I too have suffered from unbearable pain due to accidents/injuries and there's no shortage of doctors out there handing out prescriptions for the pain. The worse part is, there are very few doctors out there that actually follow up with pain management to ensure that their patients aren't falling victim to addiction.

Hmmm, I heard a report that the drug shortage was on meds not making pharmaceutical companies enough profit, not that the drugs weren't working. Why are the people on the bottom being asked to sacrifice while the top is making record profits? I was doing alot of research last night on the shortage and I have seen that alot of people are going to the compound pharmacy to get their 30 mg. They are compounding it with ginger in the Tampa area I know and some other areas too. It seems they are expensive though at 5 bucks a pill:( I called mallinckrodt last night also and they say that the shortage will soon end.

I just went to see my endo today for a 6 month check up and was told that there is a shortage on Thyrogen in the US and that I'd have to off meds for 6 weeks this time instead of getting the thyrogen injections like I have since my second scan. I simply cannot fathom going off meds again for 6 weeks. It was a horrible experience for me the first time and I simply do not have three more years to get myself back on track again after it's over.

I would have to say anyone that could not see a food shortage coming as a result of all this and the rising prices as a result would have to have their head in a hole somewhere. I have called everywhere from here to Tampa just about! I do not understand this. There will be a shortage again if this keeps going on:( I had such a hard time finding them when the the shortage happened awhile ago. My pharmacist is calling to the companies that are still in production to try and order from them. I believe any other brand would be better than the ones I have. So frustrating!

I guess they changed their formulation or something along thos lines and thats why there is a shortage. A lot of us have switched to other natural brands such as Westhroid and Naturethroid.

I have stage 4 epithelial ovarian resistant cancer. I had 20 cycles of taxo/carbo and my Ca125 was down to 20 from 4,000 before debulking and any chemo. After the debulking and 1 chemo, my CA125 went to 3,000. The scans at 20 didn't show anything. Then 3 weeks later the Ca125 went to 24. 2weeks later it went to 25 and then 2 weeks later 26. We knew it reared its head. After these scans it spread to inside my liver. I never had it inside an organ. Either it was on top or underneath.

YES! There is a nation wide shortage of oxys. My doctor was substituting with percocets, Till I was finaly switch to the patch. Percocets is oxys with apap. The shortage is suppose to be over maybe this month. A news article here said someting about the DEA only allows so much to be manufactured. As you probely know, the 5mg Oxycodone tabs are no longer available because of a nation wide shortage and because of Ethex going out of business. The Pharmacy tried to give me the 5mg Oxycodone capsules and to our suprise, it isn't covered by Medicare because of the increase in price. You are not alone in this prescription battle. Unfortunately, you will have to get you Doc to sign a form stating that you really need this particular med. Only then will they cover the drug.
