I have been taking Eptoin for the last 3 months. I have gained around 5kg of weight since then. I feel dizzy and I believe my energy levels have gone down.
I want to know, are these the side effects of Eptoin?
Should the consumption of Alcohol strictly be avoided or a few drinks occasionally in social gathering will not do any harm?

It however says that initiation of Folic acid and phenytoin together is beneficial.
Since you can't go back and start all over again, you can take a small dose. It has been observed that as los as 1mg dose can perturb phenytoin’s levels, You may take doses lower than 1mg/day.
Would any of these diseases contribute to sudden weight loss? I have been close/over 350 lbs for years, but in the last several months I have dropped a significant amount of weight. I'm down to 287. (20 lbs in the last four weeks alone.) I wish I could say it's because I'm exercising or eating right... but I'm not. I've made no change to physical activity or diet. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your question, you are relatively fine with Phenytoin and the seizure episodes in a form of lack of speech are the residue of a generalized type seizure. I don’t have a full description of your consciousness during the lack of speech episodes to decide whether this start is a partial epilepsy which can continue in a generalized or it is a generalized one from the first moment..
I had my 2nd FNA two weeks ago after my first one came back with hurthle cells and suspicious. They sent my 2nd biopsy for molecular testing and my results came back as suspicious again. So I'm meeting with an endo surgeon next week. If both biopsies were suspicious AND the molecular testing was suspicious I'm assuming it means if my nodule isn't cancer now that it will be in the future. Is this a correct assessment?
I was on Dilantin for about 30 years and I went to a new doctor because I moved. The first thing he said to me was "we have to get you off of Dilantin" he had taking xrays of my brain and he saw that half of my brain was shrinking. He slowly took me off of Dilantin and put me onto Keppra. Ever since I have been on Keppra things have be better. I still have small seizures but not many and they are under control...........Please get off of Dilantin and onto Keppra.
During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.
I totally forgot to tell you that he is on Phenytoin 100mg once daily. Can this be continued and taken for a long period of time?

Addition of other antiepileptic drugs like phenytoin,lamotrigene and sedatives will be helpful for controll of his night symptoms.
My neurologist wants me off Dilantin because of bone loss and possible cerebella(sp) can develop - I have been taking Dilantin since I was a teenager - I am now 66 - my level runs around 13 - I take 330mg a day - I also take calcium 1200 with d3, magnesium, and multi vit.
You should be considering medications (probably metformin) and also losing weight if you are overweight, increasing activity / exercise levels and eating a lower carb diet to help get this under control.
