pneumonia

Avatar m tn A month long chest infection has developed into Pneumonia. After earlier courses of Amoxicillin, then Zithromax, upon determining Pneumonia I have been prescribed Levaquin, a much stronger antibiotic; But the Levaquin costs $ 264, which I can not afford. Is there a comparable antibiotic I can take that is more reasonably priced?
Avatar f tn i think the tiredness goes hand in hand with pneumonia and any long term infection, however some types of pneumonia can cause anaemia (low amount of red blood cells) so this may also need to be checked out. I have terrible pain in my lungs every time i breathe or god forbid cough - i think it can be due to the actual infection the pneumonia causes or sometimes inflammation of the linings of the lungs.
Avatar m tn Aspiration pneumonia is a result of constant acid reflux into the stomach. You've probably haven't developed it yet, and you'll be probably fine, when you control your stomach infection, since this should stop your burping. Aspiration pneumonia can be only prevented, not really treated. Steroids maybe, but I guess, you don't have pneumonia already.
Avatar n tn You need other antibiotics depending on what kind of strain you have you need medical attention. No money go to clinic or hosp.
1472764 tn?1287588186 I've finally broken down and taken the antibiotics. Temp was 100.2 today. 10 days of azythromyocin. 1 pill a day. Dr. said its safe for pregnancy. I'm also taking probiotics to counteract yeast. Has anyone else been in this situation? Was your pregnancy and baby okay? I'm so worried.
1618318 tn?1318196283 I have swallowing disorders that put me at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Are there any tests that can be done to differentiate the type of pneumonia? I have had several xrays done on my chest and was put on antibiotics.
1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
Avatar f tn HI, Stresses, fever, general ill-health, antibiotics all have the potential of affecting your periods. Hence you should take care of your health, take rest and de-stress. If you do not get your periods in another week then the pregnancy test should be repeated. For a better confirmation of a pregnancy blood test for HCG and an ultrasound scan can be done. Consult your Doctor. The answer is based on information provided.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
242516 tn?1368223905 Conditions that increase the risk of bacterial infection including the complication of pneumonia include the elderly or those with heart and lung disease. Another helpful reference includes the American College of Physicians, Annals of Internal Medicine, 20 March 2001, Volume 134, Number 6. http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/abstract/134/6/479 When do I need antibiotics for sinusitis, as an adult? Doc! My face hurts on one side and colored mucous is coming out!
Avatar f tn try giving him a soft food diet. my dog had to go on one when she had a bacterial infection in her intestinal track. i can't remember exactly what was on it but i know one of the things was cream of wheat which if he is having trouble chewing so that is why he isn't eating that he really can swallow instead if chew. if you call and ask you vet i bet they can give it it you over the phone.
Avatar f tn ve had it and gone without antibiotics. It took me months to get rid of. The next time I got it, I did not want to suffer for months on end for no reason so I got antibiotics immediately. Trust me, it's not worth going without the meds, so get it checked out and get well.
Avatar f tn I am just guessing, but it seems like if you were diagnosed early and take your antibiotics or whatever the doctor has said to do, you won't have long-term negative results from a bout of pneumonia. I've had a lot of friends who have had it at one time or another, and the only risk is if they don't get treated.
Avatar n tn You probably did have pneumonia, but since you have been on a week of antibiotics, it is resolving. There is evidence that it is there though by the sounds of your xray. It is good that it isn't a whopping infection though...hopefully the antibiotics finish their job :) Are you feeling better now? Any fevers, chills? If so, then I would talk to your doctor to touch base.
Avatar f tn Yes “walking pneumonia” is contagious. The development of more symptoms, in the face of antibiotic therapy, is worrisome as is the “side pain” which I assume to be pleurisy and suggests that this infection may fall into the category of complicated pneumonia. In this circumstance you should definitely request careful reevaluation by your doctor or his designate to include at a minimum a repeat chest X-ray, a complete blood count and culture of your sputum.
620048 tn?1358018235 that is recommended for treatment of pneumonia. The steroid is probably more for your COPD then the pneumonia itself as your breathing is probably worse. In hospital they would have started you on IV steroids and then tapered you to the oral dose. most people stay in the hospital only a few days with moderate pneumonia. With the added respiratory problems maybe you would have stayed in another day or two. Depending on your respiratory status prior to the pneumonia could be 2-4 weeks.
Avatar m tn You son was just diagnosed with pneumonia but consistently complains that his feet hurt. He's on antibiotics and all and drinking well. I'm just worried about him saying his feet always hurt. He's a 3 year old boy. Any suggestions or help?

5915949 tn?1396188227 And i just finished a different course of antibiotics for a uti. Both meds were class b drugs. The benefits def. outweighed the risks for me. But its up to you and whatever you decide.
Avatar m tn I did want to mention that many patients have actually had much, much lower occurrences of pneumonia when they began a nightly routine of flossing, brushing the tongue with a toothbrush, and brushing the teeth. Keeping the mouth very clean, and lowering the bacteria content of the mouth overall, seems to make a GREAT difference in preventing pneumonia. Not sure why, but this has been quite effective in the past.
4498734 tn?1355501804 I was on antibiotics for an impacted tooth and was then put on antibiotics for pneumonia and told to stop taking the antibiotics for my tooth. Now the pneumonia seems to be clearing up but the infection in my mouth seems to be coming back. What could I do?
Avatar m tn Then they took a chess x-ray and saw that I have pneumonia. My question is can pneumonia cause all of this? Or do I need to worry further?
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn I was put on a couple of different antibiotics and the only thing that has changed was the color of my phlegm instead of being green and bloody its now just a thick white substance. i am having extremly bad pain in my chest its just about constant and gets worse with breathing and coughing. my doctor put me on pregnisone and anti-inflammatory's which just arent helping either is there anything else i can do? or could it be something else?
Avatar m tn My 4 yr. old son was diagnosed with walking pneumonia after getting hives on his face 2 days in a row. At first we thought it was an allergy we couldn't put our finger on because he has an allergy to dairy and sesame. But he hadn't come in contact with either one. Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. They go away within the hour without any treatment.
