Hello, I have thyroid cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck. A week ago I had surgery to remove the lymph nodes (surgery went well and I was sent home). Now I am on percocet for the pain. I have been able to reduce my doses and think I will be completely off in a couple of days. My doctor said after the surgery, I could start trying to conceive.

I am currently taking percocet as a break through med with morphine sustained release. I didn't have a choice on what I could take for breakthrough medicine. I don't take more than 1950 mg of tylenol per day via the percocet. I think the percocet and the vicodin puts a "cap" on how much a person can take before destroying their liver. My doctor has been very trustworthy of me but always wants me to stay on these combo meds.

yes, percocet is a class 2 narcotic and vicodin is a class 3. Percocet is an oxycodone with tylenol, and vicodin is a hydrocodone with tylenol. If ever you need a refill you can't have a doctor call in a class 2. Both are addictive equally...

Ill keep it short - not only are they addicting, they are probably more addicting than vicodin and stronger. Percocet is one step ABOVE Vicodin on the painkiller strength scale. Ever hear people talk about oxy? Percocet is Oxycodone. If you had a problem with vicodin, percocet will just be a bigger problem. Id stay away. Good luck and congrats on all that clean time.. Finally, a rule of thumb is to NEVER take OTC products that contain Tylenol while taking Vicodin or Percocet as you are ADDING in more tylenol that needs to totaled and added to the amount consumed through the Vicodin or Percocet. It is important to read the labels on OTC cold and cough medicines to understand how much Acetaminophen (or Tylenol) is in the product.

You may take some Valerian for restlesness or talk to your doctor about some Ambien to help you sleep for a few nights. Try taking a half a pill of Vicodin for a few first nights just to make it easier for yourself. Then you can take some Tylenol instead together with the ibuprofen. They work well together for pain. Never take Tylenol while taking Vicodin though, because you may ovedose on acetominophen and damage your liver further.

t have had any kind of withdrawal going to Percocet from Vicodin. Whatever occured was unrelated. Percocet is stronger than Vicodin. Try not to over think this. It will be what it is...it won't be the worst thing you'll go through. Just not pleasant. It's truly like having the flu...

I had my lap done on tuesday (march 22nd). I've been taking percocet every 4 hours and the 600 mg ibuprofen every 6 hours. I'm still having pain but I am feeling better as time goes on. There is no medication that is going to take all the pain away the most you can hope for is to get enough relief to function. This is a common mistake from Pt's they expect to get full pain relief from medications and this rarely happens. No one that suffers from chronic pain gets full relief but enough to dull the pain to an acceptable level. Ho long have you been taking the vicoden and how much are you taking?

he was down to taking 6 5mg vicodin, a day, which I am familiar with, then I suggested to him to ask his doctor to put him on codeine #3 he was having a diffiucult time with it, but has been on it for about six weeks now, says taking 8-10 per day. do you think he can c/t off the codeine now with minimal withdrawal or should he taper more. Hi, I am running out of my percocet script early, is it ok to take tramadol in between to try and extend the few percocets I have? I cannot do withdrawel right now. Ok, today I am picking up my RX for the Fenytal patch, my idea is not be on both the patch and still have to take Vicodin. My question is if I just stop the Vicodin, if the patch works out great for pain management. Will I have withdrawals from the Vicodin?...
