percocet and kidney damage

I am 14 weeks Pregnant and have a kidney stone. I am taking dilauldid and am very concerned about my unborn child. I am told there is nothing I can do for the stone excpet take the medication.

For short periods these are great but long term use not only causes liver damage but NSAIDs used long term(over 2 wks) can cause kidney damage. If you have pain and take narcotics as perscribed or less, the likelyhood of becoming dependent are between zero and nothing.A Dr. once told me that we are only trying to lessen my pain not eliminate-make it bearable.

I have been dealing with kidney stones since i was 14 weeks and am now 33 weeks but and have been in and out of the hospital..my doctor hasnt mentioned going early but i kinda wish i would so i dont have to be in pain anymore.

I hope you can convince him that you love him very much and hope he will get off these meds they will impact his kidneys and liver more and more as he gets older. You didnt say what he took them for? BUT he has to be a willing particiapant. While 71 is old enough to make up your on mind it is far from being too old. As the aging process takes a hold of you it gets easier to live with pain, by taking medication, BUT it also makes you not have any tolerance for pain when you take that much.

I am 6 weeks pregnant and have kidney problems. The ER Doctor gave me Percocet and Promethazine and I can't remember if I can take them together.

m so young my doctor was worried about the significant damage to my kidneys he seen when doing the emergency surgeries and the fact that he cleaned out my kidney and within a week I would have 3-5 stones developing again,so he decided to send me to Duke University Hospital in NC and I live in KY.

Do not take tylenol and he percocet. Percocet is safe I took it with a bunch of my pregnancys. I had kidney stones bad and had to be hospitalized a lot and put on iv pain med but when it was manageable I was on. 1-2 Percocet 5's every 4-6 hrs through out my pregnancys. I only get bad stones while pregnant but my babies were all healthy, well the ones I took the medicine with. If you are in pain take your medicine bonus it help with pregnancy pains...

MY FRIEND IS TAKING PERCOCET 5 NOW BUT HAS BEEN TAKING A HIGHER DOSE AND NOW THESE FOR THE LAST 2 TO 3 YEAR AND NOW IS HAVING HEART PALPATATIONS AND IREGULAR HEART BEATING...COULD THIS DRUG BE CAUSING THIS?

I was prescribed percocet once for a kidney infection...I was young and I just thought I had a severe flu w/bad back pain. (sorry for the tmi but no burning when i urinated) So anyhow I ignored it for a week b/c like I said I was young and didn't have insurance finally I was so dehydrated and my back was hurting so bad I was taken to the ER. So they did prescribe the pain rx due to the severity of the pain I was in and how far I let it go.

thanks so very much. No, not a drug seeker. They are not at all concerned about the liver?!?! Said it is common, and won't damage anything. I am trying to stop taking the Percocet-but it is hard. Only been taking it 19 weeks, about 2 tabs every 4 hours. Still hard though. I did find out that the pain is coming from a Spegelian hernia on my abdominal rectus muscle wall. Big shock to me! t even know if the old one was normal or not, no md ever said I had a kidney issue, I just finished 12 weeks of treatment and am undetected but now I am freaked out by these kidney numera I wrote my md but have not heard back yet Doesn't anyone know or understnad this, I am having trouble understanding what I read from google searches Thanks CH

I'm so exhasted today, I only slept a few hours again last night as Sunday too, nothing helped my RLS, i don't have the sweats this time around, and my energy is not as low as last time I went through this... but I'm not sleeping and I have the tremors and RLS..... I'm still feeling pain in my kidney area.... trying hot baths, ice packs, heating pads, nothing is helping. It would be so easy to make this all go away.......... but I won't go there, I won't make that call...

I thought for sure I had another kidney stone but they finally dx me with a kidney infection that had spread from my bladder. And to top things off, it took the nurses 7 tries to get an IV in me at 5am! I had had really bad chills and had vomited, so I was dehydrated plus I have poor venous access, so it was a tough time getting an IV in me. I don't recall any indications that I had a bladder infection until Tuesday and I went to the doctor's on Wednesday morning.

Using it over a span of time regularly acetaminophen can cause damage to your liver and kidney even at recommended doses. So many people use it daily but it's really a OTC that's supposed to be used for short spans of time or ever so often when it's really needed. When HIV has low body weight (less than 60kg or about 130 lbs) they found higher kidney damage and found lowering Viread dose helps in this population. Is this transferable to HBV? I am low body weight at 115 lbs (eat healthy and exercise). I am worried about kidney damage as my age increases (now 41), with low body weight, and knowing this medication is long term/for life. How common is kidney damage on HBV only? I do not want to have to worry about my kidneys now too on top of HBV.

m glad Tuck mentioned that Acetaminophen can damage the Kidneys and I want to add that it can also damage the Liver so be careful...you only have one liver and the body needs it.

Just wondering if there is a relationship between Percocet and symptoms of kidney pain. PS he was kept for 3 days in the hospital and still has pain.

ve had kidney stones, and surgery to put stints in. And this pain from cellulitis is even more painful than kidney stones. Apparently I'm supposed to lay in bed a lot, and keep my foot elevated. But I can't just lay in bed for several weeks. And it seems odd, but it is more painful to be laying down than to sit in a chair. Also, laying down makes it so sitting back up, and standing, are so painful that I have to spend half an hour gradually going from laying down to standing.

Last night I began to experience severe muscle spasms in my mid back, on the right side, obviously this made it hard to breathe, but I was able to bring the spasms under control at the time with heat, and was able to take a percocet, and fall asleep. Today when I woke the discomfort was still there, but more easily managed, I spasms stop if I lie on my back on right side, with my back being the more effective means to control things.

I am 38 weeks pregnant and my Ob prescribed me percocet for kidney stones. I passed the stone today so I wont be needing the pain killers anymore. But i don't want my baby to have this in his system when he's born. Should it be all cleaned out by the time he arrives?

For 13 years I have used a durogesic patch and percocet together with lower to stronger strengths at the present. For 8 years I have used a durogesic 75mcg patch changing it every 48 hrs.- due to BREAK THROUGH PAIN. Along with the patch I use Percocet 7.5/325 mg 4 tablets a day. Plus, through the years I have changed other medications but at the present I also use: Neurontin 300mg 3 capsules 4 times a day Flexeril 10 mg as needed (up to 3 per day) Valium 5mg q 6 hrs.

But I have been on Percocet during my other two pregnancies also, for kidney blockage, and both of my children are very healthy and had no complications (Now 9 and 4 years old :o) I do not take it every day, only sparingly if I absolutely need to (and am thrilled that I haven't needed any of it for two weeks).
