i am a non responder,after 2 previous tratments with other interferons,now after having a liver biopsy my dr wants me to go on pegasys with copegus, he wants to prescribe the 180mcg/0.5ml shot along which is prefilled but he wants me to take some of the other prefilled shot which would make it more than the normal 180 mcg. i did not ask him exactly how much it will total cause i have doubts about this,i have never heard of this. and may just stick with the 180 once a week.

Do you know any tx for anemia caused by ribavirin other than 1) procrit or 2) greatly reducing ribavirin intake for patients on telaprevir, with pegasys, and ribavirin that will increase hemoglobin levels?

I spoke with my Dr. and because of my income they helped me apply to Pegassist through Genentech. I get all my meds at no charge but I am responsible for the cost of all lab work through the 11 months and dr. office calls.

I am on pegasys but that is because I am in a trial for a polymerase inhibitor called R7128 which is done in conjunction with Roche, who makes pegasys and copegus. The trial gives all three drugs. For what it is worth I was told by others that pegasys sides were more tolerable than PegIntron but you know what, if they are it still *****! LOL I hope this helps and welcome to the forum.

Has anybody out there been treated with COPEGUS and PEGASYS? I saw a gastroentoligist today and he has ordered all sorts of blood work, but says if I start treatment this is what he would give me. I asked about the new VERTEX drug coming out next year and he said it probably wouldent be out that soon.

Hi, I just started with Pegasys/Copegus last week, 5 hrs after the first shot I had a headache, flu-like symptoms (cold hands, muscle ache), but it went away after 8 hours or so. Just had my second shot yesterday, but didn't have any side effects at all this time. Constant side effect seems to be a general itchy feeling. But then again, this is just me - a lot of people get really, really, sick, and some of the worst side effects might not show up right away.
