Common Questions and Answers about Pegasys injection video

pegasys

Avatar m tn hate to blame something but I made the mistake of watching the pegasys video, the one with the black dude that is shaking when he gives himself the shot. This kind of threw me off, I should of just read the instructions and not looked at the video. I probably would have went straight in but the video emphasizes "inject at an angle". Oh well the damage is done, just hope I did not totally mess it up.
Avatar f tn Someone once posted a helpful video site on how to inject pegasys and I was wondering it there is any information on how to inject procrit. My last two hgb blood test results were 9.7 and 9.4 , so my doctor is going to order procrit for me. I am going to get procrit 40,000 units per ml per week. Is that the dose that everyone else is doing? Do you have to mix the solution or measure it out to inject ? My mind is a bit foggy these days....
Avatar f tn In regard to injection, if u pull back and see blood does it mean you hit a.capillary,or vein or what? Last week the nurse who gave me the shot did.not pull back and check for blood. If there is blood can u withdraw needle and inject in different spot in same area?
Avatar f tn First one on my own at home with instruction from NP in the office beforehand. I also watched the Pegasys video tape that came with my kit. I think it's online also but I highly recommend NOT watching it! Guy was shaking like a palm tree in a hurricane which is NOT inspiring. It is pretty funny in hindsight but kind of freaked me out at the time. Ya think they could find someone who would look comfortable!
Avatar f tn Go to the Pegasys website at http://www.pegasys.com/patient/about-chronic-hepc/what/index.html Then click on Prescribing Information on the top right hand corner. Then scroll down to pg 53. If you're using Pegasys, they should have provided a video as Mo stated, and they used to have this on their website.
Avatar m tn The nurse gave me the Pegasys injection intramuscular in my arm instead of subcutaneous? Will that have any effect on the course of treatment? Does it have the same efficacy?will I still benefit from the injection in the same intended way?

422881 tn?1257603579 I would like to avoid injecting in my thighs if possible due to the irritation at the injection site and the fact that my legs ache so massaging them would be difficult coupled with the irritation. I just took my 4th shot so no irritation there yet, but the first 2 places have a brown colored appearance and the 3rd site is still red, itches, and feels like a bad sunburn. All these splotches are not quite as big as a tennis ball.

1689583 tn?1387752394 they come preloaded at 180 mcg (1.0 mL vial or 0.5 mL prefilled syringe) . you just put the needle on and tap the air out and aim for the 10 ring. a piece of cake. it usually takes a while to feel any sides from it. for me it's usually the next day. it's just flu like for me, but not a bad one.
1084115 tn?1385228589 Please note that the needle supplied with the PEGASYS pre-filled syringe is for subcutaneous injection only and is not suitable for any other type of injection (e.g. intramuscular injection) http://www.news-medical.net/drugs/Pegasys.aspx Hopefully others will chime in and share their experiences & insight.
Avatar f tn I think you'll find that a lot of people have irritation at the injection site. There were a few things that we found to be very helpful, and which reduced the redness at the site post-injection. One, make sure you've warmed up the Pegasys between your hands before, you don't want to inject cold interferon. Also, massaging the area for a few minutes post-injection was very helpful. Once we started doing these two things, the redness went away for the most part.
1711722 tn?1356487554 I find that the injection sites start itching about a week after the injection. The injection sites also have a lot of itchy, red bumps around them. I take a Benadryl at night and apply hydrocortisone cream. I use hydrocortisone cream during the day too. It works for the injection sites. Aquaphor might work for your tummy sites. I was using just my thighs up until injections 11 and 12.
Avatar n tn My physician prescribed PegIntron and gave me my fist treatment shot (he had a supply in the office). Come to find out that even after our insurance coverage, my out of pocket expense is $973 per month or PegIntron. I simply can't afford to pay this. I did some research and found that Pegasys is comparable and my copay would be $50 per month. I am also taking Ribavirin. I do not know if I can stop the PegIntron and start the Pegasys.
335297 tn?1210597884 For Week 1, a nurse injected me to show me how Peg-Intron was administered (I had used Pegasys during my first treatment). After the first injection of Peg-Intron, I was completely immobilized with flu-type fever, chills, body-aches that lasted for about 3 days.
4705307 tn?1447970322 Your regular weekly Pegasys injection is on Monday. You remember on Friday that you forgot to take your injection on Monday (4 days late). You should inject your regularly scheduled dose immediately on Friday and take your next injection on Wednesday (5 days after your Friday dose). Your next injection will be on the Monday, 5 days later after the Wednesday injection. You are now back on your regularly scheduled day and should continue your injections every Monday.
