Pegasys hair loss

Common Questions and Answers about Pegasys hair loss

pegasys

Avatar n tn my question revolves around hair loss or thinning hair, I have been on Ribavirin & Pegasys since Dec. of last year. it has only been the last few weeks that I have really noticed the falling hair. Will this situation reverse and come back when my treatment stops? I will be on treatment until Dec of this year?
Avatar f tn My only real side effect has been hair loss and every now and then i might have a fever that makes me feel like **** for a few hours but thats about it. Nothing a pandol cant fix. I seem to get more fever on the week that i start a new box of the injections (so feel sick once a month), does that happen to anyone else? I just thought it was weird. Adamben101 are you on the same meds and do you have many side effects? Sorry to ask but i dont really talk about this with anyone else.
1087320 tn?1257895425 Most doctors will suggest antidepressants(ADs) and will start you on them before you begin treatment for the HCV. I did not take ADs, but had ativan for anxiety. I don't know of any med that will prevent the hair loss, but not everybody loses hair and it does grow back. As far as myalgia, don't worry unless/until it happens and then your doctor will have to find a liver-friendly pain med.

Avatar m tn I am on week 32 (180 mcg weekly).
678069 tn?1254422777 Does anyone know what percentage of people on this treatment experience hair loss? Ive read a lot and hair loss seems to be a pretty common side effect. But just how common is what Im wondering. I believe I can handle the other stuff (Flu-like symptoms, depression, etc). Its the hair loss thing that really has me worried. Oddly enough, I have shaved my head since I was 12. BUT, there is an obvious difference between someone shaving their head and someone who is losing their hair.
Avatar m tn I'm on week 4 and there has been some hair loss, but not much. I cut my hair short and it feels thicker. It has become very straight, dry and lifeless. Lots of product to give it some shine, without it it looks pretty flammable.
Avatar n tn @w: are you male/female? are u experience hair loss/thininng?
Avatar f tn Has anyone experianced hair loss with this treatment. My hair is very long just want to know if I should get ready mentally.
Avatar f tn Most people being treated with interferon have flu-like symptoms early on. These side effects get better with time. Later side effects, however, may include tiredness, hair loss, low blood count, trouble with thinking, moodiness, and depression. Ribavirin can cause serious anemia, or low red blood cell count. In some patients, the side effects may be so serious that treatment must be stopped.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, i'm a member of the hbv community and am on antiviral + ifn therapy (pegasys). I know the peg infn we use is the same therefore sides are supposed be the same as weel :) I was just wondering how do you manage hair loss, I'm at week 27 and notice some hair thinning but no bald spots actually. Do you suggest ancy natural drug (vitamine , hebr) to strenghten the hair?
476246 tn?1418870914 I was just wondering, as I have heard a lot that certain symptoms one has before tx, kind of get worse during tx. So if one has fatigue before tx, one is likely to get more fatigue than one would have had if one didn't suffer from fatigue pre tx. Would it be the same with i.e. hair loss or other symptoms?
1768199 tn?1323617936 horsepwr -- I am glad they are still giving them. maybe scoleman needs to call the Pegasys number and get the welcome pack. What I also liked was the Pegasys weekly diary. I kept that religiously my first treatment and refer back to it now to compare treatments. PegIntron only has some cheezy diary pages you can download and I don't like them so I made my own diary on excel and I record each pill, shot, lab, and general comments about my week.
Avatar m tn However, one has to keep in mind that hair loss does not necessarily equate to going bald. Hair loss can mean minimal hair loss, moderate hair loss, or a lot of hair loss. The other thing to keep in mind is that it is temporary. I am in my 20th week of triple med treatment. I have not lost any or much hair, possibly a couple hairs more than usual per day. However, I figure even if I do lose my hair it is better than keeping the Hep C virus. It's a choice one has to make.
Avatar f tn , fever, chills, sore throat, muscle aches). Hair loss, loss of appetite, weight loss, rash, itching, changes in taste or hearing. Tiredness and weakness (fatigue), dark urine, yellowing eyes, mental/mood changes , trouble breathing. Actually, if you look at the Pegasys Website it will give you pretty much the same sx's for Interferon: http://www.pegasys.
Avatar f tn it is a side effect, but not everyone looses their hair and the amount of hair loss differs as well. Other side effects will again depend on treatment. For peg and riba, there may be emotional/psych issues, brain fog, insomnia, nausea, hair loss, some skin issues, hemolytic anemia, low white blood cells, fatigue, a few hours after your shot you may experience some flu-like symptoms, there are a few other potential sx, and others will chime in.
Avatar m tn HBsAg loss rates were 15.4% (2/13) in Group 1, and 30% (3/10) in Group 2, whereas none achieved HBsAg loss with entecavir monotherapy (Group 3 and 4). The two-step Pegasys treatment offers an alternative, other than the nucleos(t)ides, for treating chronic hepatitis B with acute exacerbation and provides a safe, efficacious, short-term and finite strategy.
1418633 tn?1314546745 63 lac/cumm after one week of pegasys and riba. I had my 2nd shot of Pegasys today.I do understand the loss of Platelets is significant but is it something to worry about. Is there anyway i can maintain my Platelets count ?
419309 tn?1326503291 Have any of you experienced any hearing loss during treatment, with or without tinnitus? For anyone who has, was it attributed to Pegasys at all, and did your hearing return to baseline after treatment? My husband, currently on treatment, saw an audiologist today and was informed that he had as much as 80% hearing loss. I've read and re-read the Pegasys inserts but have not found any warnings about ear problems, only eye problems.
