paxil

Avatar f tn Today makes for 16 days with no paxil. I quit cold turkey. I know, shouldn't have done that, but I did. Just to let you know, my doctor is aware because I saw him Monday. I am still having some "zapping" in the head and tingles in the lips. My newest withdrawl symptom is CRYING ALL THE TIME! Just emotional - not- upset. It feels so good to feel again. I had no idea how I lost myself in myself. My heart goes out to everyone I see. Happy tears mostly.
Avatar n tn I have been on paxil for a year now and I have gained 16 pounds. I started it for PMDD and it did help. I was crying with every period and throwing up, also panic attacks. So I went to my doctor and asked for wellbutrin hopeing I could lose weight and quit sleeping all the time on the paxil. But it has been 2 weeks now and my period started 2 days into it I am crying , feel like pukeing. Will this help me???
Avatar m tn I find myself to have hit a road block. I am currently on 40 mg of Paxil since about last July ( started at 10mg 16 years ago) and 0.5 mg of klonopin which has not changed since beginning it 16 yrs ago. The first major roadblock I hit since anxiety showing its ugly head in 1999 was in 2009 where for months my stomach was in constant pain and I was in constant anxiety, all went away gradually though.
Avatar m tn Then Christmas comes I get the flu and boom goes my anxiety so with the New Years thought it might be best to try this switch since everytime I was getting sick I was having to increase paxil dosage. So my schedule to get off paxil and onto lexapro is as follows. I am also taking a 1/2 pill of .5mg Ativan nightly to help me sleep. Week 1 Paxil 30mg. Week 2 Paxil 20mg. Lexapro 5mg. Week 3 Paxil 10mg. Lexapro 10mg. Week 4 Lexapro 10mg.
Avatar f tn I have tried Prilosec reglan Zantac Zyrtec At one point was out back on Paxil then tried Lexapro. This began again 2 weeks ago and I have lost 16 lbs with no appetite and inability to eat a whole meal. I go to bed fearing that the cycle will return again every morning and sure enough it does. I have considered going back on Lexapro or paxil so I can maybe eliminate the anxiety It feels like I have awful epigastric pain that awakens me with the trembling usually around 3am.
Avatar n tn I have been on paxil for 16 years at an average dose of 15 mg/day. I have been as high as 40 mg/day during high anxiety periods. I went completely off of it a couple of times only to have to go back on because of anxiety. The last time I tried going off of paxil, I was down to 5 mg per day for a couple of months. I then went completely off for over a month. I then had a very bad panic attack that came right out of the blue. I decided on my own to go back on the drug.
Avatar m tn I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.5) Everywhere I read its just "keep waiting it out. It will get better." My doc wants me to raise to paxil cr 50mg on Monday if I don't start feeling any better. That is double the old dose I was at that worked for so long! It just scares me to keep going up. I recently tried Lexapro and it was a disaster. I just need some positive feedback.
Avatar m tn I told him Im still very depressed/anxious something Ive suffered with for the past 16 years. I was on Paxil a long time ago and it did nothing for me. From what he said, this is nothing like Paxil but more like Effexor. Also said it might help with the lack of energy. So my question to everyone is...has anyone taken it. Successsfull? Hope every one is well.
Avatar m tn The 24 people in the single-dose group and the 16 in the multiple-dose group averaged 43.8 years in age (range 26 to 55). Overall, 55% were women and 45% men, and everyone was Chinese. Only 2 of 40 participants—1 in the single-dose group and 1 in the multiple-dose group—had never taken medications for HBV infection. HBsAg levels averaged 3358.8 IU/mL across groups but were not reported for the 6-mg/kg single- and multiple-dose groups. Maximum drop in serum HBsAg averaged 0.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Paxil for social anxiety. I get hot very quickly and after any small situation where i am dealing with people, i feel myself going red. Anyhow, i have found they somewhat help my situation, but they have caused me to gain some weight. I have come off the tablets, do you think i will lose the weight? And is there any similar medication i can take that does not cause weight gain?
2044839 tn?1331255841 i have been on paxil for the past 16 years. When i first went on it, i had similiar side effects. your body has to get use to it before it starts working. It has worked for me once i was on it for about a month. I started at 10 mgs per day and couldnt sleep when I was initially on it.
Avatar f tn My doc prescribed Paxil 10mg to take at night, He refused to up my Klonopin to 2mg/day so I have to stick with 1/day it's to prevent panic attacks and balance out the anxiety Wellbutrin is causing me. I hear so many stories about people gaining weight while on Paxil, it scares me! I'm not sure if I even want to take it. Please share your experiences, Thanks!
2066926 tn?1331172123 ve been on Paxil for 16 years at a low dose. I weaned myself completely off of it about 8 years ago with no sideeffects. However, a couple of month later, I had a full blown panic attack for no reason at all. I went back on it up to 40 mgs until the anxiety went away. Then backed off to 20 mg and have been on it ever since. Whenever I tried getting off of this medication, with the exception of what I wrote above, I've always had some sort of withdraw symptoms. Dizzyness easpecially.
Avatar f tn I was recently hospitalized for a depression episode for 7 days and the psychiatrist I saw in the hospital who was the on-call psychiatrist took me off of my wellbutrin cold-turkey( I had been on it for 3 months) and took me off of 60mg of pexeva(paxil), that I had been on for a year, in 3 days.
Avatar f tn I now have been prescribed Paxil by a new doctor (moved to a new state) and he wants me to try Paxil. I understand that once you start taking it you have to take it for the rest of your life, is that true for you?? And also was this the first and only med you had tried?? I really would like to know if there are other meds, out there that won't cause seizures, and bad withdrawal symptoms, that are as close to natual as possible. I don't like taking meds.
358304 tn?1409709492 After years and years (I am 34 but had issues since I was 16) my doctor put me on Paxil. I have to take the CR version since I high metabolize the regular version. It has helped greatly, but I am also resigned to the fact that I will probably be on it for the rest of my life. Keep up the great communication with your doctor! Together you will come to a solution that is right for you!
Avatar m tn Over the last 6 months I have been experiencing a huge amount of financial and job stress, such that my doctor was concerned enough to put me on Paroxetine HCL (Paxil), starting at 25mg and now 30mg. It is the first drug I have taken for treatment of my issues since 1995 when I was on Xanax for 6 months. I started forgetting to take my pill over the last week or two, and over last weekend just gave up on it, because I just don't feel it's doing anything productive.
Avatar n tn hi my name is jessie,i have had a panic/anxiety disorder for 7 years, the first 5 i was on 10mg of paxil, then 15mg for 2 years, and as of 16 days ago it all came back for the first time in 7 years so my doc put me up to 30mg but im having good days and bad days, why is that, shoudnt i just proggressivly keep getting better, why the set backs, its been 16 days now,and im still feeling crazy
Avatar n tn I wish I could find that psych that prescribed it to me back when I was 16 and scream at him. Over the years Paxil has seemed to stop working for me and the wonderful doc's soultion was always, "Well...let's up the dose" and then "Well...let's try the controlled release formula. Well this fall my panic attacks got so bad that I was calling in sick to work and found myself becoming very agoraphobic so my psych recommended i switch meds.
Avatar f tn Greetings Nootie (and board) I've been absent here for sometime, battling my own hepatic (and related, unrelated health demons)... Forgive me... It is my opinion, that many drugs (and environmental toxins, preservatives, western diets, etc) can contribute over both the short and long duration of exposure, towards hepatic problems. Both my brother and I have taken SSRI antidepressants for a long time, and we both have fatty liver and other issues.
Avatar n tn Paxil is strong, one of the stronger SSRIs and can be very difficult to get off of. I am taking Paxil and have been for the past 16 years. I started off at 10 mg then 20mg then 40 mg. Paxil has worked for me most of the time in addition to a very low dose of Klonopin both of which I take in the morning. You should not have to suffer. Is your doctor a psychiatrist ? If not see one who understands this type of med.
Avatar n tn the eye that is problematic that you describe starting paragraph 2, are you talking about the Left technis ZC or the RE Symphony? Once I understand I will answer.
Avatar n tn Wow, you are so much like me. I have had anxiety since I was 16. I had no idea what it was when I was in school. I seemed to get by okay for years, with my anxiety only affecting me when I would be in certain situations. A few years back, I was perscribed lexapro and then effexor and I stopped taking both because I was afraid of how it would effect me.
Avatar n tn I've tried to get off Paxil recently and had the WORST problems. After researching and talking to people who have gotten off (or tried to get off) of the drug I am horrified that Paxil is still being prescribed. I am also AMAZED that a DOCTOR would actually say that this isn't dangerous, or that it isn't the PAXIL!?!? Are you kidding? How much were you paid to say that? Paxil DID help with my panic attacks. Did not cure or stop them, but helped.
Avatar f tn I have been on paxil for about 16 years at a low dose (10 mg) but i ahve been as high as 40 mg. It worked very well for years so I began to drop back on the dosage. Occassionally, during stressfull periods, I get anxiety real bad. When that happens, I increase my dosage. Like you, I worry about everything imaginable. I have even worried about my wife like you do your boyfriend. That too is rediculous. However, anxiety is a very tricky customer. You actually believe what you think.
Avatar f tn First, if you're on any drug such as benzos or neurontin that target GABA don't take this. Second, GABA supplements don't usually cross the blood/brain barrier, so they don't usually work. The best way to supplement for GABA, assuming you're not on medication that targets it, is to take the pseudo amino acid taurine and B6, which together with other co-factors make GABA in the body.
