Pneumonia antibiotics for treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia antibiotics for treatment

pneumonia

Avatar m tn Having diarrhea after antibiotics is not rare, but also not normal. I recommend you to have stool test for C-diff and for occult blood. Having problems with breathing is probably from the acid coming up into your throat and then down into lungs. You should fix this promptly, it may damage your lungs (aspiration pneumonia, with lung scars). There's another possibility - alergy to one of antibiotics. Would you say you have any lips or face swelling or skin itching?
250084 tn?1303307435 I got really much better two days after I was finished with the meds. My experience with antibiotics is that it always takes a few days after finishing treatment before one actually feels better. But if you don't, be sure to go back to your doctor, as you may need more or maybe a different kind of antibiotics. I hope you get well fast... Marcia P.S. My Mom had leukemia and was thus prone to pneumonia. It happened twice that she had to change antibiotics, as the one used was not working.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar f tn I get bronchitis all the time as well. I've had it and gone without antibiotics. It took me months to get rid of. The next time I got it, I did not want to suffer for months on end for no reason so I got antibiotics immediately. Trust me, it's not worth going without the meds, so get it checked out and get well.
Avatar n tn Hi bibban12, The thing about pneumonia is it's just a broad term for lung inflammation, and the air sacs filling up with fluid, but it isn't a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia.
Avatar m tn Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. They go away within the hour without any treatment. Has anyone heard of this? Shouldn't the antibiotics be helping if the hives are because of the pneumonia or are the hives from something else?
Avatar f tn Ok, I have a question. I have been on different antibiotics for pneumonia, bronchitis, strep, etc. This year I had a really bad case of pneumonia and a variety of infections following it. If I have been on all these antibiotics, why am I still having symptoms of Lyme? This is not the first time I have been on antibiotics for a long period of time.
Avatar f tn In looking at the drug interaction information, it seems that those who are taking the corticosteriods, are even more at risk for muscle rupture and more at risk for developing pneumonia. A chest x-ray a couple of days ago confirmed that I do NOT have pneumonia now, but I can still hear sounds in my lungs when I do deep breathing.
Avatar f tn you need to go to the Doctor and find out why you are having trouble taking a deep breath and then depending on what the diagnosis is that will depend on what treatment you receive For example of you have pneumonia then the treatment would be antibiotics and maybe other stuff life steroids and breathing treatments, I'm not saying that's what you have though the only way to know what is going on is to get checked out by your MD Hope you feel better soon
Avatar n tn Agree with caregiver, if you are having frequent sinus infections, see an ENT. And it's true that sinus infections become encapsulated, good term, and antibiotics can't penetrate the mass. The most effective treatment then is to wash out the mass with saline. Saline rinses and sprays won't work if the problem is in the upper sinuses, but a Sinus Flush works well, which I will recommend only if the antibiotics don't work: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn Not too long ago in history, it was common for people to die from such things. Antibiotics definitely remove such infections, and without treatment the toxins would eventually burst into the blood stream, killing us. My wife nearly died of pneumonia and was on life support. Without antibiotics she would have died because the body is too weak to fight the infection during such times, especially after major surgery which she had just had. You have your facts twisted.
Avatar m tn He said that I had Walking Pneumonia and gave me different medicine. 6 days later, I woke up at 4AM gasping for air. I went to the ER, had another chest x-ray, and was told I had Viral Pneumonia. I was given different medications (and an inhaler with aerochamber) and sent home. The medicine was actually starting to work until it ran out. I finally got in to see my regular doctor. He examined me and decided something had irritated my lungs. He put me on an Advair inhaler.
Avatar f tn I had texted with my physician and after being sick for 11 days, he had put me on mild Antibiotics Azithromycin 250mg for 5 days (first day 500mg) saying I probably have walking pneumonia. I had Mycoplasma walking pneumonia 2x before in 2009 already. It slowly improved after taking it and I'm better, but still not healthy and feel it is getting worse again. Every inbreath I feel a cold tickling in the mid chest area and feel I need to suppress a dry cough.
Avatar n tn I recently had my puppy who was less than 2 years old pass away from aspiration pneumonia. I tried everything from antibiotics to oxygen therapy and nebulization treatment. Unfortunately, he just couldn't handle it and 3 days later he was gone. I've been thinking about it the last couple of months and trying to understand what aspiration pneumonia is and how it caused his death. The vet explained to me that aspiration pneumonia is an infection that can feel like a chemical burn.
1472764 tn?1287588186 When I had pneumonia with my daughter, I was on antibiotics to clear it up and everything was fine. I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe.
Avatar m tn The question is whether I should continue the interferon treatment when I am fighting the pneumonia. Your kind advice is very much appreciated. Many thanks. I myself has also had bronchiectasis (at lingular) though the pneumonia this time is at right lobe.
1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
1618318 tn?1318196283 I have swallowing disorders that put me at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Are there any tests that can be done to differentiate the type of pneumonia? I have had several xrays done on my chest and was put on antibiotics.
Avatar n tn these are your antibiotics? why do you think your kitties need antibiotics? what strength are they and how much do the kitties weigh? you do know that using an antibiotic on cats can be dangerous...you have to be very sure there is an actual infection, than the culture needs to show what antib will work for that strain.
Avatar f tn I was on (and still am) several antibiotics and even had the cyst removed. The doctor had the cyst sent out for a culture and found out it is still infected which means more antibiotics. Is there some other way to get rid of the infection? Isn't it dangerous to have it go on this long. I have been fighting the pneumonia pretty much all summer. Although I feel better, I am still trying to get rid of the infection.
Avatar f tn Dear Pizmo9, Treatment for cancer can put you at increased risk for conditions such as pneumonia. The decision as to when to resume radiation therapy should be be made in consultation with your radiation oncologist who will advise based on your overall clinical condition.
