She broke out with fever again on 15 July and the fever lasted for about 4 days with daily temperature peaking in the afternoon (max 101 F). The face and body were covered with rash similar to measles which resolved by 20 July. Could she have had measles at her age? Why did she have convulsions? Could anyone throw any light on the episode.

Avatar f tn During those times I had not yet been diagnosed and was able to go back to life like normal, however after the diagnosis and being on phenytoin and switching to oxcarbazepine i am feeling awful. Dizzy, nauseated, moody, extremely tired, severe headaches that come and go. All i get from my Neurologist is these are side effects that will eventually go away. Because i never know when these symptoms will come on too strong I have missed a lot of days at work during my probation period.

It has been observed that as los as 1mg dose can perturb phenytoin’s levels, You may take doses lower than 1mg/day.

Avatar m tn Hi everyone, I'm new to this community. My neurologist just informed me that Osteoporosis and shrinkage of the Cerebellum are very serious side effects for long term users of Dilantin. Does anyone know more about this? I've been taking 500mg of Dilantin for over 30 years since I was a teenager, and now I'm terribly worried. Not one of the neurologists had mentioned anything about this over the years, and now at 46, I've learned that I may have severe osteoporosis.

I don’t have a full description of your consciousness during the lack of speech episodes to decide whether this start is a partial epilepsy which can continue in a generalized or it is a generalized one from the first moment..

Avatar n tn It could be a sinus infection. Do you have the symptoms of runny nose along with the sore throat? Even if you don't have rhinorrhea (runny nose) still could be sinus. Check the lymph node, if the swelling is less than an inch, then you needn't to see the doctor. See the skin colour above the lymph node, if the skin is red or pink, it means that the lymph node is loosing the battle against the infectious agent, you better get yourself checked then.

Went to every skin Dr and they were stumped..well I just had thyroid surgery to remmove toxic nodule and half my thyroid...guess what? The rash is finally clearing up all by it self now! Yaaaaay! Tell you Dr about it and insist you get your thyroid treated..myself I recomend the surgery over the radiation. A litter more painful but much safer esp for those of us with thyroid rash!
Avatar n tn Drug interaction of Claravis or Accutane includes tetracyclines , vitamin A-type drugs, vitamin A, and drugs that cause bone loss such as anti-seizure drugs such as phenytoin and corticosteroids. If you experience severe headaches and other symptoms like mood changes, muscle /joint pain or painful swallowing or peeling skin, it is best that you inform your doctor for proper management. I have been on synthyroid for years and because of a comment I made to my doctor about feeling low on energy, we switch my regular medication routine to include cytomel. What a mistake - Within 3 days I noticed a rash, by day five it was causing sever grief in several areas of my body - the wrists, thighs and around my vagina. I have been miserable. Called doctor and 2 days ago took myself off cytomel.
Avatar f tn If you are pregnant your doctor may gradually decrease the dose and stop it and may prescribe an alternative anti seizure medicine which is safe during pregnancy. Sudden withdrawal of antiseizure medication may precipitate seizures in a pregnant woman which can be dangerous for the fetus. Medicines are prescribed during pregnancy only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Your doctor may prescribe you high dose folic acid 4 mg to prevent spinal cord deformities. I sincerely hope it helps.

In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!
Avatar n tn The only antibiotic that has ever been shown to interfere with birth control levels and effectiveness is a medicine called rifampin which is used to treat tuberculosis. Rifampin may also interfere with the birth control patch and vaginal ring so if you are taking it, be sure to use a back-up, non-hormonal (i.e. condom) form of birth control.
Avatar m tn I came back and started developing this rash and a pain that almsot seemed internal where the rash is, I went to my doctor who said it was fungal and prescirbed ketzancole and applied it for two weeks with no results. He then prescirbed cortisone for two weeks and again no results. I was tested for std's 10 days after I got back. I came back april 16 and was tested on april 25. All tests came back negative.

Avatar m tn I can still tell where the rash is as the skin is still red. Another symptom I have is that my skin appears to be more red than normal, mostly on my hands and knees. The surface of my skin is fine, it just seems that there is an increase in blood in these areas. When I press down on my skin for a few seconds and then lift up, my skin is white for a few seconds and then turns back to red. I noticed this symptom about a week after the encounter.
Avatar f tn She cannot tolerate any kind of creams that have been prescribed, even the .05%. Her rash is on her face and neck. Her hygiene is maintained with mainly water and glycerin, nothing harsh at all. She cannot be in the sun, wind, etc. Is there a particular reason that she should see a gynecologist??
