coughing

Avatar n tn Spunky is a 15 year male that has developed the same exact symptoms described here! A coughing that seems to be accentuated when he drinks and boy he drinks. Seems like he wants to hack something out of his trachea but nothing comes out. Sometimes some mucous fluid does come out but the vet hasn't been able to pinpoint the cause.
Avatar f tn I have coughed, it seems for most of my life. Two years ago I was diagnosed with Pilmonary Fibrosis (of unknown origin) I don't and never have smoked. The fibrosis is small but in both lungs. My life is just beginning to improve with the help of steroids and inhalers etc, But the cough persists. A lot of mucus, which is clear but cloggy and even stops me talking sometimes. It has been been identified as a fungusidal, so now I take something to get rid of the fungus.
Avatar f tn I've had a cough for going on five months now. It first appeared around the same time I was given an inhaler, as the doctor suspected I had allergic asthma. I have hayfever and am allergic to dust, animals, tree spores etc. When it started it was mainly immediately after I ate but now I get it more frequently and often randomly. It's non productive and I often find myself coughing so hard I taste blood. I often have uncontrollable coughing fits that leave me gasping for breath.
Avatar n tn ve been to the ENT and Thoracic clinics at my local hospital in London five time over the past year but my persistent coughing continues. The specialist's I have seen there appear now to have exhausted their repertoire as I am now been asked to try some of the prescriptions again!
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms are suggestive of recurrent rhinosinusitis. Such cases should be carefully evaluated and systematic intervention to prevent further recurrences. As your root cause is known and is important take it out.
Avatar m tn Am 26 years old and have a persistent coughing for the last three months. My ESR last month was 82 mm/hr and have occassional fever too ( arround 101-102 ' C) which has now been persistent for couple of days. I am feeling extreme weakness and have undergone weight loss of around 3 -5 Kgs. I am unable to understand as to what all test I should undergo and its suggestive of anything serious.

Avatar f tn Hi there, I just read your comments. You say you suffer from AF. What is this ? You say your GP doesn't think allergy testing is necessary. I think maybe it's time for allergy testing. Out of curiosity, how long have you had your GP ? Just wondering. You could ask your GP for a referral to an allergist. If you are allergic to a particular thing, this can cause coughing , for example house dust in your lungs, sometimes perfume can cause coughing. I have asthma.

Avatar f tn I have chronic momentary light flash in peripheral vision a few times a day which seems to be linked to eye or head movement. Also coughing or sneezing seems to bring it on. I have been dilated several times by my cataract surgeon and by retinal specialist who cant find anyt ihing wrong except to say that maybe the pvd is incomplete. any ideas?
Avatar f tn My friend is currenly in the hospital undergoing multiple diagnostic testing due to unexplained "cavitating lung lesions". Her symptoms include nonproductive, constant coughing. That is to say, only clear mucus is produced upon couighing. Additionally, she has experienced a significant decrease in appetite due to constant nausea. Biopsies have been performed and have come back negative. Test results are also negative for fungal and bacterial infections.
Avatar m tn A couple weeks I had sever flu/cold symptoms....fever, coughing, runny nose, etc and have had a persistent white tongue for the last week and a half or so along with a cough. What are my chances this could be related to HIV or another STD? Should I get tested? I am becoming increasingly worried.
Avatar m tn The first weekend in November I came down with flu-like symptoms: feeling hot/cold, exhausted, and various aches. Those symptoms passed after a couple of days but left me with a dry cough. It's now a month later, and I'm still coughing. I often feel like there is mucus stuck to my vocal cords, but coughing is unproductive. (I've tried an expectorant, but it makes no noticeable difference.) Should I see a doctor?
Avatar f tn My mother is 66 and has had a persistent dry chronic cough for almost 10 years. She has shortness of breath and is unable to take deep breaths without it causing a coughing fit. The doctors have given her bronchodilators and allergy medication and her condition does not get any better. They now insist that its acid reflux. However, the medication does not help. She sometimes has a low grade fever and her body is super achy from all the coughing.
Avatar f tn I suffered from GERD and took Losec (omeprazole) 10 mg daily for 10 years. My main symptoms were coughing, hoarseness, and a constant sinus drip. I also had digestive upsets and cycled from diarrhea to constipation, but did not connect these symptoms with the medication (I thought they were caused by stress). Although two endoscopes and a barium X-ray showed no serious problems, I was told that I was in danger of developing Barrett's Esophagus and possibly even cancer of the esophagus.
Avatar n tn ve just been told by my ENT doc that I have an elongated uvula that could be causing my persistent coughing. He suggested that that he'll correct it w/ a minor office procedure- I've never heard of this, can you talk about it ?
Avatar f tn I had double pneumonia last year. Three different specialist could not find the cause and finally a cardiologist diagnosed it after a heart CT. Had pneumonia again in April this year and again, all tests and x-ray negative, but classic pneumonia symptoms are there. It's now a month later and already finished a course of levofloxacin (allergic to penicillin) took last 1000mg on Saturday and it's 24h later and have yo use nebulizer again. Any ideas on which path to go doen next?
Avatar n tn Has suffered from a dry hacking cough for 2 years. Persistent and seems to have got worse in the cold weather. normal inoculations but not kennel cough. coughs several times and then seems to have to dig into his throat for a final clearing cough although nothing is produced. Has no heart problems. is running around on his walks like a 2 year old. Does not cough as much when out walking.
Avatar n tn It seems to come in waves of coughing spells and then no coughs. I have been coughing up phlegm that is mostly white/clear with small amounts of a yellowish color and small brown flecks. When I lay down I can hear myself breathing/wheezing and makes it impossible to sleep, not to mention coughing fits making my partner unable to sleep. I have been taking antihistamines before bed and it seems to help calm my cough.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected vaginal and anal sex with a women whose hiv status I don't know. 6 weeks after the exposure I started having severe and persistent cough, a sore throat and difficulty breathing. I get bouts of continuous coughing, I don't think I had any fever in the past 5 days since I started experiencing the symptoms, but I never checked my temperature so i'm not sure. Can these symptoms be related to ars syndrome? Can we have symptoms after 6 weeks of exposure (45 days).
Avatar n tn That sounds completely plausible to me, I recently also came down with a similiar bug and ended being diagnosed with a fungus infection, I too was coughing to the point of gagging. It was pretty gross and the stuff I was coughing up was bright yellow, but the secretions from my nose were clear. It was too weird. I would reccomend that she go to the doctor and get checked out. I would be afraid it would turn into pneumonia or something. Good luck.
