pneumonia

Avatar f tn Good morning I'm being treated for pneumonia just started antibiotics last nite feeling a lol worse off but my question is walking pneumonia contagious......it's funny but ct images showed fluid on right lung and I have side pain ouchee! But now more symptoms are appearing.
Avatar f tn Pneumonia is not contagious. But it is usually a result of some other kinda bug thats not treated resulting in that it causes fluid on the lungs, which takes a while to turn into pneumonia. If you arnt having symptoms of the original chest cold, or flu your fine.
Avatar m tn Well pneumonia is not an STD. You don't get it that way. Maybe you are worried about a urinary tract infection? Generally, Strep. pneumoniae it the " classic" type of bacteria for pneumonia but there are other bacteria that can cause pneumonia. So if you have frequent urination that is hard to go and and especially if it burns when you go that could be a sign of a urinary tract infection. If it is gone then I wouldn't worry about it.
Avatar f tn t a category for walking pneumonia or upper respiratory infection , so here it goes anyway. Ok, so Last week on februrary the 2nd I got a sore throat, the next day I had a runny nose and felt like **** for a few days after that and then I developed a cough, I went to the doctor and he said I had upper respiratory infection (bronchitis).. so he gave me a z pac which lasted 5 days, and after day 3 I started feeling better and after the last pill, I felt fine. No cough, no sore throat, nothing.
Avatar m tn These complications can include dehydration, ear or sinus infections, and bacterial or viral pneumonia, which can fill the air sacs in the lungs with pus or fluid, making it difficult to breathe and depriving older patients of adequate oxygen. In some cases, pneumonia may be asymptomatic, but it is still contagious if it results from a bacterial or viral infection.
Avatar m tn would systemic candida cause sensory neural hearing loss .I have severe itching in my nose and on my face if I don't shave every day .it seems to be something fungal or bacterial you can see it in my mucous under high magnification I just don't know how to identify it by name .the only thing I can tell you is that it is affected by saline and peppermint altoids .I am eating immune boosting foods and drinks .
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia today and I've been getting radiation for my left breast for cancer for the last three weeks. First, did the radiation weaken my lungs to make me getting pneumonia easier? Secondly should I continue with the radiation while taking antibiotics or wait until I'm over the medicine or just the 48 hours that the doctor said I would be contagious?
Avatar f tn Some things like strep that you treat with antibiotics are contagious and antibiotics work within 48 hours (can be around people, no problem). But in general, lots of things that antibiotics are given for are not contagious such as a sinus infection. That is bacterial in your sinuses--- you can't really give that bacteria to someone. BUT, the reason why most people have sinus infections, bronchitis, etc.
Avatar f tn If your immune system fought it off, I would say that your baby is okay. Since you're sharing your blood and immune system with the baby right now, s/he shouldn't have any effects from pneumonia.
4479186 tn?1355208566 A reason i am questioning what i may be treating is because ive looked up how contagious scabies is and my son has not gotten infected again. Ive switched to ivry soap and use Curel lotion, still no help. I have washed all our clothes and treated my whole house with pestosides. Still i have severe itching and it has gotten to the point were i cannot sleep at night. PLease Help ME SOMEBODY!!!?? Question: 1. Did we even have Scabies in the first place? 2.
Avatar n tn Until the rash has developed crusts, a person is extremely contagious. The person is no longer contagious after the virus has disappeared. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Your temperature should not exceed 102.5 or so for the health of your baby. If your mom or anyone close to you is sick it is highly advised you stay away from them till symptoms subside. My brother in law lives with us and has bad allergies and though they aren't contagious I enforce him taking his meds like crazy! You should definitely go to a doctor to be safe. Better safe than sorry.
Avatar m tn I had protected sex 5 times with a friend with HSV 2. She didn't tell me until last night. She said it wasn't important because she's not contagious and hasn't had an outbreak since May then she started her meds. That's what her doctor told her she says. I automatically freaked out because thats something you should tell someone, isn't it? She said she had it for about 6 or 7 months and has been on Valacyclovir for 4 or 5 months.
Avatar n tn He has had 2 children and has had several girlfriends and partners and said that he is not contagious because none of his previous partners contracted it. Is this possible? I don't think he has ever used any medications like Valtrex. I want to be with him but I am a little hesitant to believe all this because of asymptomatic shedding, do some people with herpes not shed the virus when symptoms aren't present? What precautions should I take?
Avatar n tn They found scars on my lungs and that the repeat exam is needed to find out for sure if the scars are infectious or not. I have not had any history of TB or any lung or pulmonary disorder in the past. I am already 40 years old and this is not the first time I took an xray test. there were no such findings in my past results, so why now? I am really disturbed. Also, if their findings are positive towards the lung scars, will that be grounds for them to declare me as unfit to work?
242516 tn?1368223905 m sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread. A bacteria is its own living cell and multiplies and spreads on its own and is easier to destroy in that process.
Avatar n tn I have been the caretaker for my mother-in-law who lives with me and my family. She needs full care, bathing, diapering, etc due to paralysis from a stroke many years ago and arthritis on her good side. She came down with symptoms of a cold, then weezing, which the Dr. attempted to get under control through a few rounds of antibiotics...a month later she was in the hospital with pneumonia, blood in urine, and overall weakness and confusion.
Avatar f tn Hello~It is possible, but I think it would take a few days to show up. You may have had this "virus" for a few days already, and it would have shown up irregardless if you had kissed her or not. I would see your doctor and get on an antibiotic for it. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn yes being always cold is the real indication to have a chronic infection. Yes it is passed from person to person as it is contagious. The pneumonia I have is NOT through a tick bite. Mycoplasma can be transmitted by insects but also not necessarily.
Avatar n tn My 20 y.o..son has been dx with this. He has had several freezing treatments to remove them. He has seen a decrease in the formation of the bumps, but i am worried that he will have another "flare up" when he returns to college. he was very run down during the last semester (he had pneumonia) and i wonder how much that had to do with him getting this disease. I understand that this is considered an STD, but can also be gotten through other means (sharing towels etc,)...
Avatar n tn She says that her doctor told her that its not a serious strand and that she is not contagious. She was told that it could have lay in her system undetected for awhile and something set it off. Is this possible or am I still at risk of infection? She has no warts or any other symptoms. I don't know if it's related but a few months ago she got and IUD. Her sexual energy spiked and she has completely stopped having periods. Is this possibly what released the HPV?
Avatar n tn Nothing in your post is any risk for HIV. As long as you did not have unprotected anal or vaginal sex and you did not share any IV drug needles then you had no risk and do not need to test.
Avatar f tn If your contagious absolutely not!
