Percocet not working

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet not working

percocet

Avatar n tn When I went to the dental clinic a few weeks back because of pain, i asked what would work because over the past 4 years, ive been in constant chronic pain. The DMD told me that typically, after a while, your mouth builds a tolerance to the pain as any other part of the body would. She suggested taking a dose of ibuprofen and then when it was time to take another ibuprofen, take an acetaminophen pain killer instead and continue to alternate.
Avatar f tn I took my self off the percocets for about a week a couple months back, just to see what the withdraws were like....not fun, but not so bad either. everything hurts for a couple days, and there was a lot of night sweats, but that was about it. Do you know if the withdraws from Oxycontin are about the same?
Avatar n tn Just be honest with you physician and tell him that the Percocet is not working for you. Our systems are different, what works for one may not work for another. You may even do better on Vicodin. It works better for me than Percocet. I do not know the extent of your surgery but usually physicians are reluctant to order anything stronger than Percocet post-op. I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you are soon up and about. Keep us posted and let us know how you are healing.
Avatar f tn Most Dr.s want their patients to at least give a new medicine a month to see how it works. *Unless there is any sort of dangerous allergic reaction which you obviously would stop immediately. (See information that comes from the Pharmacy with your medicine) There are regular side effects to almost every medication...some nausea...fatigue...dry mouth...constipation....Most of these will go away or lessen with time. The main thing is to NOT double or change the Dr.
Avatar f tn I'm tapering here too so I didn't think I would feel this bad. What the heck!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow is back to work so I hope that'll go well. Can't take off because I was of on Friday. Job is high stress and I need my total brain to do it. Hope that'll happen tomorrow.
Avatar m tn Other than the different medical problem I feel like I am reading what I just wrote, I too am in Chronic Pain and have been taking Vicodin 750 for five years and told my PMP that they no longer are working so I have been taking Percocet 512 for eight days and unless I take 4-5 a day they don't help and of course I will be out way before the end of the month and I too don't know what to do...
Avatar f tn No not yet i have an app in a couple of days
Avatar m tn feel a bit stressed and a bit yired but working and drinking lots of water. also instead of the percocet one of the times a day I just take tylenol. so the acetaminophen my body craves is still getting without the oxycodone. thanks for the support.
Avatar f tn For the record, I do not get any euphoria symptoms as the meds are too busy fighting the pain, and I do not abuse my medication. After approximately 6 years on the Percocet, it is time to go up a notch. Thanks so much for your feedback.
Avatar m tn Percocet does NOT contain an anti-inflammatory so it does not eat away at your stomach. Percocet contains acetaminophen aka tylenol, which can damage your liver if you continually take more than 4000mg a day. I cannot believe some of the laughably innacurate information on this site. Inaccurate information in regard to controlled substances can put the readers life in serious jeopardy. Now in answer to the question- "Why not oxy's?
1080427 tn?1256072953 I want to quit cold turkey i want NOTHING more to do with percocet. Today is my first day not takin anything. On any given day i was taking 3 or 4 of them... Today i have the chills, I feel like I have a fever, jittery, and lots of anxiety.... How long does this usually last and is there ANYTHING at all to help even feel a little better???
Avatar m tn Its like you dont want night time to come because you know whats coming agony and no sleep its brutal beyond anthing I have ever dealt with.
1508881 tn?1313114901 I've switched between norco vicodein, codein, tramadol and percocet when the meds aren't working. All are short acting but after a while on one med it wouldn't work as well so I'd switch. But you could always go to something like Opana ER which lasts much longer. Can't hurt to try something new. If it doesn't work you can always switch back. Right?
11214965 tn?1416269155 Thanks so much for the Info I heard do many horror stories about the patch they say it makes you feel out of it is this true?
1535595 tn?1317990033 I didn't see that post so I can't be much help. However, talk with you OB GYN about the percocet and your pharmacist.
477659 tn?1207939070 Hi everyone this is my first post here, kinda nervous. Thing is I found this community while looking up information about my fentynal patch. I just got the script and don't think its working. I had lumbar spinal fussion a week ago and the surgeon put me on 25mcg at discharge from the hospital. This was only done because of the reaction from me when he said he was sending me home on percocet. See I have suffered from pain for so long that I have taken alot of narcs.
Avatar m tn I am also taking Neurontin and doxipen to help with the pain, but I will not start taking and stronger drugs then percocet. I do pretty well with it, but would feel much safer if I didn't have to use narcotic pain meds.
847512 tn?1272567062 Yeah, I am not happy about the side effects, I was gaining weight. I was contipated, of course I usually have the other problem - which has already come back like nothing happened.
Avatar n tn Anyways in Jan I herniated my c5 and c6 I work in the finacial industy and was not able to have any time off work while I went through traction and spinal epiderals.....So my buddy gave me 120 10mgs percs.........I have used them for the pain for about the past four months I followed the instructions i never took over 4 pills a day....Well my neck is feeling much better but I stopped taking the pills Sunday and I have no been able to sleep at all.....
Avatar f tn I am still pretty new here. I tried to tapper off of percocet that I have been using daily for about 8 months now, the dosage kept going up and got to about 6 - 10 mg pills a day and thats when I new I needed to do something.
Avatar f tn o mannn i tried not taking the percocet and i'm not a very happy camper right now!
Avatar m tn I can relate to all of you on the symptoms your having from not taking percocet I have been taking percocet for about two years now. I work alot and finding time to curb this addiction is becoming very difficult. I have tried many times to kick this thing every time i have failed. The worst part for me is the restless sleep and that sick feeling. I would also prefer to stop cold turkey but I think I might need some help.
Avatar f tn Yes. The clonidine is a med for hypertension and is used quite often for opiate withdrawal with excellent results. It's not to be taken with Percocet per se'. Percocet is,of course, a prn med so it is just not often that those two would be used together. I know you'd like the doctor to help you. Have you been completely honest about the amount of Percocet you take per day? Have you told him/her you're addicted?
890735 tn?1261421725 I also am not totally sure about the exact equivalence of the percocet to the fentanyl, but like sandee said, it's a typical practice for doctors to start a patient off with the 25 mcg fentanyl patch to see a) how the patient can tolerate the medication b) if that level of pain control is adequate c) hopefully avoid some side effects of going to such a strong narcotic.
