Percocet vs nucynta

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet vs nucynta

percocet

Avatar m tn I was put on Nucynta (not ER) in January. I did get tremendous relief from it (after years of a lot of different narcotics with little relief.) I have written about in some posts from January if you want to look at them. I had terrible side effects and I couldn't stay on it but the pain it did relieve (nerve pain and RSD pain in my arm) has not returned (though I still have it in my hand.
Avatar f tn My doctor retired and now I am seeing a new doc. He wants me off the meth ASAP and on Nucynta. I have got myself down to 60mg a day. Today is Wed and he wants me completely off the done by Saturday and on the Nucynta. Has anyone had any luck doing this? I can't miss work and plus, we are having out first child on Sunday. My wife is being induced. So, needless to say this has come at the worst time!! But, will the Nucynta keep me from withdrawing? Any help is appreciated!!
Avatar f tn Before we really got to discuss it my insurance company said I had to switch from nucynta 50mg to opana er 15mg. I was just wondering if I can kill two birds with one stone. Should I be able to reduce fentanyl dose from 25 mcg to 12 mcg since Opana Er 15 mg has entered the mix?
Avatar m tn As you already know yourself it is important for you to get off of the narcotics. I am afraid, though, that going on Nucynta is just doing more of the same. Nucynta is just as addictive as any other narcotic medication. You may have luck with Suboxone, but we see many people in our clinic who get addicted to that as well, and we have to detox them off of it. However it works for some if tapered carefully.
Avatar f tn Does anyone out there have any problems with side effects from Nucynta? I recently went off Lyrica and put on this drug, however; I am very Sick even though it does help pain!
Avatar f tn Thanks for the replies everyone!!! All the info was helpful!!! I called my dr and he had me come in and changed me from Opana to something new called Nucynta. It still doesn't help as much as the percocet did so i'll be calling him again Monday. Or, maybe I just need to give this one some more time.
Avatar f tn The more surgeries I have the more pain I am in from scar tissue. I have tried norco, dilaudid, nucynta and am currently on percocet. I have asked my doctor if there is a patch I can try so I am not popping pills all day. I hate swallowing all the pills and feel it has a negative impact on my teenagers that popping pills all day is ok. My doctor prescribed the Butrans patch. At first, my insurance did not cover it (medicare) and my insurance wanted me to try morphine or fentenyl patch instead.
1508881 tn?1313114901 Well I had my appointment with my PM doc today. She prescribed me Nucynta which apparently is a newish drug. I went the the pharmacy and they did not have it. The pharmacist called 5 other Walgreen's who also did not have it. So now she's going to order it and possible get it in on Thursday. She said she may not get it in at all. Ugh. From what I can tell this medicine is basically something like tramadol and morphine, but kills pain more like hydro or oxy.
Avatar f tn t gotten better, eventually I was referred to an Ortho who thankfully put me on a low dose of percocet so I could sleep. The pain was beyond anything I could imagine (little did I know how much worse it would get). I've been treated with Percocet for years...about 3 now with the 5/325 dosing. In there we've also tried a number of epidurals and other shots in various places (SI joints). I should probably know better everything that's been done to me but it's been SO MANY THINGS!
1855076 tn?1337115303 Today is day 11 on Nucynta. This so far is hands-down the BEST pain relief I have had in years. But I am still having really troublesome side effects. They said they would all resolve by two weeks but I'm wondering. Three more days and I'll know. I have been seriously anxious/agitated since starting this. I also feel slightly altered; just not myself. It's not a sedative feeling or groggy ... just different. And not in a good way.
5625740 tn?1371245834 Fathers day I start 5 days off at work...I also am gonna start a detox from percocet. I filled for the last time last week and will have a full bottle and almost a full bottle of nucynta that will be out of my reach as of sat night. I only filled cuz this will be onmy terms and not cuz I cannot get more. I did not schedule a future pain mgmnt appointment and I want my life back. I used to be an advid runner and ive become lazy and unmotivated.
Avatar f tn Hello to you all!! My previous pcp began treating my chronic back pain in 1999. After falling down the stairs in October 0f 2000, I broke both lower bones in my left leg and had to have surgery. That same year in July, I decided to go through rehab in order to find out what my true pain level might be.I found the pain to be tolerable - so I stayed off the ocycotin. I said all that in order to say this: about 10 days ago I injured my lower back once more.
Avatar f tn I do have some anxiety, but I had that before the Nucynta. Though the Nucynta really amplified it. I have some minimal situational depression but again, not related to the Nucynta. It took a long time before I felt back to myself with it. I would keep drinking lots of fluids and I hope you're definitely working with your doctor with this. All my records list Nucynta under allergies even though it's not a true allergy. I hope you're feeling better.
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain and Nucynta was working well for me. However, I'm a new RN and cannot take narcotics, so I have so switch medications. I am attempting to switch from Nucynta (50 mg 6x/day) to Celebrex (200mg 3x/day). My doctor didn't give me any advice for tapering off one to another. Any advice on how to do that? Can I take the Celebrex while still taking some Nucynta?
1855076 tn?1337115303 The proper spelling of this medication is Nucynta. I'm thinking I"ll give it a try, though the fact I can't find a lot of information on it from people who've tried it makes me a little anxious.
Avatar f tn The pain is bad I have headaches every day. Had so many nerve block, occipital nerve blocks. On two pain meds Nucynta ER, Nucynta, neurontin, Mobic, Robaxin. Do you think I will need surgery again?
Avatar m tn I recently discussed this with my Doc.....Nucynta does not contain any Ibuprofen or Tylenol.....It does not work as well as 600mg motrin. sometimes my pain is so bad I resort to the Motrin and take it with tagamet or prilosec. I have had Hep C for 32 years.....Needle stick in nursing school...bummmmmmmer before they even diagnosed me. ("Non A Non B") Any way....I did a year of tx and 50 grand later it came back... I did have insurance for part of it though..
Avatar m tn Fentanyl is a stonger form of an opioid. Opiate and opioid mean the same thing: Opiate is an adjective while opioid is a noun. Percocet is an opioid as is fentanyl. They are synthetic which means they are man made and not derived from a plant. Good job on getting off the Percocet!
Avatar f tn I am in terrible, constant, all over body pain and also have an all over burning sensation since an MVA over one year ago. I've tried Cymbalta, Sevella, Neurontin, Vicodin, Tramadol, Darvocet N 100, Nucynta, and Percocet. I've also tried anti depressants, Ativan, and Valium in conjunction with the pain meds. I've had steroid injections in my spine and also tried Lidocaine patches. Does anyone have experience with a pain med that works for this type of chronic pain?
Avatar m tn Since I have been titrating to the correct level for my ms contin, I have been pretty much living on my hydrocodone, and as a result, it is losing its effectiveness. I have been on Nucynta 100mg for breakthrough pain before, but it gives me a very racey feel and when it comes time to rotate off....well...talk about feeling like poop. I have rotated off some heavy duty meds and this one takes the cake and the whole bakery as far as physical detox goes, wow terrible.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Percocet 10/325 three times a day, and it's just not working as well as it has been (I've been taking it for about. 4 years now). I don't know what to do, go to longer acting products or maybe just see if she will up my dose to every 6 hours. I've been trying to make it work for the last 1-2 years because I hesitate to ask for more medication even though she is a pain Dr.
