Avatar n tn Hi community, Over a year ago I had a brief exposure of unprotected(I'm female)vaginal sex. No ejaculation and less than a few minutes. I had the 4th gen test at almost 8 weeks and almost 10 weeks. In addition I performed an at home Oraquick at 6 and 6 1/2 months. All negative. Dr. Hook and my GP both assured me I am negative. However, I recently for the first time in my life have been diagnosed with bacterial lobar pneumonia. I'm healthy and in my 30s.
Avatar n tn I also keep feeling like im getting a little head cold but it doesnt go beyond sore throat or aggravated sinus. I had pneumonia about three weeks ago but I figured I was over it. What is it that could be happeneing? I also had a partial hysterectomy 2010 and have been experiencing bloadedness and cramping.
4958041 tn?1361556499 Needless to state, you need an in-person evaluation by an M.D., preferably at a teaching hospital. You aren't going to do your husband any good if you...well you get the idea. It is impossible to evaluate you over the internet. There are many possible etiologies. Dehydration or cardiac insufficiency, for starters. Getting a medical evaluation by a physician should be a priority.
Avatar m tn You say your father has pneumonia? Pneumonia can be fatal for a person with advanced cirrhosis. I assume he is hospitalized? Your dad should be vaccinated against Pneumonia, hepatitis A & B. There are many things your father needs to do at this point in his illness to help him to be as well as possible, for as long as possible. Make sure he connects up with a transplant center as this could be a life and death issue. Waiting any longer at this point is highly dangerous.
Avatar n tn Other possibilities are irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis(inflammation of the liver), kidney stones, pneumonia, musculoskeletal pain, lower rib fracture and malignancy. Irritation of the nerves supplying this area can also cause pain. Irritation can be due to nerve compression or pinching due to any spine related pathology. In females, ovarian pathology can cause such symptoms. You should get an ultrasound right upper abdominal area done to confirm the diagnosis.

Avatar f tn hi in the letter it says ,right basal pneumonia, does that make any sense to you?
Avatar f tn That is who would give methods of birth control as well as getting tested for certain conditions and teaching the importance of getting the pap done. If they become more aware of the possibilities, they may become more selective and careful. How did she respond to this realization of getting it again. Can you to talk. I know some parents can not talk to their kids and some kids can not talk to their parents. Do you all tal?.
968076 tn?1248272910 I have always had minor health issues due in part to the Hep C I was diagnosed with 11 years ago and while at a time I was minitored in the last 3 years my company does not supply medical insurance and because of my diagnosis it is too expensive to acquire on my own. I recently started experiencing some disturbing symptoms including rapid weight loss, loss of appitite, nausea and vomiting particularly in the morning, and rectal bleeding.

Avatar n tn My diagnosis was then bronchitis that turned into pneumonia, double ear infection, sinus infection. So I began another regimen of Amox-Clav 875mg, prednisone, cough syrup with hydrocodone in it, After finishing all of that round of medicines, I felt better but still not back to myself at all. Now after a week+ of being off antibiotics I am as sick as ever!!
Avatar m tn The difference is massive. I am a registered nurse, I worked for over 10 years in a teaching hospital. Residents and fellows do need to learn but surgery for pelvic organ prolapse is very complicated with a very high risk of complications if not done correctly. Instead of a doctor who has done hundreds of surgeries you would have someone learning do your surgery.
Avatar f tn WIhat a big pain when you have to get up and do your teaching job. The thing with the lungs is they take a while to recover if irritated like they were when you had bronchitis, you can have productive cough left over for up to two months! So annoying. You can go ahead and take the Z pack but am not really sure why they gave that to you unless they are worried about mycoplasma which is what causes walking pneumonia. I'd continue the Claritin and go ahead with the z pack.
1951365 tn?1324579455 s time to seek another opinion. I would consult a Physician associated with a large teaching facility or one of our nationally know clinics. Be assertive. We are our own best Health Care Advocates. Unfortunately none of us can give you the help you require.... which is a diagnosis and treatment. So pick up that phone and make an appointment. Please let us know how you are doing. I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Avatar n tn How can I prevent it from recurring into pneumonia? Can I do something right now so the cold will not develop into pneumonia? What am I doing wrong?
Avatar f tn If pneumonia, is this a new pneumonia, a pneumonia condition caused by the flu virus itself, or standard pneumonia(s)? If a standard pneumonia, will a pneumonia shot five years ago give any protection, and/or would one now give any protection? Also, will Tamiflu from 2004 still work?
Avatar m tn I'm really sorry you keep getting pneumonia! I know it's horrible-but I'm only 13 and I usually get it 2-3 times per year. I don't have health insurance any more so I kind of have to fight it out on my own with left over antibiotics. My only advice is to stay away from cardiac exercises and dairy. Try to be sitting/laying as often as you can. Usually when I have pneumonia and I stand up, I completely black out for about 30 seconds because I'm not getting enough oxygen.
Avatar f tn Long story short: I am on day 8 of a zpak for pneumonia (I still have the cough), and today I woke up with a sore throat, a runny nose, and now I keep sneezing like I have a cold. Is it possible to have a cold and lingering pneumonia at the same time? Actual Long Story with all the details: About two months ago, I had a cold that hung around and turned into pneumonia two weeks ago.
Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Avatar m tn You have good reasons to be concerned about your sister and her multiple health problems. Pain associated with her pneumonia should have eased as her pneumonia resolved. Pain at this time is not normal. The recurrence of cough and pain along with the abnormal X-ray findings of “scarring” and “a hole” in her lung suggest otherwise; that is to say that hers is what we would call complicated pneumonia. You ask, if she needs to be admitted to a hospital.
Avatar n tn You could have a secondary bacterial infection that you can get after viral pneumonia that is called walking pneumonia and is caused by either bacteria called Mycoplasma or Chlamydia pneumoniae. "Walking" pneumonia gives you a low grade fever, tiredness, dry hacking cough, pain in the ribs area. They can check for these by testing and culture. It is important for you to get your lungs listened to to make sure you are ok.
Avatar f tn It is really difficult when your problem is your health. As of now, I was not able to undergo the chest xray because I am 6 months pregnant. There is an opportunity for a regular position on my career but since this is my situation, a great hindrance to my success.
994239 tn?1321203620 I was diagnosed with Pneumonia, following flu last week. I have no health problems prior. I am wondering what it might mean, that I have absolutley no cough or congestion. I can feel pain pretty bad especially when I breathe in. I have had high fevers, chills, and all but NO cough and NO phlegm whatsoever. The Pneumonia was diagnosed on a chest xray. Does it mean anything if I simply do not cough and have no desire to? Doesn't that infection have to come out somehow?
