Common Questions and Answers about Paxil with ambien

paxil

774736 tn?1311331385 My shrink put me on Paxil (antidepressant) and Ambien (sleep pill) and Klonopin (anxiety). I was weaned off Ambien after 6 mos. but kept on Paxil and Klonopin (as needed). These really helped me through. But be careful on Paxil , because it is very hard to wean off. Talk to your psychiatrist and see what's best for you. Any antidepressant will have side effects.
Avatar m tn There were no instructions to wait taking the Paxil, so it should be alright to take the half a pill tomorrow? She also gave me Ambien CR instead, which is pricey. With my 10% copay it was 18.00 for 30..... 6 bucks a pill if the total is 180.00.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I took my first dose of Paxil. I was prescribed 20 mg but only took half. I took it around 6 pm. I have been feeling really sick all night and morning. I have diarrhea, severe nausea, dizziness, INCREASED anxiety, shaking and insomnia. It's weird because I feel sleepy but everytime I almost fall asleep I have severe anxiety feeling in my sleep and wake up shaking or I have weird dreams. Is all of this normal?
Avatar m tn She has also prescribed Ambient for sleeping, but I am scared to take anymore drugs, is anyone out there using sleeping pills along with paxil.
Avatar f tn We all can respond to these meds differently. I did great on Paxil. It started working within a week. The first few days were kind of hard with dizziness and nausea but that went away. I would have stayed on Paxil but I gained a lot of weight. Before I was on this med I had a problem with not eating and after I stared taking it I was so relaxed all I wanted to do was eat. All I can recommend is giving Paxil a couple of weeks to kick in.
Avatar f tn Also, I've been prescribed Ambien for chronic insomnia and Paxil for anxiety. Been on both for about 6 months now. Not sure of this plays a role in my new symptoms or if it's Neurological, or something else altogether?
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I'm looking for help and hope! I have been on lexapro and saphris for about 9 months, and was on paxil for about a year before that. I have always had insomnia with ssri's so that is why I take the Saphris....usually a 1/4 of a 5 mg tablet would put me to sleep within a 1/2 hour or so. I recently slowly weaned off lexapro over the last month, but when I got down to nothing I started having horrible insomnia (even with the Saphris).
Avatar f tn After Ambien and Lunesta quit cold on me (due to the hormone change), I have been taking 1 ambien and 150 mg. of Trazadone for 3 nights now. I started with one Ambien and 50 mg. of Trazadone, then second night, I couldn't sleep so my regular doctor said to adjust dosage to 1 Ambien and 100 mg.. Third night I had to use 1 ambien and 150 mg. of Trazadone according to doctor's prescription of 1 to 3 tablets of Trazadone.
968560 tn?1307451498 im think about asking him for ultram(tramadol) for the back pain. is anybody familiar with this med for pain? he is giving me ambien 10mg for sleep. i don want to get addicted to anything.
662361 tn?1225334507 Yes, I had been on various different anti-depressants (Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin) at different times in my early 20's to mid-20's as a result of "situational depression" (I was in a Domestic Violence marriage at the time.) The Effexor and then later, Wellbutrin (along w/ Ambien) was Rx'd after a BAAaaaaaad reaction to Prednisone.
Avatar f tn I have been in Ambien for a few months now. I am a recovring alcoolic. I have social anxiety disorder, anic disorder, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. I am taking 60 mg Paxil at night, 15 mg of Buspar 3 times a day, a thyroid pill, Neurontin for back pain, and have tried Trazodone, Remeron, Seroquel, Cymbalta, all of em for slsep. Nada. I can't fall asleep at all but I really, really have to be waken up in almost an ice cold pool of water to wake up.
Avatar n tn Try by just reducing it to half and taking an over the counter sleep aide. I was on ambien for 4 years. I wanted to get off that and paxil. I got off the paxil which I was on for 12 years. It took me 2 months of withdrawal which was for me, a lot of anxiety. By the way I also went off the xanax by reducing it to half a pill. I did this for about a year until I finally went from that to half a pill every other day to twice a week and finally to only when I needed that half.
Avatar m tn The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects. I was then put on regular paxil 40 mg daily and I constantly had the eye zaps and strong depersonalization feelings like I was in a constant withdrawal. I was then switched to Lexapro 20 mg.
Avatar m tn I am starting up Paxil for a second time (first time was in 2003) and I recall having trouble with staying asleep the first time around when first starting up. It certainly is the problem now. I have just finished the second week on 10mg and I can fall asleep easily with 5mg or 10mg Ambien, but I now wake with a start in just a few hours, then I can't get back to sleep for the night. Very frustrating and exhausting. Is this the norm? How long will it last??
653169 tn?1303446369 I have generalized anxiety and Insomnia that are usually well controlled, but lately are not. I have not slept hardly at all for 3 days. I've gotten 1-2 total hours on average a night with no REM sleep. My anxiety is terrible, and the longer I don't get adequate sleep the worse its getting. I take ambien and klonopin 1mg twice daily. Has anyone got any suggestions? I would appreciate anyone's comments or further questions.
Avatar n tn I am a 31 year old health female living in NY. I was diagnosed with tourettes yrs ago(I was about 11). I used to have it bad including vocal tics like grunting.I went to a neurologist when I was this age and she told my mom that I would most likely grow out of it which for the most part I did and I never went on meds.
Avatar m tn Ambien CR costs $200 versus $6 for the regular stuff. We did talk about it, and I wanted it, but at $200 a month it just ain't gonna happen. So I'm sticking with the Ambien for now. I don't really want to take higher dosages of temazepam. And like you say, getting off of ambien isn't that difficult, just a bit time consuming as you ramp down the dosage.
Avatar m tn You really need to discuss this with your physician. Some people do find it helpful to alternate sleep medications. Temazepam is usually used to help patients stay asleep for longer periods, however, since it is considered more addictive, it isn't always prescribed by sleep specialists. If you felt like the Ambien worked better, you may want to ask your doctor about the extended release version because that may help you stay asleep longer.
1035021 tn?1296820707 Hi all, I just stop taking paxil (30 mg a day) about 4 days ago, I have been taking this drug since 1 a year ago, I had to stop taking it cause right now Im low on budget and I maybe be able to buy another bottle of the medication in 2 or 3 more days. The thing is that I had in my medikit a bottle of prozac (fluoxetine) and a few months ago I bought a bottle of 5HTP so I started to take a capsule of 5HTP and a 20mg pill of prozac since paxil went empty.
Avatar n tn 12 years ago there was a class action lawsuit do to the impossibility of getting off it without withdrawals that actually killed a few people. Please see a good psychiatrist to help you with this. There is a website on Paxil tapering... It may take a year but you have to see a doctor who knows about Paxil and ssri wd, not all drs are knowledgable in this.
Avatar f tn I have been on Imipramine for 6 years although not diagnosed with fibro. My neurologist put me on it for chronic tension headaches. But have also had fibro symptoms for 6 years. This medication kept the symptoms under control. I started having an increased heart rate and heart palpations about 3 months ago and went off the medication. My neurologist moved his office, so I went to a new family doctor. He still has not diagnosed me with fibro, and is running test.
Avatar f tn NO!!! you are still 16 days.....just be very carefull with the ambiem.... congrats on 16 days!!!
Avatar f tn Paxil (daily), Lorazepam (0.5 irregularly), Ambien (when needed)... Major problem: adrenaline surges when falling asleep - no apparent reason... can happen anytime during the night, early morning... leaves me jittery, burning, on edge the next day...with intermittent anxiety rushes.... I don't worry about anything other than my anxiety symptoms.... any ideas? Very difficult for me to work... or accomplish anything right now...
Avatar m tn That can probably be used with Paxil, but you have to be careful combining it with tranquilizers like Zanax and klonopin and valium. The amino acid taurine makes GABA in the body. You can take inositol but the studies that showed it working for anxiety used a lot! It's just part of the B complex, but be careful you keep up your levels of choline and phostatidyl serine, as they are in balance with inositol. Complicated no?
