Avatar f tn I actually thought it was head lice, but they don't come back. Even if I do sleep on so called "infested" pillows. I think it's either a severe form of dandruff, if not, than some kind of skin condition. My mom actually has it too, and we're the only ones in our family that has it. Thank you for your answer!

Avatar n tn So after 2 years my hair is still falling out, I am 25 yrs old now, there is no family history of hair loss or baldness, all my grandparents, parents and relatives have a full head of hair. I used to have very thick long hair, I’ve lost about 80% in thickness of my hair. I have short hairs all over my head (new growth is falling out too). There is no noticeable thinning close to the scalp, but my once thick ponytail is very thin.
17551709 tn?1457744886 I have had dandruff for years. I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.
Avatar f tn I then tried dandruff shampoo and it didn’t get rid of it either. A few other symptoms are that whenever I wash my hair, a hand full of hair would fall out and I’ve realised how much thinner my hair has become compared to before. Also at night time I would feel once or twice itchiness and sometimes I feel like an insect is crawling on my scalp. Please help!!

Avatar n tn External causes include excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair. Sometimes it can be due to fungal infection/ring worms also. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.

Sometimes an allergy to dairy products, nuts and chocolates may cause dandruff, in which case you should avoid them for about eight weeks to be able to access its effect. Eat a healthy diet. Avatar n tn I get a very itchy and when I go to put my hair up it looks like Im creating snow with the amount of flaks that come out. so why would my dandruff appear after so long without any?
Avatar f tn d also like to add that head and shoulders is one of the worst shampoos you can use because of the wax that coats your hair. Maybe try cutting back on shampoos each week and use a moisturizing conditioner if your hair is excessively oily. You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.
Avatar m tn You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have read your post & I am also going through similar dandruff, my question to you is how do I determine, whether my dandruff is a sign of psoriasis or seborrhoeic dermatitis? FYI, my dandruff don't respond to any of the dandruff shampoos I have tried so far, I have started using tea tree oil since 2 weeks & I massage it once a week. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I think this resulted in me developing serious dandruff. its been a problem for a while now. I think there is some hairloss and scalp is very dry and itchy. Everytime I run my fingers through my hand i can see flakes falling down. I plan on shaving my head and start applying some cream. Can you recommend any medicine or any remedies. I would really appreciate some help. thank you, max.
Avatar f tn I am a beauty school drop out so I'm going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.
Avatar n tn External causes include excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair. Dandruff is associated with a tiny fungus called Pityrosporum ovale, or P. ovale for short. This fungus lives on our bodies and scalp all the time, usually without causing a problem. Unfortunately, for some people, it can get out of control -- leading to dandruff.
Avatar f tn anyone else have dandruff & greasy hair constantly since getting pregnant?

2078979 tn?1332206668 lol) and u cal try oil treatments like puting coconut, jojoba, almont, or even penut oils with vitamin E on ur scalp and let it soak for about 20 min then gently with light shampoo wash it out of the hair bit dont scrub it out of ur scalp if u can help it the condition from scalp to ends of hair pull it up on top of ur head to let it sit while u finnish ur shower then rinse well at the end. U could do that a couple times a week and see if it helps.
Avatar n tn Hi, In your case, I would say that if seborrheic dermatitis is present it may contribute to the hair loss but it is of course possible that the hair loss and dandruff are separate conditions. Male pattern baldness if baldness runs in the family may be considered here. But a presence of a scalp condition like seborrheic dermatitis or other fungal infections may cause some degree of hair loss.
