Avatar f tn t personally dealt with it but a close friend had to give herself blood thinner shots in her belly throughout her whole pregnancy. Avatar n tn This had to wait a week because of my week condition from other injuries. The last surgeon would not put me on blood thinner because he was concerned about internal bleeding. He did install an IVS filter because a blood clot had already started in one leg. Fast forward 6 weeks and still no blood thinner even tho I was non-weight bearing, immobile and inactive. I used a slide board to transfer from bed to wheelchair to commode. One morning both of my legs were swelled a lot. I called Dr.
1029058 tn?1253539152 I have no idea what you mean by "thick" blood, well, yes, blood anticoagulants are often referred to as "blood thinners" I believe they do not in any way thin the blood, they change the ability of the blood to coagulate, the blood is otherwise unchanged. One may have deep veins or thicker skin, and that may make it harder to "draw" blood for a test... but I think the problem is not "thick blood".
Avatar f tn I had a successful ablation on july 19, 2010 and only took blood thinner for the first 90 days following the ablation while my heart was healing.. I do take an 81 mg asprin daily. Im 69 so figure theyd want me to take it even with out an ablation. Hope this helps some. Never had a pace maker. I had the darn afib for 13 years and was shocked back into regular rhythm numerous times... It sure is nice to be back to normal now.. Im so glad I had the ablation... no pvcs no afib now ...
Avatar f tn re on a blood thinner like warfarin for some reason, they may aim for 2.0 - 3.0. In some cases where clotting is a real problem they may push it up to 2.5 to 3.5. Does that help? Do you have a heart or clotting disorder? Work with your doctor on that. They can control it but you'd have to be monitored regularly.
Avatar f tn however in certain situations if you have significant pain, the doctor will give you vicodin, or percocet, but not for any extended periods of time. Only for a little bit. Asprin is a blood thinner, therefore very risky especially in the first trimester, becuase that's when the risk of miscarriage is the highest.

Avatar m tn One has to consider what the relative risks are, continued bleeding verses clot or whatever reason for the blood thinner. You doctor is the only source of the answer.
Avatar n tn After leaving the hospital hematoma started to be visible on her hips and upper leg around 30 square centimeters on the left and 10 square centimeters on the right , her hemoglobin level dropped to 7 , CRP was 22 according to the doctor that was due to her body being sensitive to the blood thinner used during the surgery , how true is that ?

Avatar m tn Im not really sure how to approach my GP with this as ive been in since i had a ct scan saying i was getting pains when exercising - turned out my heart rate was 5-10 beats over my max, so have bought a heart rate monitor and this is no longer an issue. But i think that if i go in saying that i take a blood thinner due to worrying about a clot they wont take me seriously and say that ill be fine and that because ive had a CT im all clear..
Avatar f tn We were told that without the blood thinner she would develop blood clots around the valve and it would either stop working all together causing a heart attack or it would throw clots causing strokes and this could cause death, paralysis or a coma like state for years. They also told us this would be a very painful way for her to die. We were told with the lasix she would go back into kidney failure.
1417531 tn?1365597725 I was recently told I have a vitamin K deficiency and suggested that once a FET is successful with the first beta results, I would need to be on a blood thinner more agressive than the baby aspirin regimn prescribed last time which was successful until week 6 when I miscarried... I'm nervous about taking a blood thinner- seems more risky than need... any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
