pegasys generic

hi i am to start the tx. . pegasys and ribovirin and i called BCBS. i am to pay 50 % of the ribovirin, is there a generic for these meds. will they work the same.

I tolerated the stuff very well (Pegasys/generic riba) and had little anemia problems. Blood pressure was low and I have a little bit of kidney trouble (GRF 60 to 80) for which I take BP pills. BUT since 2004 I have had a hip replaced (in 2006) due to an accident and I know that skin infections (which could result from a rash) are dangerous with artificial hips. So, it could be that my best bet might be the drug with the anemia risk instead of the drug with the skin infection risk.

has anyone treated with Pegasys and Copegus instead of Sovaldi and Ribavarin, and if so are the results the same?

Ribavirin is now available in generic and is much more reasonable than co-pegasys or the Schering version. Then like nygirl said, you may need other medicines that are pricey if your blood counts tank. And then there are the hidden costs of lotions that cannot be ignored. I spent a fortune on lotions for rashes and dryness. In addition, the drug programs have programs, if you qualify, to help with meds.

I'm on Gabapentin also (for depression... Gab's a generic Neurontin) in combo with Paxil. I never noticed itching increase when she added Gab, but was kind of 'out of it' and bipolar like at the time. I asked about the itching and the doc said it was from the treatment (Pegasys/Ribavirin) drying out my skin so much. Got some relief by using lotion (Aveno baby - no added colors or perfumes).

There all the same as far as effectiveness comes in a generic form as well

also check hbsab antibody when hbsag is so low it appears in the blood definitely add alinia (generic nizonide500), do not consider any antiviral like entecavir or tenofovir for now, they might increase hbsag

The Part D basically only covers Generic drugs and the upper Tier drugs, such as a Pegasys (not covered until you are out of the GAP), has a HUGE co-pay. Pegasys is not a generic and as such would not be covered until you are out of the GAP. Ribavirin is generic but is an upper tier drug and has a HUGE co-pay. The new drugs will not even be included in Medicare Part D's formulary for 2011. This is the Medicare that I know and love..., not really when it comes to their drug coverage.

The nurse gave me the Pegasys injection intramuscular in my arm instead of subcutaneous? Will that have any effect on the course of treatment? Does it have the same efficacy?will I still benefit from the injection in the same intended way?

Make sure you emphasize that there are floating particles in the Pegasys. A light yellow color is normal but floating particles are not. I start pegasys in July. Are the side effects really bad? I know everyone is different.. Do most people lose some of their hair? I just wanted info from someone that has been on this.

Has anybody out there been treated with COPEGUS and PEGASYS? I saw a gastroentoligist today and he has ordered all sorts of blood work, but says if I start treatment this is what he would give me. I asked about the new VERTEX drug coming out next year and he said it probably wouldent be out that soon.

He has given two options for now to choose from Pegasys (which is unaffordable to me) and ETV. Did the sides u mentioned (specially Blood pressure fluctuations) last for one year??

is something entirely different. Are you on Peg Intron or Pegasys? Peg Intron is given weight based. Pegasys is one dose for all.
