Avatar f tn Mirtrazipine and veneflaxine can cause seizures but it's rare. Zopiclone on the other hand could result in seizures if you skip doses. Zopiclone is usually used for short-term relief even tho it's not a benzodiazepine, it is quite the same procedure.
Avatar n tn I have what my neurologist calls myoclonic jerks. I get them in my legs and back. I think they're from lesions in my spinal cord... (long story on that one - check my 'Spinal MRIs came back clean!' for details.) Anyway, since I have leg weakness, I've decided not to take any drugs for the jerks, because it'll interfere with the strength of the legs, and cause drowsiness and fatigue - which I don't need!
Avatar m tn Thank you very much for such a useful information. my son is having mix type symptoms. he is 9 yrs old. during siezers he does not loss consciousness. out of three EEG examinations reported slow wave formation in two reports and one is normal ,MRI is normal. The headache followed by aura remains for 5 to 15 minutes. it is happening 3 to 5 times daily.

(I am currently depressed for no real reason). I have been on valproate for 6 weeks/2 months and mirtazepiene for two weeks.
Avatar f tn During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.
Avatar f tn At last I became suicidal and was hospitalised. Instead of lithium I am now on sodium valproate, lamictal, venlor in stead of prozac. I'm slowly recovering. The side effects were worse than the bipolar itself!

Most patient think the treatment has not worked if their pale patches do not disappear straight away. Please remember that the patches will take a long time to disappear and the treatment does not equate with disappearance.

I am hoping that this is just a bacteria die-off, which is common with Lyme, and your symptoms get worse before they get better. Do you think I should increase my Toprol dose? But no one can argue with your pdoc as to why he chose this one. unless you are consulting a GP which is wrong the British medical guide always choose one of 3: tegretol or dapakote (sodium valproate) or lithium these are the 3 most classical that went for years. I myself am on antipsychotics only. Many people object to this because of hazard of tardive dyskenia and neuroleptic syndromes etc..

Avatar m tn No. It would not worsen it long term. Valproate is a mood stabilizer and the other medication is an anti-depressent. Are you asking because his symptoms have gotten worse? On occassion an anti-depresent can worsen the symptoms of bipolarbut for other people they can be helpful but if there is a problem it would stop if the medication were changed. Speak to the psychiatrist about it.
