Avatar n tn I am a 48 year old male, 149 lbs, 19.5 BMI, and very active. I have never smoked cigarettes, although I did smoke marijuana for several years. I do not smoke marijuana or cigarettes presently. Here is a short rundown of my situation I had a ctScan of my thoracic region, back in March of this year to see if my kidneys were not scarred (unrelated). There was discovered that I have (had) a 9 mm nodule on my lower left lung.

Heart valve disease: This can be something you are born with or be caused by infection or degeneration/calcification of valves with age. Enlargement of the left ventricle walls (left ventricular hypertrophy).
Avatar f tn I had pneumonia, and I was hospitalize twice, once in February for 5 days and in March for 4 days, My chest scan x-ray read now I have scare tissue in both lungs. My question is, what is the definition of scare tissue, is their a cure, and how long to become 100% dissolve. As of now, after a day of activity, I get tired and my chest tightens. The doctor said the pneuumonia is gone, with the exception of plenty of scares in both lungs. Will return to my active lifestyle?
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
Avatar f tn I also said that I did not understand why we could not wait a week or two and take another Xray to see if there were changes...to see if the spot was the pneumonia. He quickly said that pneumonia takes a good 6 weeks to clear from your lungs and I should get another lung picture in 6 weeks. He did not seemed concerned at all about cancer. Or at least he did not say he was. The final doctor I saw was the regular MD who released me from the hospital.
Avatar m tn I am 61, female, had a stress test & reported diagnosis is "moderate inferior ischemia". What is the explanation (definition) of this diagnosis and what are most common treatment options/choices?
Avatar m tn //hepatitisc.uw.edu/go/screening-diagnosis/acute-diagnosis/core-concept/all The doctor may actually want to wait for treatments in the pipeline that have higher cure rates, a shorter term treatment, and fewer side effects than a interferon/ribavirin treatment.
Avatar n tn Such results are more consistent with the diagnosis of asthma. Interesting that you would have had pneumonia as there is an increased risk of pneumonia for persons using an inhaled steroid. Despite that alleged risk, the benefit of these drugs far outweighs the risk of pneumonia in the majority of persons.
Avatar n tn I am a 29 year old female, never smoked, healthy weight and beside breathing and anxiety issues healthy.
Avatar f tn Anyway I saw the consultant at exactly 3 weeks after the pneumonia diagnosis and 3 different antibiotics (clarithromycin, co-amoxyclav and another one beginning with T - can't remember!) anyway I had an X-ray and the consultant has said there is an abnormality on my lung and I have a CT scan booked tomorrow and follow up with the consultant on Tuesday. So now I am really anxious and getting worried that I have lung cancer or something.
994239 tn?1321203620 Hello, Cough and/or coughing up phlegm are symptoms you may not necessarily have. The definitive diagnosis of pneumonia is based on chest xray with combination of symptoms. So, your situation is possible. I remember I had pneumonia as a child with the only symptom of vomiting. My mother took me to the hospital and a diagnosis of pneumonia was made based on my chest xray.
Avatar f tn you need to go to the Doctor and find out why you are having trouble taking a deep breath and then depending on what the diagnosis is that will depend on what treatment you receive For example of you have pneumonia then the treatment would be antibiotics and maybe other stuff life steroids and breathing treatments, I'm not saying that's what you have though the only way to know what is going on is to get checked out by your MD Hope you feel better soon
Avatar n tn t a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia. Most pneumonia is infectious, and is most times caused by strep bacteria, so they throw antibiotics at it, and see how the patient responds, there are more aggressive atypical bacterial pneumonia that may require more aggressive treatment, also a persons age, and strength of their immune system is a major factor as well. But there are also viral, fungal, or less commonly parasitic causes of pneumonia.
Avatar n tn what does it mean if my hispathologic diagnosis states that there are reactive hepatocytes present in my liver?
Avatar n tn Dreaming is thought to be a continuous process throughout all sleep stages, although the most vivid dreams normally occur during the REM sleep stage. If you are in fact dreaming then you are by definition asleep and benefitting from that. If you are experiencing hypersomnia or excessive sleeping and the resulting dreams that could be a legit issue, unsure from your post. A doc can help you unwind this.
Avatar n tn He asked if I was sick before the pneumonia diagnosis and the answer is yes. I have had a lot of breathing problems, weight loss, bone pain, shrinking in height, weakness, and stomach problems also. I have also taken a ct scan and I am waiting on the results. Should I be worried and what other test can I ask for or specialitst should I see? I am currently seeing a lung specialist and ENT(for polyps and nasal blockage)Please give me some direction and questions that I should be asking!!!
Avatar n tn Would carinii pneumonia present itself with just a minor cough and congestion and no fever, no rash or other symptoms. In other words is this type of pneumonia something that is more severe? I have not had an exposure to someone with HIV, but I have allowed myself to receive oral sex on occasion from guys that I did not know their HIV status.
Avatar n tn Depends on definition of cure. This is a contraversial topic. The prevailing opinion seems to be that, for all intents and purposes, SVR is a cure. It is still debated whether traces of the virus can still be detected with sensitive enough tests. SRV patients have been tracked for many years and the relapse/reinfection rate is statistically so low as not to be a serious factor. That is my understanding anyway. Please correct me if I am wrong (someone).
Avatar m tn Looking for the same answer...my 3 1/2 year old son has just had his third diagnosis of traces of pneumonia that required a shot in each leg followed by oral antibiotics. Don't know why he is susceptible to this and wondering if his room has mold or something. He does have peanuts allergy; haven't had him tested yet for asthma susceptibility, which we've heard is possible when there are allergies.
