976897 tn?1379167602 m on no beta blockers or blood pressure meds at the moment. They decided to look at my blood pressure because of the recent loss of my wife. I saw my Cardiologist last week and my BP then was 155/101 and he said he wasn't concerned and it was likely the recent stress causing it. He said he would leave it a few months. I still haven't heard anything from my Doctor about the results. I used to take Ramipril ace inhibitors back from 2007-2009.
Avatar f tn my mother was asked to stop taking plavix by her cardiologist and since then has had severe headaches and increased blood pressure. She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
Avatar n tn Plavix is a blood thinner and I didn't know it affected pressure? Anyway, dental cleaning can produce a tiny amount of gum bleeding and will not produce any problems. I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months and it soon stops bleeding. The problems come if you need a tooth removed. Flycaster is correct, your dentists should always have a list of current medication.
Avatar f tn But, I still ended up in the ER after the first year of walking and required a stent. It was then that I started on blood pressure meds and the aspirin and Plavix, etc. It was by choice that I stopped taking the Plavix. I know the doctors would prefer that I continue with this, but I don't care for the side effects. I felt great until last summer when I wasn't able to walk. There was a heat wave in this part of Texas and I couldn't tolerate the intense heat.
Avatar n tn In preparation for the test, or just as a precaution, he was put on Plavix even though he was on aspirin therapy. He does not have high blood pressure and is diabetic. Before the test could be performed, he had a massive gastrointestinal bleed. After a week in the hospital, and many blood transfusions, he is home recovering. The source of the bleeding was never found, but apparently resolved itself. He still wants to go for this test, but we are worried about him going on Plavix again.
1210142 tn?1266077031 If you take plavix, are you going to bleed to death or suffer brain damage? not likely. Just keep your blood pressure in the normal range. If I cut myself, I still stop bleeding, it just takes about twice as long than it used to. I think plavix is very important for CAD sufferers. The half life of plavix is short anyway, so if it came to some emergency, it wouldn't take long for the effect to wear off.
Avatar m tn A stroke in 2004 left me with left side weakness due from a large blood clot. Then another stroke in 2008 from another blood clot that hit behind the left eye. I had angioplasty in 2003 for a 75% and 90% blockage but no stents. After the first stoke I was put on Coumadin and thin soon thereafter put on only two baby aspirin. In getting ready for sius surgery in 2008 I was taken off my aspirin for 8 days and the day before the surgery had the second stroke.
Avatar f tn I am a 72 year old female. I have been taking take medication for high blood pressure for 20 years, which is controled. I have been taking coumadin for 6 years because I have atrial fibrilation. Because electro-conversions and medications to stabilize this condition stopped working I had an ablation and pacemaker inserted to regulate my heartbeat in 2004.
475570 tn?1280941363 In as many as 95% of reported high blood pressure cases in the United States, the underlying cause cannot be determined. This type of high blood pressure is called essential hypertension. Statistics show that high bp tends to run in families, and is greatly influenced by diet and lifestye. Who Is More Likely to Develop High Blood Pressure?
Avatar f tn Sine this procedure he’s been put on plavix, 81mg aspirin, and 2 different types of blood pressure meds and he’s never had any problems with his blood pressure. Niw he’s bleeding from his ear. Wat is he to do. Has always been very active and now is completely exhausted all the time.
Avatar f tn I've seen urologist..
Avatar f tn So in addition aspirin (inhibits platelets) there is Plavix that reduces the risk of blood clots, and the usual therapy is to take Plavix for a year (after a year less risk for clots) and aspirin therapy is continued indifinitely to inhibit platelet formation. To prevent this, patients have to take two different anti-platelet agents. So, aspirin inhibits platelets, it's a fairly mild drug, and there's another drug we use routinely called Plavixl.
Avatar n tn We have always found ourselves concerned with keeping his blood pressure from being too high. In the past 8 months he has been hospitalized about a dozen times for fluid overload. He has had to stop working and is basically home bound if not bed ridden some days. His blood pressure has now dropped to anywhere from 110 - 90 on the top and 40-55 on the bottom. Is this a sign that his heart has gotten worse? He takes several meds including plavix and coreg.

Avatar n tn could lack of adequate blood flow to the heart muscle cause angina without blockage? I have a heart that races a lot, the doctor has talked about putting a def. in for the racing, some time I've has passed out, but always come back to. is this because there not a lot of blood getting to the heart. I've had a cath done and it's shows there no blockages, I do take plavix and nitro and blood pressure pills, if I have no blockage, why i'm I taking plavix?
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
Avatar n tn I HAD A CATH DONE , THERE WHERE NO BLOCKAGE, BUT THE HEART IS STILL RACING, I FEEL LIKE SOME ONE IS SITTING ON MY CHEST, AND I HAVE CHEST PAIN. I DO HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND CHOLOSTROL, AND TAKE MEDS, FOR THOSE, THE DR. GAVE ME PLAVIX AND NITRO TO TAKE, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTION ON WHAT THIS IS?
Avatar n tn I take aspirin 325, plavix, 80mg lipitor, protonix (just to protect stomach), 10mg zetia, capoten 25mg 3x, imdur 60mg 2x. I did have high blood pressure (150+/80+ p90) but am now unexplainably low 80/60 p 60 while on same meds. My question is – what do I do now?. Could these new stents possibly be failing?
Avatar n tn I have a blockage somewhere in the area of the heart { lower descending anterior coronary artery region } I am an afib patient with high blood pressure, hypertension, diabetic, thyroid and bleeding from the rectum because of hemoroids and have recently failed my stress test and ordered to have an anteriogram in the stent room just in case... I also have a low blood count.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist performed a special blood test and found that although Plavix thinned my blood, it was not an effective medication for my body chemistry. There are many others. You may want to have your cardiologist speak directly to your gasteroenterologist. If he won't listen or work with you, it is time to find another. Good luck.
Avatar n tn First stent and the second time, I developed allergic reaction to Plavix, second time with Ticlid, had 2 small seisures, tried Plavix again with Benadryl, this time developed intercranial bleeding. Angina symptoms have reoccured, but cardiologists will not tell me what I can do if I cannot take blood thinners (I have allergic reactions or bad reactions to almost all meds). I'm just told, "We'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Avatar f tn What other drugs are you taking? There are a number of drugs that cause your symptoms, most commonly beta blockers. I took Plavix for about five years, and it didn't reduce my blood pressure, but beta blockers certainly did. Until you find the answer, be careful getting up at night or after resting, sit on the edge of the bed for a bit before standing up.
Avatar m tn t they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries? She is also tiny in height (5 ft) and I'm concerned that both are too much for her. She's already complained about the losartan saying that within an hour after taking it, she couldn't keep her eyes open or do anything much but sleep. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn t quite understand, the operative report includes notes about additional platlets, some bleeding, and I was in the hospital for over a week. I did have low blood pressure problems following the surgery but that was because of my weakened heart, not because of bleeding. I'm off of Plavix now, it's been over a year since I had a drug-eluding stent.
Avatar n tn Heart discomforts can be in the back or in the front of the chest, so I would take the safe option and have him checked out. How is his blood pressure? If they run tests and find nothing, ask for a 24hr or 48hr holter monitor. It's always the way when you go to hospital, nothing happens so nothing is detected.
Avatar m tn After the did the first stent they told us it would only be a month on Plavix but after the last episode they decided that he needed to be on it for a year. He is also taking 2 blood pressure pills, Coreg, and Zocor. So I guess it just depends on your case and your doctor.
Avatar n tn Since Plavix is a blood thinner, of course any surgeon would like for you to be off it and it out of your system completely before performing any kind of surgery, including something as minor as having your teeth cleaned. I don't know enough obout thrombosis to answer that part of your question, but I do understand a doctor/surgeon wanting you off the Plavix. Have you asked the neurosurgeon about your history of thrombosis and what happened when you stopped taking Plavix in the past?
Avatar f tn Have you talked about this with yoru doctor or pharmacist? Have you considered the hives not being drug related and reviewed any recent soaps/lotions/etc changes? An underlying autoimmune illness is a cause of some cases of urticaria. For me, I've always been hive-y and break out from no apparent allergan.
