2044839 tn?1331255841 I was recently tried on Zoloft and I thought the side effects I was having were withdrawls from my Effexor and new side effects from the Zoloft ... but it turned out I am allergic to the Zoloft and was having a reaction to it!
Avatar n tn How quickly did you go off the Paxil to the Zoloft? It sounds like you've got some withdrawal mixed in with side effects, especially since the Paxil is making you feel better. It's a very tough drug to quit for many people, and if you move quickly from drug to drug you don't know if it's withdrawal from the old drug or the new drug.
Avatar m tn I have been officially diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (the sort that was originally called "pure obsessional") and Generalized Anxiety Disorder over the years. Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing a huge amount of financial and job stress, such that my doctor was concerned enough to put me on Paroxetine HCL (Paxil), starting at 25mg and now 30mg. It is the first drug I have taken for treatment of my issues since 1995 when I was on Xanax for 6 months.
Avatar f tn I believe Paxil is a milder AD with fewer side effects. I was on Paxil a while ago. It took about a month for it to set in, but it worked really well for me. And my friend who is on AD currently. I wouldn't imagine it should be too difficult, because they're working on the same issue, but you may experience some hiccups as the transition takes place. I'd keep that in mind, in case you start to develop abnormal irritation or anxiety symptoms.
Avatar n tn I went from 40 mg down to 30 for two weeks with no side effects. Then down to 20 mg of Paxil with 50 mg of Zoloft. Felt nauseous and anxious . Then first day down to 10 mg of Paxil upping 100 mg of Zoloft and it was horrible. I has insomnia BAD, dizzy, flu like symptoms and hearing white noice in my head not to mention extreme hot flashes. So I went back to taking Paxil 30 mg and contacting my doc. If I am going to stop Paxil I might request a hospital stay for a week or two.
20632981 tn?1503687567 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
4981427 tn?1371670469 All meds come with possible side effects, even aspirin. The tiredness your feeling could be a side effect or it could be from having more anxiety.
Avatar n tn No, unless your doctor says to use both, Remron has lots of side effects, Ask for something like Zoloft or Wellbutrin which has the least side effects.
Avatar f tn re probably suffering start-up side effects from the Zoloft in combination with the withdrawal from Paxil. I hope it all goes away soon.
Avatar n tn You need a psychiatrist who understands these meds, not a psychologist or a regular doc. You're suffering Paxil withdrawal. Zoloft will not necessarily do anything about this, since all meds act differently in the body. Paxil is a particularly difficult med to quit; it needs to be done slowly and carefully, and switching ot another med won't necessarily help with this.
Avatar n tn My own advice would be to wean off Paxil before trying another antidepressant so you can tell which effects are withdrawal from Paxil and which are side effects of the new med. It's hard to do when you're essentially on two meds at once; even though Paxil leaves the body quickly, the brain takes a while to adapt to the cessation of these meds. But this is just my opinion.
1473147 tn?1286917921 Yes, it's safe to go back to Paxil. Both of them have side effects of weight gain, but go with what makes you feel best. Some people I know follow the glycemic index for eating - - it does work! Best wishes!!
Avatar m tn I have been on zoloft for two weeks and the side effects are still pretty bad, without any benefits (it seems like it has been two years!). (I have tried lexapro, paxil, and celexa, but zoloft was the first AD I have taken and from my first experience seemed to produce the least side effects for me (although this time seems bad). I know it takes awhile for SSRI's to get working and initial side effects are common. I started taking 25mgs for a week and have been on 50mgs for a week.
Avatar f tn I started getting panic attacks the year before last I only had two and then last year I had an episode where they kept happening. It's getting better now I see a therapist once a month but they still want to put me on medication and I'm scared to take it I had an adverse drug reaction but Celexa last June. My mom and dad finally talked me into trying that hydroxyzine which is basically Benadryl and it helps a little bit.
Avatar f tn So glad to hear that, Patsy. Yes, do discuss the Paxil w/ your Doctor. Also, plz discuss w/ your Doc how to get off the Paxil slowly. It could take a while to get off the Paxil. Aks your Doc what side-effects you might experience on Paxil, so that you're prepared to handle that. Example: when they switched me from Zoloft to Celexa my Doc did it slowly.
Avatar f tn So I was taking Paxil for the past 2 years at very low doses.. Weaned myself off, but after two weeks off it decided it wasn't the right time and went back to it due to reemerging anxiety and depression. When I reinstated it at a very low dose I got a bad reaction, I felt horrible increased anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation(for the first time in my life) and burning sensations on my scalp and hands.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed paxil and ativan originally. I tried the paxil for one day and did not like the side effects it was giving me. So I went to counseling to try and get over this without taking medications. Well a couple of weekends ago I had a really bad weekend. I went to my doctor because I was having abdominal pains and was thinking it was something serious (which is what my anxiety problem is: health concerns).
Avatar f tn but will be taking 20 mg of the Paxil in the evenings instead of the 2nd dose of Zoloft. I am curious as to what exactly the side effects will be during this transition? And how effective will it be? I am a very nervous and overly health-concious person (obviously) and am almost afraid to try it. Thank You.
Avatar m tn By reputation, Prozac and Lexapro have the least side effects. That doesn't mean much for you, though, as has already been stated, and it doesn't mean they'll work, either. Often, the better a med works, that means it's been metabolized better, and thus, alas, the more side effects. Clonazepam, by the way, is for long term use, not necessarily short term. Xanax or Ativan would be more likely to be given for short term use.
Avatar m tn I keep hearing that Zoloft will make me tired and cause me to gain weight. I also hear that it seems to have the same sexual side effects that Paxil did even though it's not as strong an SSRI as Paxil. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who has ever tried the combination of Zoloft and Wellbutrin. I'm really not in a good place in my life and I feel like I just don't have time to keep trying medications that will put me to sleep. Will the Wellbutrin help with that?
Avatar f tn 5 mg and had stressful events occur and had break through non stop severe anxiety/panick disorder. He then tried to switch me over to lexapro which I was on paxil for 17 yrs and started having withdrawls I though and asked him to put me back on paxil. So he was not happy about it but he did. I seem to get a liottle better the first day I took 12.5mg of paxil and no lexapro.
Avatar m tn I also was taking Paxil and I switched because I gained 30lbs and had the shakes and some other weird side effects. I went on Effexor 37.5mg and did very well on it.
324184 tn?1308076203 Thats exactly what happened to me with Zoloft. How long were you on Paxil, any side effects for you?
429949 tn?1224691579 Has anyone had any problems with the SSRI Paxil. Any visual problems or side effects after starting this medicine?
