Common Questions and Answers about Percocet side effects oxycodone

percocet

600857 tn?1230057770 Hello Gmama: Unfortunatly, that is a side effect of the opiates. Like Beargizmo stated, you will periodically find yourself becoming "moody" with the Oxycodone (Percocet). Because it is a stronger drug and it is working good at the moment, there will be a time when your tolorance will elevate and the Oxycodone will not be as effective and your mood changes with it. When your tolorance has heightened and the Doc increases the pain meds again, your mood will lighten up.
Avatar f tn Percocet has oxycodone in it rather than the hydrocodone in Vicodin. Oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone. In my experience, the oxy worked better and I had less side effects (upset stomach and "dumb" feeling).
Avatar m tn oxycoton verses oxycodone effects and side effects and length of time to start reducing pain and how long the curveis.
176495 tn?1301280412 My wife takes 5mg percocet (as prescribed) for chronic pain daily...she has noticed a marked decrease in her vision since doing so and I'd like to know if any users have had similar reactions..she only has vision in one eye anyway and doesn't need to jeopordize that. Of course her doctor told her "no" and also haze her taking Ibuprofin...she was talking to the pharmacist earlier today who told her DON'T DO THAT...
Avatar m tn It is most likely the oxycodone in the percocet that is making you sleepy. Unfortunately it is just a side effect of the medication for some. I take hydrocodone and as the dose wears off I become sleepy. Sometimes if I am idle I can doze off for a few minutes. I find that caffeine helps. As soon as I take my next dose the sleepiness subsides. I am not positive but I think this is a fairly common side effect. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hydrocodone has the same side effects as does Oxycodone. If you are susceptible to become drowsy from Oxycodone, then it is safe to assume the hydrocodone may make you sleepy as well. On the other hand I have heard some people say that Hydrocodone gives them more energy and insomnia when they take it, so it really depends on how your body reacts to it. No two people are the same in that regard. I remember when I used to take Norco I never knew if I would get drowsy or hyper when I took it.
Avatar f tn Percocet is the brand name of the generic drug oxycodone and acetaminophen and Vicodin is a brand name of the generic drug Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Both oxycodone and Hydrocodone is a narcotic drug and are often used in combination with acetaminophen or APAP, a no steroidal anti inflammatory drug which helps in increasing their potency.
667913 tn?1242700488 t have to take it as often(usually every 12 hours). Oxycodone is faster release. Percocet is oxycodone but it also comes stronger. Does she have a history of drug dependence?
Avatar n tn hi if you Google this exactly it gives you all the common and rare side effects of percocet.
903710 tn?1248389812 Will these side effects go away or should I call my Doctor now, versus waiting till my next appointment which is about 3 weeks away?
Avatar n tn One of the common side effects of percocet is nausea & vomiting. It is possible your stomach is still feeling the effects of 2 days of vomiting; however, only your doctor would be able to diagnose why this is happening to you.
Avatar f tn Will Roxicodone be as effective as Percocet and what side effects should I be aware of? Thank you very much for your input.
374225 tn?1269899262 Hi Stricklyforpain, I am sorry that you have found yourself in the spot so many CP suffers do. My pain medications does not so the job it use to either. I would bet that is the case for most of our members that have been on their pain meds for any length of time. Did I understand that you are on Methadone with Oxycodone for break though pain? Or did you mean that you no longer take Methadone. If that is the case I would encourage you to return to the meth.
Avatar f tn Concentrate on how well the medicine is working for you, the side effects, etc. You will be a much happier, and hopefully more pain free patient. I think the breakdown from weakest to strongest goe ssomething like this: vicodin percocet (5 mg. & 10 mg.) Morphine (instant release) oxycodone dilaudid MScontin oxycontin exalgo methadone fentanyl This is only my opinion, in no way is this actually medically accurate, but it's possible!
Avatar f tn t think the the Erythromycin would have caused this type of reaction with Percocet. It sounds like side effects from the Percocet. It's possible that since you broke them in pieces it got absorbed faster in your body.
Avatar n tn Percocet IS oxycodone. Oxycodone is the opiate ingredient in percocet. The -cet part denotes that there is acetominophen (tylenol) in the pill as well, so percocet is actually oxycodone with tylenol.
Avatar n tn Is Oxycodone without Acetaminophen stronger than just Oxycodone Hydrochloride? My mother has been on Percocet for years, and for some reason her doctor has now switched her to just Oxycodone. She seems to think that 5mg of her new perscription is stronger than 10 of her old one(Oxy and acetaminophen...perc)! Is this true?
Avatar n tn There is probably some cross tolerance and your doctor applied a 20% cross tolerance factor when converting you from oxycodone to Opana ER. This is to protect you from severe side effects and a potential overdose of the Opana. After switching from one opioid medication to another, most patients require at least one dose titration.
Avatar f tn Thanx for that great information Jeff. I found that interesting; that the cost of this drug can be so expensive when purchased illegally. To include the patient that was taking upwards of 700mg a day? When you honestly put all this into perspective, all oxycodone/contin is...is synthetic heroin. My personal hands on experience with this pain killer has been a "love hate relationship".
Avatar m tn Dilaudid is a much stronger narcotic than oxycodone ( oxycodone is the narcotic ingredient in percocet). Percocet is tylenol and oxycodone combined. I think you will have much better pain control with the dilaudid for sure.
