Common Questions and Answers about Percocet withdrawal symptoms drugs

percocet

Avatar f tn what is used to detox from percocet and how long does it take with drugs or cold turkey?
Avatar f tn I did try suboxone for 3 years and it worked great but back in October I had a serious injury to my right leg and was in the hospital for 7 days and they said they were going to override the suboxone with massive amounts of pain meds-and they did. Then they sent me home with a script for percocet-so you see I have been off the drugs and I know how great that was. Suboxone works great but it is hard to come off of.
Avatar m tn When you say Meth I'm a$$uming your talking about methadone mot methamphetamine? Right? Anyways, if this is correct it seems like your daughter did it backwards as the methadone seems to be the standard protocol from expecting mothers detoxing from opiates. She should have stayed on the methadone and let the Percocet go. Whatever she does should be done under the care and advisement of her OB but here is some helpful info below that you can present at a dr visit.
Avatar f tn You may not have experienced all the withdrawal symptoms they look for because of the additional drugs they gave you... maybe....
Avatar n tn In other words, taking the percocet can actually cause withdrawal like symptoms if you have used suboxone within the last 4 - 5 days. Because you are on a low dose of suboxone, I hope the side effects aren't too bad. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I have straightened that out but went from Monday through Friday with no medication. I felt withdrawal symptoms almost immediately and am wondering if I am still in withdrawal. I have headache, nausea, tingly, crawly feeling on my skin, slight chills, lightheaded, dizzy. Does the percocet need to get to a certain level in my blood again. Am I simply still shaken from all the drama?

1835769 tn?1318283340 Like methadone it has a very long half-life so while you will start to go through withdrawal symptoms from stopping the oxycontin and percocet within about 12 hours of stopping the drug, you will probably not start withdrawal symptoms from the BuTrans until about 24 to 36 hours after removing the patch. If you are planning to just stop taking these drugs, you can go to the Substance Abuse forum here on MedHelp and look up "the Thomas Recipe".
Avatar m tn Hi there and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry it took so long for someone to reply. It can be slow around here on weekends. Hang in there as I'm sure others will also weigh in. You have been on a fairly high dose of Percs for a long time. You managed to do a very quick taper. I would say that you are still going to experience a few days at least of withdrawal symptoms. The "worst" may not be over. Have you ever gone through this before?
Avatar f tn sounds like withdrawal symptoms from stopping them.
526311 tn?1229286330 anyway since I started taking the drugs the day after my last fix, I havnt felt a single withdrawal symptom, except diarea. So my question is are these drug just masking the symptoms and when they're out and I gonna withdrawal again for them?
Avatar f tn It is possible that you will have withdrawal symptoms when you quit taking Percocet. Even if it is for short period of time that you take it. Our bodies and minds have long memories. I had been clean for about a year from taking Roxicodone, when I broke my leg and had to have surgery. I had to take pain pills for a little while. I was not taking Roxicodone, but something much milder.
Avatar f tn Yes...you'll have withdrawal symptoms. But,more importantly, your liver is probably pretty pissed off right now. You've got a tolerance now. What's your plan?
Avatar n tn I was on up to 5 pills a day of Percocet 10/325 for 1 year. I decided I've had enough of everything that goes with taking drugs, so I quite on Mon. July 21 (that's 9 days so far). I must say, withdrawal was/is hell, but I've made it this far and I'm not giving up. I was feeling a bit better after the 5th day, but I'm still feeling quite a bit of fatigue. Like extream gravity on my body.
Avatar f tn i had a problem with prescription medications several years ago, clonazepam, immovane and codeine. i went to a treatment center for almost one month and never touched another pill that i thought i could become addicted to - almost 8 years later, this past December, I fell and broke my hand and was prescribed Percocet by the ER doctor for the pain. I knew I should have refused it, I had never had this medication before, but was well aware of the addiction level of it.
Avatar m tn If you have bathroom issues get some imodium. It is really helpful for that as well as other withdrawal symptoms. It's really important to stay hydrated. You were on a fairly low amount and not for too long so I would think the worst will be over after 3 days. It may be sooner or a bit longer but hang in there. If you go back to pills, it will only get worse and so will the withdrawals. We end up having to take more for any type of relief.
1466164 tn?1301201816 Check out the Thomas Recipe, which recommends herbs and vitamins that offset withdrawal symptoms. Also, drink plenty of water and bathe in epsom salts. Exercise, though excrutiating as it seems, really helps with aches and also helps to rest. Best of luck, continue posting, there is an excellent support system here.
