possibility of nodules becoming cancerous increases with history of smoking/current smoking/previous history of cancer/family history of cancer. Hence, depending on all these parameters and interval check may have been asked for. Based on this knowledge, you need to discuss in detail with your doctor or radiologist. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar f tn My son is 7 years old and has had pneumonia twice in the last 2 years. The second time they told me it returned in the exact same spot. They told me to have another xray in 6 weeks. Hes otherwise a healthy boy what would cause it to return in the same spot. I know there are probably many causes but what comes to mind?
Avatar f tn Pneumonia, meaning the purpose of the study is to rule out pneumonia, but for billing purposes the doctor must list a symptom or diagnosis rather than the words rule out pneumonia. Another possibility is that this is a voice dictation error. Radiologists use voice dictation software (similar to the type you use for your smartphone, but more advanced and with a medical focus). This software is not 100% perfect and may generate words not intended.
Avatar f tn Doctors "accidentally" discovered I had pneumonia when I went to the ER for a gall bladder attack in May. They heard rales. I had an elevated D-dimer but all other labs were ok so had CT scan which showed rll pneumonia. I had not symptoms at all. No fever, no cough, no abnormal labs (except the elevated d-dimer). I had a zpack and then another CT scan after 2 weeks. The pneumonia was still there and then there was also a small nodule.
Avatar f tn Why you had had pneumonia is not something we can answer without your medical history. Besides this community is to discuss hepatitis C and all ramifications. Pneumonia is an infection of the lung. Sepsis is a severe illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria. Sepsis can be caused by an infection of the lungs. (bacterial pneumonia). Only your doctor who treated you can say what happened.

Avatar f tn I just compeleted a 7 day course of antibiotics for walking pneumonia but a 1.5 cm lucency in the right lower lung “concerning for a cavitary lesion” was seen on my chest X-ray I am terrified that it’s lung cancer. No family history of lung cancer. No fevers. No hemoptysis. CBC and basic chem panel were normal. Just a productive cough. I’m supposed to have a chest CT when the cough resolves but I am so worried it’s cancer. Anyone else have any insight or experience with this??

Avatar f tn “. I do have a history over the years of pneumonia off and on, and a cough/cold deal that I go through every single winter. This did begin when I was 15 with chest pain, and the pains have increased over the years. In April, there was one incident that was so bad I thought it was a heart attack. “ That statement suggests to me that whatever the cause of your bronchiectasis, it may have begun a long time ago.
Avatar n tn diagnosed with septic shock due to bilateral pneumonia with complications of a right sided pleural effusion. We almost lost her but luckily the doctor drained enough fluid to help her breath on her own again. After 5 days in icu she was placed on peds...the next day the fluids came back and she was placed on a chest tube for over a week. Avatar m tn This sounds like you may have pneumonia. Lie down on your back, and breathe in and out. If it sounds like "rice krispies Snap Crackle Pop", you probably have fluid in your lungs. This can even be heard by another person without a stethoscope. They call it "walking pneumonia" because people walk around and don't even know they have it.
Avatar m tn m not sure COPD can be caused by Pneumonia, but it can definitely go the other way (COPD can put a person at risk for pneumonia). And it all started with a "cold" in June. :( I'm sorry hun. But it sounds like COPD.
