Common Questions and Answers about Paxil zapping

paxil

944223 tn?1245869858 Dear men and women.I am a 27 year old male diagnosed with ADHD twice at two different hospitals. I went to hospitals because I knew I had some issue when I would lash out at people due to my impatientness among other things I knew really weren't me. I waited awhile because I wasnt sure if it was ptsd or not.But looking back, and having my Gifted/Talented teacher tell me i was the same in elementary, i knew it may have been add/adhd.
Avatar f tn Today makes for 16 days with no paxil. I quit cold turkey. I know, shouldn't have done that, but I did. Just to let you know, my doctor is aware because I saw him Monday. I am still having some "zapping" in the head and tingles in the lips. My newest withdrawl symptom is CRYING ALL THE TIME! Just emotional - not- upset. It feels so good to feel again. I had no idea how I lost myself in myself. My heart goes out to everyone I see. Happy tears mostly.

Avatar m tn I quit taking paxil cold turkey about a week ago and now have been going through hell on earth! Nightmares, hallucinating, diahrrea, dizziness, zapping spells through my whole body, shakiness, crying, etc. I wish I never started taking them in the first place! I gained 40 pounds in the six months I took paxil, and my sex drive has dissappeared 100%! I feel like I am walking through water all day day long.
Avatar f tn I have been weaning off of Paxil for a week now. I was prescribed Paxil as a smoking cessation substitute for Wellbutrin which was giving me side effects that included rapid heart palputations, etc. Hence, after 7 years of refills of Paxil, I was still smoking, drinking more alcohol, eating more and was very complacent in this world of overindulgence. I decided it was time to "WAKE UP" again; before I became an oversized alcoholic.
Avatar n tn I started my switch from Paxil (30mg) to Zoloft a week ago. I've been on Paxil for 6-7 years. I have always struggled with Paxil withdrawals after just one dose ('wooshing' 'zapping' etc etc). Since I HATE the withdrawals, and the Paxil just wasn't 'working' anymore and since my husband and I are trying to get pregnant, I decided to switch to a different medication.
Avatar m tn Wow so relieved to see others having issues with brain zaps. It's scary and sometimes I feel like my eyes have pressure and want to pop out, but its not a pain, just a constant numb sort of annoyance. My fingers and toes are cold most of the time as well.
Avatar m tn I am also in the process of coming off the generic brand of paxil also....I was at 50 mg for 15 years....it was a lifesaver for me, but of course it affects everyone differently. I just felt that it was time for me to come off....I was feeling stronger and better about myself and wanted to take this step...and i did it under doctor supervision...however, I also hit that brick wall from going from 20mg down to 10mg.....the jitters have come back, anxiety and irritability.
Avatar n tn During the day I get shocking sensations on my right hand. Life is someone is zapping me. I have to shake my hand to make it go away. What is it? and how do I get rid of it.
Avatar f tn This is not a new symptom for me but it is getting worse and wonder if anyone else experiences this and has any suggestions for relief. I get electrical zapping inside my legs. Feels like a little man is inside there shooting electrical zaps. It is especially bad at night and disrupts sleep. Last night it was so bad my legs r still sore today. I have told my neurologist about it and he always says its part of ms and not much can be done. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn U don't take, or have recetly stpped the drug paxil?
Avatar n tn kinda like when you get cold quickly and shiver but very intense. This could be like the tremors or zapping that i have read others complain about, but i am unsure. So I guess my question is really- what exactly do those of you that have had them mean by the tremors or brain/body zapping? I have also had weight issues my whole life, but up unitl I started taking effexor I could always lose weight with some dieting and exercise; now no matter what i do i can't lose- instead i gain.
Avatar n tn i have been told i need zapping to get my heart into correct rhythm does this really work ? will i be able once again be able to do all the things i used to do with out difficulty .
Avatar f tn For years I have had weird zapping type sensations (sort of like a bug zapper goes off in the summer) that go off in my head. Most of the time they are just annoying but occasionally it will be a strong zap and sometimes there's noise like a metal pole landing on concrete. I don't have medical insurance so I haven't had any MRIs, scans or neurologic workups done but my doctor and chiropractor both dismissed me as crazy. Any one else experiencing something like this?
561393 tn?1320962815 t know if I should just keep trying and then when I get pregnant again start meds to control my thyroids and then after birth (if I ever make it to that) then zap them. Or should I listen to my doctor and do the zapping??? Please help me. Also if I do the zapping then that will make me hypo which means under active which cause infertility (I know right now me and my husband have no problem getting pregnant very fertile).
Avatar m tn Hey everyone, I lost my virginity to the current partner I've been with about 4 months ago. She has never had any symptoms of HSV, though I know that doesn't mean that much, but she's had seven partners before me (though two were virgins, and a few more were one-night stands w/ condoms).
Avatar m tn I have had 3 episodes of zapping behind my right eye and then feeling very tired. I went to the dr on 11/14/11. He said it is probably opthalmic migraines. I still felt ok, except for those 3 weird episodes from the end of October until 11/14/11. Then on 11/16/11 I woke up absolutely exhausted, no energy, extreme brainfog, very weak, nauseous. This has been a constant feeling since then. Today is Nov. 21 2011.
Avatar n tn I've tried to get off Paxil recently and had the WORST problems. After researching and talking to people who have gotten off (or tried to get off) of the drug I am horrified that Paxil is still being prescribed. I am also AMAZED that a DOCTOR would actually say that this isn't dangerous, or that it isn't the PAXIL!?!? Are you kidding? How much were you paid to say that? Paxil DID help with my panic attacks. Did not cure or stop them, but helped.
Avatar f tn I’ve been getting these painful stabbing pins and needles sensation for several months. It’s always worsened by heat. Sometimes I feel a quick zapping sensation in my lower spine. It’s not just my extremities; the tingling can be all over my chest, stomach, back, or pretty much all over my body. Sometimes if I’m exercising I’ll get pins and needles all over but if I push through the symptoms they’ll start to dissipate.

Avatar m tn I recently came off Venlafaxine after 20years, I did it over a period of four months as I was on 75mg morning and 150mg at night, and getting zapping noises like electric noise you get when combing your hair a lot. Now after coming off it, I am still getting a zapping noise in my head, can you tell me if this noise will go and when; as I have been off it for 8days now?
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar f tn could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I know it's not dangerous since that is what the cardiologists have told me but I'm experiencing extreme anticipatory anxiety as to when my heart will speed up again and that something is going to happen to me, such as fainting or dying.
Avatar n tn Can I quit the paxil and take the klonopin 3 x a day as prescribed and safely get off Paxil. I am getting fat!
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
