pegasys vs pegintron

I am only 110 lbs, so she said because it is weight based too, that is better for me. Any thoughts on Pegasys vs. Peg Intron? My stats again - female, mid 20s, type 3a, VL 950,000. I have been infected since birth (my mom was HCV). Thanks!

I had that problem is the only reason I am asking. The doc wanted me on Pegintron but his staff requested Pegasys. I am sure others will be along to help you very soon.

Good information, thank you for sharing. I have done Pegasys and Pegintron. Out of the two the Pegasys was easier....not easy but easier than Pegintron.

4 that Pegasys had a slightly better result 48% vs 32% than for pegintron and the side effects were basically the same. In the 2nd study for G1 &4 again pegasys had a 55% success and pegintron 40% In this second study patients without cirrhosis did quite a bit better with Pegasys (76%) than than with Pegintron(56%),,however those with cirrhosis did the same . Those with higher viral loads,also seemed to do better with Pegasys (76% than Pegintron(56%) ..

Mike I know I sent this to you in a message (my mistake) I wanted it to post so I am resending it to get some additional help from people I read your post from Feb 7th regarding no difference between Pegintron vs Pegasys saying that both meds can cause Zero viral load, but people that were on pegintron usually had worse side effects and ended up stopping treatment after 12 weeks due to safety reasons.

I have read a lot of things on our forum (dated 2007) where WBD Pegintron vs Pegasys is discussed. I weigh 56kg (123lb), so I would end up with a low dose of Pegintron (100mkg). It would probably be better for me to do Pegasys. The same with the Riba. I think I have understood the reasoning behind that, but am still wondering if GT has to do with which one is more suitable. I don't know my GT, yet.

ve done both the PegIntron RediPen and the Pegasys prefilled syringe (currently doing the Pegasys) The PegIntron RediPen looks like some space aged plastic gizmo whereas the Pegasys prefilled syringe looks like your average everyday "shot". With the RediPen you actually turn a dial at the bottom to adjust your dose and the syringe you follow the measurement markings on the syringe. The needle on the RediPen seems to be just slightly shorter.

Like mikesimon, I found PegIntron much harder on my system than Pegasys. When I treated with Pegasys I hardly noticed the flu-like symptoms. My first weeks were a breeze. In fact I had incredible energy boost the day after shot day. Fast forward several years to PegIntron. I finally knew what people were talking about with flu-like symptoms and feeling really bad. But, the fact was that I relapsed with Pegasys and the doctor wanted me to do PegIntron.

I've used both. I prefer Pegasys. The side effects were less and the pre-filled syringe was easier to handle and more convenient. Some people see it the other way. But, 3 out of 5 heppers would probably state the same preference. That's my take on seeing similar questions over time.

Is Pegasys just as good as Pegintron? My insurance refused Pegintron. Any information will be most welcome. New to the group.

Also, if you search Pegasys vs Pegintron on this or the hep c forum, you will find some answers. It seems that the two different brands hit you on different days after the shot. I was on Pegasys and it would be the worst about 3 -4 days after the shot.

You might ask your doctor to change your treatment protocol somehow; different type of interferon (Pegasys to Pegintron, perhaps). The last time you did the treatment were you fully compliant with meds; did you take the ribavirin and interferon on time as scheduled? It might benefit you to increase ribavirin dosage if possible, dependent on blood values. In short, something should probably change in regards to your medication to expect a different outcome the second treatment.
