pneumonia

2024985 tn?1328846203 I suggest you keep a permanently bound notebook to record attacks and medication. Often for four to eight weeks after pneumonia or a lung infection the airways become "twitchy" and you should reasonably use either oral steroids or an inhaled steroid, every day. In such a case the drill is daily use of a preventative steroid.
Avatar f tn This exercise will greatly aide in the prevention of pneumonia and bronchitis. Inhalers, updraft treatments, and steriods are used to manage COPD as it gets worse. Smoking makes it worse. If you do smoke and cant quit try to just smoke outside of by a window with a fan blowing it outside. Even cutting down on second hand smoke exposure will help.
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
Avatar n tn Do not know if i was given antibiotics for bacterial pneumonia or antivirals for viral pneumonia and respiratory syncytial virus, from what i've read those could include ribavirin, tamiflu, relenza, iv antibiotics, amantadine etc. Took an elisa after 6 months of my possible exposure and it came back negative. 1) Does testing under any type of pneumonia viral/bacterial or RSV can give me a false negative?
Avatar n tn Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), alcohol use, pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lungs), pneumonia _______________________________________________ But most commonly, atrial fibrillation occurs as a result of some other cardiac condition (secondary atrial fibrillation). Heart valve disease: This can be something you are born with or be caused by infection or degeneration/calcification of valves with age. Enlargement of the left ventricle walls (left ventricular hypertrophy).
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
Avatar f tn Someone please help me. I've had shortness of breath since I was in 5-6 grade (I am not in grade 11). Since then I had numerous tests done (including asthma), no one knows whats happening. Since grade 9 I had, pneumonia (put me to bed for 3 weeks, couldn't do anything), bronchitis numerous times, about 10 strep throats, and etc.
Avatar f tn I also said that I did not understand why we could not wait a week or two and take another Xray to see if there were changes...to see if the spot was the pneumonia. He quickly said that pneumonia takes a good 6 weeks to clear from your lungs and I should get another lung picture in 6 weeks. He did not seemed concerned at all about cancer. Or at least he did not say he was. The final doctor I saw was the regular MD who released me from the hospital.
Avatar f tn The episode of confusion, lack of comprehension, could have been related to your pneumonia; in some people, something like a pneumonia can really cause confusion, and this could have exacerbated your myoclonus as well. This is called medically a metabolic encephalopathy. I am not sure from your above report if the small vessel stroke on your MRI was acute (new) or old, but a small stroke can sometimes cause significant symptoms depending on its exact location.
Avatar n tn t do anything but get you a diagnosis. Any treatment is up to you -- once you have a diagnosis you can treat it any way you want.
Avatar n tn 100% no yes see your doctor about your symptoms they are not due to HIV, your test is conclusive
Avatar n tn re asking, but my doctor had me get a flu shot and a pneumonia shot when I started treating (since the interferon could degrade my ability to fight infection). Also, I was in the hospital and they tried to give me a pneumonia shot every time I was there and they knew I had hcv and was treating. So, obviously, you would ask your doc - but I think it must be something they encourage.
1603143 tn?1297717206 I have sent you a PM and would like to speak further about this situation if you are willing. As for your medical issues yes the abnormal pap could be HPV. The rash could be HPV but unless the rash has bumps then it is probably fungial in nature. We don't give advice on treatement since we can't diagnosis. Follow up with your Dr for the rash.
Avatar n tn Such results are more consistent with the diagnosis of asthma. Interesting that you would have had pneumonia as there is an increased risk of pneumonia for persons using an inhaled steroid. Despite that alleged risk, the benefit of these drugs far outweighs the risk of pneumonia in the majority of persons.
Avatar n tn I am a 29 year old female, never smoked, healthy weight and beside breathing and anxiety issues healthy.
Avatar f tn Anyway I saw the consultant at exactly 3 weeks after the pneumonia diagnosis and 3 different antibiotics (clarithromycin, co-amoxyclav and another one beginning with T - can't remember!) anyway I had an X-ray and the consultant has said there is an abnormality on my lung and I have a CT scan booked tomorrow and follow up with the consultant on Tuesday. So now I am really anxious and getting worried that I have lung cancer or something.
994239 tn?1321203620 Hello, Cough and/or coughing up phlegm are symptoms you may not necessarily have. The definitive diagnosis of pneumonia is based on chest xray with combination of symptoms. So, your situation is possible. I remember I had pneumonia as a child with the only symptom of vomiting. My mother took me to the hospital and a diagnosis of pneumonia was made based on my chest xray.
Avatar f tn you need to go to the Doctor and find out why you are having trouble taking a deep breath and then depending on what the diagnosis is that will depend on what treatment you receive For example of you have pneumonia then the treatment would be antibiotics and maybe other stuff life steroids and breathing treatments, I'm not saying that's what you have though the only way to know what is going on is to get checked out by your MD Hope you feel better soon
Avatar n tn t a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia. Most pneumonia is infectious, and is most times caused by strep bacteria, so they throw antibiotics at it, and see how the patient responds, there are more aggressive atypical bacterial pneumonia that may require more aggressive treatment, also a persons age, and strength of their immune system is a major factor as well. But there are also viral, fungal, or less commonly parasitic causes of pneumonia.
620048 tn?1358018235 My pneumonia has returned, i am not quite sure what I am asking but I know the asperation pneumonia is from the MS and just wondering if I can get more information from someone.... possibly someone else has this issue..
Avatar n tn He asked if I was sick before the pneumonia diagnosis and the answer is yes. I have had a lot of breathing problems, weight loss, bone pain, shrinking in height, weakness, and stomach problems also. I have also taken a ct scan and I am waiting on the results. Should I be worried and what other test can I ask for or specialitst should I see? I am currently seeing a lung specialist and ENT(for polyps and nasal blockage)Please give me some direction and questions that I should be asking!!!
Avatar n tn There is no scientific evidence to back this up as a prevention method, but it stands to reason that it could wash the virus off your skin if it hasn't penetrated to the nerve endings. Keep your immune system strong. Sleep, good food, avoid stress, maybe also take vitamins or supplements. Sometimes your body can fight off herpes. Even if you do all this, please understand, you can still get herpes. It's a very virulent little sucker of a virus.
Avatar n tn Would carinii pneumonia present itself with just a minor cough and congestion and no fever, no rash or other symptoms. In other words is this type of pneumonia something that is more severe? I have not had an exposure to someone with HIV, but I have allowed myself to receive oral sex on occasion from guys that I did not know their HIV status.
Avatar m tn Looking for the same answer...my 3 1/2 year old son has just had his third diagnosis of traces of pneumonia that required a shot in each leg followed by oral antibiotics. Don't know why he is susceptible to this and wondering if his room has mold or something. He does have peanuts allergy; haven't had him tested yet for asthma susceptibility, which we've heard is possible when there are allergies.
Avatar m tn 10 weeks later i know i had a sorethroat and weakness but no fever and then a year later in 2011 i had pneumonia which was cured with antibiotics (this could maybe be as a result of me being in the army and it being very hot that i slept with 3 ventilators near my head for many hours while my hair was soaking and i was fasting) anyways iam just sooo scared because ive been reading soooooooooooo much and pneumonia is common with people with hiv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn m very upset that hepatitis b vaccination was not recommendation when he was a baby. (1978) He remembered being hospitalized at the age of 7 with pneumonia. Could this have been a misdiagnosis of pneumonia instead of hepatitis b? One shot of I think the globulin injection (i think that is what it is called) would have cured him from this illness if it was diagnosed and his shot record evaluated in 1990 would have told them that he does not have teh hepatitis b vaccine.
Avatar n tn At one time, AIDS was diagnosed clinically, regardless of HIV test result -- and by that standard, it seems you have AIDS, especially if the diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) is correct (but see comment below). Today, however, AIDS usually is not diagnosed unless and until an HIV infection is diagnosed as the cause of the immune dysfunction. So as far as I am concerned, the diagnosis of AIDS is questionable at best.
