plavix

623823 tn?1357416657 Sever low back pain, groin pain, buttocks pain, burning sensation in right thigh and pain down right leg. I am going back to my PCP today to see what can be done for this.
329994 tn?1301663248 No, my cardio doctor did not take the blood pressure in my legs. He did an ultrasound of my ankles and the area at my groin and leg. I don't know what pedal or popliteal mean? Since my post, I have seen my cardio doc again and he did some tests on me and wants me to see a neurologist for possible spinal stenosis. I am in the works for arranging that right now. My cholesterol hasn't been tested for almost a year, it was 211. I get tested again in June and am hoping it is down.
161427 tn?1229911282 ) the smaller strokes, She is on Lipitor and Plavix, and due to a mixup at the pharmacy she was off her Plavix for almost a week and the improvents were dramatic!!
Avatar m tn My first stent was fitted in 2007 (feb) and was DES. I was on aspirin and plavix until June 2009 and angiograms were showing no restenosis at all. I can off plavix at that time, and by march 2011 it has formed a blockage. Now I am on plavix for life. It seems that the risk for DES blocking becomes higher in some people once plavix is stopped. They believe the problem associated with this is the drug delivery problem from the stent.
Avatar n tn After that length of time it is generally believed to discontinue plavix but remain on aspirin. Although plavix and aspirin are anti-platelet agents, plavix has a different mechanism of action that seems to be specialized for drug eluding stent to prevent restenosis. Laviquin is an antibiotic medication! and there is a class-action suit against Laviqiin providers that is currently unresolved.
Avatar n tn My cardiologist would not let my dentist allow me to stop taking Plavix for even 5 days to alleviate my pain due to a cavity .The dentist is bent upon my discontinuing Plavix to enable filling of the cavity or do root canal to solve the problem.
976897 tn?1379167602 Just to complicate the Plavix/generic Plavix issue, I was told to stop taking Plavix after bypass surgery, and the bruising immediately became a bigger issue and remains a bigger problem today. I'm not sure the bruising/bleeding issue is completely understood. I still take 80mg aspirin, and wonder if that is the cause. pippi331, sometimes one is allergic to the filler with generic drugs. I'd sure report your situation as soon as possible.

Avatar n tn You need the heart medication and Plavix and it would be risking to stop the Plavix. Lipitor is good for studies have shown that it has helped reduce cholesterol buildup in the arteries. The studies showed that 40mg was just as good as 80mg and that 80mg did not help reduce the cholesterol buildup any more than the 40mg. One question I have, is the nitro patch. Are you having chest pains? Nitro is not good for your liver.
1210142 tn?1266077031 When you stopped the plavix, did your chest pain decrease? My husband is in the SAME BOAT as you. Severe chest and stomach pains ever since his initial cardiac event in March 2012 -- this resulted in placement of one stent in artery 90% blocked and no stent in another artery that was too small and 'kinked' to get a stent in. He was put on several meds and sent home, and has never felt well since.
329994 tn?1301663248 If you are recovering from some surgery, are at rest and take Plavix, then you should schedule your appointment with your PCP or surgeon earlier. You could be having deep vein thrombosis or clots in deep veins. This should be brought to the notice of your doctor immediately. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn I did have a urinary tract infection. Was given an antibiotic, and pain relievers and sent home. The lower abdominal pain has responded to medication beautifully, but the chest paiin is getting worse and worse. I don't want to go back for fear of being labelled a hypochondriac, but the pain is very real and it occurred to me this morning that I could possibly have a collapsed stent. I stopped taking plavix 7 months ago because the cost is prohibitive.
Avatar n tn A healing leg (just out of cast) prohibits stress testing and the dr said he wouldn’t get the results he wanted anyway. I take aspirin 325, plavix, 80mg lipitor, protonix (just to protect stomach), 10mg zetia, capoten 25mg 3x, imdur 60mg 2x. I did have high blood pressure (150+/80+ p90) but am now unexplainably low 80/60 p 60 while on same meds. My question is – what do I do now?. Could these new stents possibly be failing?
338416 tn?1420045702 My doctor recommended aspirin for me, and he wanted to put me on Plavix. I resisted, because Plavix is just so dang expensive. I should pay more attention to my aspirin regimen, too - I rarely remember to take one. Now that I know, I'm going to make sure I take one every day. They were supposed to put Plavix on the generic list, but that was in February, and we're still waiting! Hubby needs it too.
Avatar f tn i was taking vytorin and plavix when i was told i have cll .
Avatar m tn Please note that the article mention plavix as used as "prevention of stroke" here we are speaking of Plavix to avoid restenosis and clots in the case that you have medical stents implanted. The situation is quite different.
Avatar f tn i am a diabetic and i take plavix i have numbness in my right leg i have no toes i have been taking penicillin for my toothe ache and i'm wondering does that have any thing to do with the numbness
Avatar n tn She is asymptomatic. She wants to go off plavix to have torn meniscus repair and gyn sugery for stress incontinence. Docs been saying "no" for last six months. My dad pressed them to due repeat stress test to see if she is" OK" , because he wants her to get knee done.{She's in pain}. Stress test was good. Wouldn't a CRP/hs-CRP give us a look at where she really stands?
Avatar f tn DES may be more vulnerable to clots than bare metal?! It is not necessary to be weaned off Plavix; I and many others have abruptly stopped without side effects. I continue with a baby aspirin daily for CAD. There is a risk/benefit for the blood medication, and the doctor is in the best position to know and evaluate the risk of bleeding with the upcoming intervention...I believe diabetes is a major factor in any decision. We have to trust our doctors, if not worthy of trust change doctors.
Avatar n tn I had a thalamic stroke December 7 and am now having pain and numbness and hypersensitivity on the affected side. This seems to shift and change day to day. What is the treatment, if any, and what is the chance this will go away over time?
255163 tn?1376869746 My heart Dr will not let me go off the plavix and my surgeon will not do the surgery while on plavix. What happens in a situation like this?. I am between a rock and a hard place. If neither Dr gives in what do I do? If I have an attack and end up in the ER wouldn't they have to do emergency sugery?. Does this mean that anyone on plavix can never have surgery unless it's an ermergency. What is your opinion on going off plavix temporarily for surgery. I would welcome anyones advice.
Avatar f tn the back doctor will not operate on plavix. the result chronic pain and pain pills every four hours and can only recline in chair. what do you do? does anyone know a back doctor in alabama or georgia with experience in these cases.
Avatar n tn I have read so often that you should not take Plavix and aspirin, but it seems to also be common to prescribe both plavix and aspirin in certain situations. I am worried and confused. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I had angioplasty in 2001 and had a stent implant. My cardiologist prescribed Plavix and 81 mg aspirin daily among the other medications (beta blocker, ACE inhibitor, statin). I have recently moved to a new city and have not found a new cardiologist yet but family physician suggested that Plavix could be discontinued as the guidelines have changed and no long recommended after 12 months post stent implant. Suggestions please?
Avatar f tn I thought about plavix and aspirin, but that would usually show discoloration...common effects from anti-platelet medication. Cramps at rest are very common, especially in older adults, but may be experienced at any age, including childhood. Rest cramps often occur during the night. While not life-threatening, night cramps (commonly known as nocturnal cramps) can be painful, disruptive of sleep, and they can recur frequently (that is, many times a night, and/or many nights each week).
Avatar n tn He went without Plavix and aspirin for 7 days. I can only imagine how much pain you are in. I would really think about the risks. From our past experience I would say it is very, very risky. Late stent thrombosis may happen rarely but it certainly does happen. Good luck to you and your wife. P.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your replies -- I called the doctor yesterday and let his nurse know I was having chest pains. She says to keep taking isosorbide, a long-acting nitro, which is why I didn't take nitro for the chest pain, for one thing the pain didn't feel too strong, but mostly because I knew I already had nitro in me and didn't want to make a big headache. Does that make any sense? Maybe I should try it anyway, to see if it does indicate blockage.
Avatar f tn The pain only occur after I walk or stand, and usually get better after I rest for 10-15 minutes. For the last 2 months, the pain in getting worst, now I also have pain in my back, hip and in my right calf. I have an X-Ray done last week, my x-ray showed mild arthritis in the disc spaces of L3-4 and L5-S1. The sacroiliac joints looked normal. I had already tried prednisone but the condition did not improve.
