Avatar f tn For the record, I do not get any euphoria symptoms as the meds are too busy fighting the pain, and I do not abuse my medication. After approximately 6 years on the Percocet, it is time to go up a notch. Thanks so much for your feedback.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor before taking ANY medication.
699217 tn?1323438700 Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.
Avatar n tn hello: 5 months ago my mother 52 years old had a breast mastectomy ,gladly she needed no chemeoterapy nor radioterapy.. she has a lupus systemic followed by a shurgen she takes for it salargen.. about the cancer she's only taken percocet and eltarol as pain releases. The mastectomy is followed by a reconsrtuction with a salt water ballon which is filled each month, the treatment is going very well ,however she had an hormonal change i'm not quite sure why.
Avatar n tn Percocet is safer during pregnancy. You may want to consider switching to percocet. Also, drink lots and lots of water. This will help you pass the stone sooner and prevent future stones.
Avatar f tn With the right dose of long acting opioid pain medication, you could possibly only need 2 pills per day of the long acting opioid medication and no norco or percocet for breakthrough pain. I take 10 mg of percocet in the morning 3 hours before taking the Opana ER for breakthrough pain. Occassionally, I need 5 mg of percocet in the evening around 5 pm but most days I make it through the entire day pain free without needing percocet.
Avatar m tn I was given percocet 10/325 for pain for surgery and was told to take 1 - 1 1/2 pills every 4-5 hours. I'm opiate tolerant but 15mg every 4-5 hours seems like a lot. Also I have percocet 7.5/325 that says I can take 2 every 3-4 hours. Is this posing any possible over dose problems or health problem? This will only be taken for a short amount of time.No more than 2 weeks. Any advise on the saftey of this would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I am well aware that the maximum daily dose for acetaminophen is 4000 mg. I am currently on a regimented pain medication plan but fear that coming close to 4000 mg daily is bad for me. I never go past that dosage and I don't drink alcohol, but is it dangerous or bad for your liver to always be near the max daily dose? I try to give my liver some breaks by cutting my dose way down for a few days here and there, but I still get scared.
543518 tn?1245322027 Most pain medications are a mix of tylenol and oxycdon, or IBProfin and some kind of pain narcotic. I have been on percocet for a few years, but when they found out I have hep C and started tx and needed more than the 2 a day I used to take the switched me to plain oxycodon, which is the pain reliever in percoset, without the tylenol. My dy said this would not be harmfull to my liver and since I was already taking this sucesfuly to treat my pain it works about the same.
Avatar n tn Since your friend has been taking percocet for years, he/she is addicted to the medication. When the medication starts to wear off, he/she is experiencing a withdrawal which can cause heart palpatations and irregular heart beats due to anxiety. Here's a list of side effects and severity: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-7277-Percocet+Oral.aspx?drugid=7277&drugname=Percocet+Oral&pagenumber=6 Also, Percocet has a severe potential hazard to your liver.
Avatar f tn ---- Try not to worry about which medication is stronger than the other. Concentrate on how well the medicine is working for you, the side effects, etc. You will be a much happier, and hopefully more pain free patient. I think the breakdown from weakest to strongest goe ssomething like this: vicodin percocet (5 mg. & 10 mg.
Avatar n tn Percocet is a strong, habit forming, opiate medication. It is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. It should never be used in any other way, for any other reason, unless there was some unusual circumstance that your doctor dictated the usage of Percocet for some other purpose. The BEST thing to do, always, if you're having an issue, or problems with your medications, is to discuss the options with your doctor.
Avatar n tn Percocet, Morphine, Oxycontin, Fentanyl and others. They can only be prescribed by a written script (no phone ins, no faxes) and they MUST be PRINTED. There is NO refills given on a Schedule II drug. It requires a visit to the Dr. monthly. Schedule III Opiates are: Vicodin, Vicoprofen, Tussionex, etc... and thay may be called in or faxed in to a Pharmacy and can have up to 6 refills.
525745 tn?1212452109 t take percocet but for others I can when I had surgery on my nose (rebroken and set plus the deviated septum) It didn't cause any issues but when used for my back it caused hallucinations. Might be too much meds for the problem your having.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear of the uncontrolled pain that you have experiencing. I have been there but now I have control over my pain. I am not pain free and still have flare ups but my life is no longer in bondage to pain. My pain regimen includes the Fentanyl patch which I wear for 48 hours along with oxycodone IR for breakthrough pain. I also take Gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, valium, an anti-depressant, and OTC Aleve.
Avatar m tn My question relates to liver damage related to the use/abuse of pain medication. By pain medication I mean OTC(Tylenol/Advil) and of course, Vicodin and Percocet. The short version is: For the last 10 months I have struggled with lower back pain. I am 24 years old, 6'5'', 220lbs and generally healthy/athletic build. I started taking a lot of Tylenol(4g a day, but never more), sometimes mixed with Advil to curb my back pain. I then moved on to the doctor and go prescribed Vicodin.
Avatar f tn I have been taking percocet every four hours for six months following a car accident. I am leaving rehab and want to get off the percocet safely. How do I do this at home? I may still need to take pain medication.
Avatar f tn I have previously been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a fractured spine, curvature reversal, buldging disks, pinched nerves, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, migraines, and high uric acid. They originally prescribed me percocet 7.5mg limit 6 a day, nuerontin 600mg tid, and esgic plus 50-500-40mg however my insurance stopped covering the percocet 7.5mg and so they had to prescribe me the 5/325!
Avatar m tn ) The Oxycontin is give as a LT - Long Term medication that is supposed to last for up to 12 hours while the Percocet is given for BT - Break Through - Meds to handle the BT pain that can happen when you experience pain while on a LT Medication. I hope that your question has been adequately answered and if you have any other questions feel free to ask and we will try to answer them for you. :) Best Wishes.......
Avatar f tn d really appreciate it. I have just recently started oxyctotin and then percocet. My doctor wrote me a prescription for 8 oxycodene 5mg and it took me a whole month to use them. So I barely take them and if anything I would only take one in a day. So I have them for upper back pain that has been chronic and when i'm sitting it gets so bad so i would take it if I really couldnt make it through the day at my job due to the pain.
Avatar f tn I have been on different pain meds depending on which doctor I was seeing. These include, tylenol 3, percocet, hyrocodone and talwin. It is two weeks since surgery and I decided to stop taking pain meds as the pain from surgery is getting better. I stopped cold turkey and yesterday had horrible panic attacks. Are painic attacks associated with withdrawal from pain meds. Should I go back to taking them and slowly taper them down?
