Avatar f tn Acetaminophen-oxycodone has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Acetaminophen is routinely used for short-term pain relief and fever in all stages of pregnancy. Acetaminophen is believed to be safe in pregnancy when used intermittently for short durations. Use of narcotic analgesics in late pregnancy is associated with the risk of neonatal withdrawal. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Although some of us are holier than thou and can endure extreme amounts of pain and take on the term of martyr during pregnancy...however, some of us cannot. Not all of us that use "lose the desire". I get extremely annoyed when people say your supposed to suffer throughout an entire pregnancy. Please do not take this as a go ahead to abuse percocet during pregnancy. No one knows the risks of taking anything during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I just found out that I'm 6-8 weeks pregnant. I am, or should I say was, a recreational drug user. In the last two months I smoked pot regularly and took approx. 3 vicodin 10mg and 1 percocet 10mg to help with back pain from a car accident. I don't regularly use pain meds and am far from addicted, I am just so worried that those couple pills hurt my little one. :( help!
Avatar m tn If she can do that, for her baby and herself, the doctor can guide her in the right direction, and hopefully make her aware that these medications cross the placenta to the fetus at ANY times during pregnancy. There are options available to her to help her stop, but any and all of them are best done under the direction of her physician, especially when a woman is pregnant.
Avatar f tn Nonteratogenic Effects Opioids can cross the placental barrier and have the potential to cause neonatal respiratory depression. Opioid use during pregnancy may result in a physically drug-dependent fetus. After birth, the neonate may suffer severe withdrawal symptoms. Basically, call your doctor and ask about whether or not the risks outweigh the benefits here. Does your OB know you've nearly had a stroke? (Does that mean you had a blood clot, or...?
Avatar f tn i am currently 30 wks pregnant and have had a lot of pain during this pregnancy. this is my 3rd child. when i was pregnant with my 2nd i had to be on percocet the entire pregnancy. i discussed this with my dr. and asked for something for the pain and he gave me a prescription for vicodin. after he gave me the medication he told me that the hospital drug tests all newborns and that if the baby had narcotics in his system that children services will be called on me. how true is this?
1565432 tn?1295252598 After reading all the post about pregnancy and percocet,I am scared sh**less,I've read that u can't take them during ur first trimester but u can during ur second? Why is that? my ob knows I'm taking them but I'm still worried.
Avatar f tn wants you to have it on hand should you be in a lot of pain, but if you think your pain can be managed with an approved over the counter med. I would use that instead. During the day you can use heat pads or ice to treat pain naturally. Maybe take 1 percocet at night 1st and second night post injury to alliaviate pain to sleep.....I would try to get by without the percocet, or call your OBGYN for specifics on dose. The ER Dr.
Avatar f tn If you are taking Percocet for pain, take Tylenol instead, but no more than directed. Make sure that your OB/GYN is aware that you have been taking Percocet during pregnancy; baby may need extra attention after birth. But if you wean yourself early enough before delivery everything should be fine, just don't do it abruptly. If your pain is not controlled with Tylenol, please talk to your physician and your OB to see what your options are.
Avatar n tn Or they may have been taking more than prescribed and just not told anyone. You never know. My sister was prescribed percocet during her pregnancy for a wisdom tooth that was removed. She gave birth to a healthy boy who is nine years old now. Trust your doctor and relay your concerns to him. Other than that, don't worry about it.
Avatar f tn Now that you are pregnant you must know that you will be sharing everything with your baby. When you smoke during pregnancy harmful things from the smoke , like carbon monoxide absorb into your bloodstream. This causes less oxygen for the baby. Which is essential. This makes breathing a lot more difficult for your baby, his/her lungs, and heart have to work a lot harder. Smoking can bring on Miscarriage Or prematurely with a low birth weight.
Avatar f tn i know that its ok while breastfeeding so i would say ok during pregnancy. just take only when you need it...at least thats what i would do. good luck!
1535595 tn?1317990033 I can tell you though, that there are many women who require pain medication such as percocet during pregnancy. When taken under a Dr.'s care there is almost always a good outcome. It's when drugs are abused or inproperly used that the problem can begin. When the Dr. and delivering hospital knows, there are steps they can take to help the baby adjust when born. That way women like Brigadiva have healthy and undamaged children. Just make sure you are working with your Dr.
Avatar m tn How long would a newborn have needed to be exposed to percocet during a pregnancy to cause withdrawals after birth? I have a family member who swears up and down she only took the small amount that was prescribed to her for back pain in the last few weeks of her pregnancy. There has been a lot of suspicion about what was really going on with her throughout the pregnancy and she was known to take opiods before getting pregnant. Now the baby has been born and is experiencing withdrawals.
Avatar f tn t think that by people on here telling you to tell her that percocet is safe during pregnancy should in any warrant her drug use. That is horrible and the fact that she is 19 just baffles me that she has no clue what she is doing and is lucky to be pregnant. Tell your friend, that she needs to stop using while she is pregnant. That's it. Point blank.
