Common Questions and Answers about Plavix chest pain

plavix

Avatar f tn Hi, I've got a question if anyone can help me. I've had a stent since Oct. of last year. Recently I got chest pains again and Tuesday I had an angiogram and more stenting, but it didn't go very well. He stented one small-ish artery, tried to do another but the artery was too small so he just put a balloon in it (angioplasty?).
Avatar m tn Since that time, I have had problems with chest pain and stomach pain, along with a host of other pains. I had a second cath to look at my heart because of the chest pain and the heart was said to be fine. Having a hard time sleeping at night and anxiety is building because of the pain. Anyone else have these issues? Also, is there a blood test that can be given to see if the Plavix even works for my gene make-up?
Avatar n tn t the reason for your pain i still had chest pain and found out one of the stents didnt hold you should tell your dr you are still having pain
Avatar n tn I recently got off plavix, (2 1/2) weeks ago and yesterday I experienced severe chest pain, so severe I screamed several times. The pain started on the right side of my chest when I had bent over and then I had to sit down because the pain continued. The pain then shifted over to the left side and all throughout my chest. I called my cardiologist and he told me to go to the hospital, which I did. They evaluated me over night and only did some blood tests.
1210142 tn?1266077031 When you stopped the plavix, did your chest pain decrease? My husband is in the SAME BOAT as you. Severe chest and stomach pains ever since his initial cardiac event in March 2012 -- this resulted in placement of one stent in artery 90% blocked and no stent in another artery that was too small and 'kinked' to get a stent in. He was put on several meds and sent home, and has never felt well since.
Avatar n tn I HAD A CATH DONE , THERE WHERE NO BLOCKAGE, BUT THE HEART IS STILL RACING, I FEEL LIKE SOME ONE IS SITTING ON MY CHEST, AND I HAVE CHEST PAIN. I DO HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND CHOLOSTROL, AND TAKE MEDS, FOR THOSE, THE DR. GAVE ME PLAVIX AND NITRO TO TAKE, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTION ON WHAT THIS IS?
Avatar f tn It might be necessary to increase the Nexium dose, but from my experience, this is a very minor issue. The need to take Plavix trumps the Nexium issue. Plavix and aspirin are essential to keep your stents from plugging up again. It sounds like your hospital doesn't have a good program in place for education after an MI and cath. I work a day a week at our hospital as a Cardiac Navigator, as I've had MI's, eight stents, a pacer and bypass surgery and still standing.
Avatar f tn 80 and 85% in my left leg. Over the past month I have had severe recurring chest pain. Over the past few days, I have been expteriencing nausea with the pain. I also had serious lower abdominal cramping, sometimes along with the chest pain, sometimes by itself. I went to the hospital because both pains became unbearable. EKG indicated I was not having a heart attack. Gall bladder was fine. I did have a urinary tract infection. Was given an antibiotic, and pain relievers and sent home.

Avatar n tn On 3d catherization in 9 years, 2 stents placed end to end in LAD. Placed on 10mg Effient; after 5 weeks changed over to 75 mg Plavix (also take 30 mg Isosorbide monitrate along w/0.81 mg aspirin. For first 4+ weeks heaviness in chest w/periodic angina. Notice with excitement or now-a propensity to become angrier easier, have chest pains for awhile. I have always been very healthy and full of energy-that is, until this year.
Avatar n tn Small dose aspirin is fine to take with Plavix. Plavix is good so that you do not develop blood clots especially if you have coated stents. Some doctors recommend 6 months to a year on Plavix and some recommend for life. Plavix will help to avoid having heart attacks and strokes. The blood in your mouth is most likely because of the Plavix along with the bruising. It is the side effects. The circulation is from your heart medication and heart medication makes you tired.
Avatar n tn Is it normal to have chest pain while your walking after haveing four stents put in nine months ago?
1210142 tn?1266077031 Thank you for your response. I know for sure that the BP medications are giving me chest pain, back pain, nausea and dizziness. I am back on Lisinopril since Losartan did not do any good. My BP became higher- between 131 and 146 over 89/92 so the dizziness is definetely not because of the law blood pressure. Carvedilol is the one giving me problems so I wanted to find out: since I had MI but not heart failure- is is absolutely necessary to take beta blockers?
Avatar n tn Recently I had a stent put into a branch and it was close to the main artery and the Dr said the plaque shifted. He ballooned the main artery and I felt fine. After a few days of being fine I had a sudden onset of chest pressure and jaw pain and it was relieved with 2 nitroglycerin. I've noticed chest pressure since then sometimes with jaw pain, sometimes without and burning at times under my sternum.
Avatar n tn An individual should experience more energy and no chest pain after a stent(s) implant as the symptoms for vessel occlusions are chest pain and lack of energy . That was my experience, and I had had a silent heart attack (MI) causing congested heart failure (hospitalized for several days in ICU to stablize oxygen ratio, etc.). You should have consult with a cariologist as there is a possiblity of restenosis caused by a clot at the site of the implant.

1758180 tn?1312813369 after checking with my cardiologist about my shoulder blade and chest pain, I was given a clean bill of health. Stint is ok, pain turned out to be a pulled muscle (from golfing and bicycling). I was really worried but it turned out ok. My doctor said he knew it wasn't the stint because they usually don't have trouble with a stent for at least 4 months.....ha ha...( he is quite a joker, but a good doctor)....
Avatar m tn t having event, but non-specific chest pain. That was Monday night. Now I wake up with my heart racing and blood pressure rising. I also wake up exhausted. I think this is from coming off of the Lopressor. I called my MD and they said just go back to regular dose of atenolol. Does anyone know how long I will feel like this coming off Lopressor or will I have to go on this med from now on? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I am a physically fit, active, 42 y/o male who after an emergemcy room visit for r/o chest pain, negative stress echo, negative labs and 4 months of excersional chest pain had a caring pcp refer me to a cardiologist. To my surprise during the angio a 95% blockage of the LAD was stented and the RCA had a 50% blockage along with the curcumflex, both of the latter were left untouched. Immediately after the procedure I felt a sharp pain in the position of the stent.
Avatar f tn I looked up more detailed information on Plavix and about 1% to 2.5% of patients may get anxiety or insomnia from Plavix. So it's possible that your insomnia could be caused by the Plavix.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a double bypass in May 2011, three months ago and in the past two weeks i am getting very intense chest pain like i had before the surgery. I am having an angiogram in 5 days time and i am worried as they cannot put stents in because i am on Warfarin (Comadum} and they cannot give me another blood thinner for the platlets as they do when they put in stents. I have just turned 60. Thanks a mill!

1210142 tn?1266077031 Every day I have pain- it doesn’t matter if I exercise or just sit in my office. The pain may start in the middle of the chest but moves to right or left, goes to back/upper part only/ and my shoulders/ and both arms/mostly left/. Right above my breast bones hurt sometimes more and it is very tender to touch. Before I had my heart attack, I have never experienced anything like that- everything started after the stents were placed.
Avatar f tn I had a double by-pass July 2009 . I started having chest pains within a month afterwards. Really more like a balloon being blown up in my chest, come to find out after months of looking for other issues, not heart related, and a vistit to the ER it was discovered one of the arteries had collasped and had to be stented. My problem now is I have very bad reaction to most medication, I can not take Plavics and was put on a new thiner called Effient.
Avatar n tn It is uncommon for patients to have chest pain after PFO closure done percutaneously but common if it was done by open heart surgery. Make sure there is no pericardial effusion on the follow-up echo as this could indicate a potential problem from the closure. I would talk to the doctor who did the procedure.
