Paxil with abilify

Common Questions and Answers about Paxil with abilify

paxil

Avatar f tn This is complicated, especially since you haven't said what your drug history is. The first question to me is whether the Paxil was working or not. If it wasn't, then augmenting it with Abilify probably wasn't the best approach -- changing the medication would be. Of course, getting off Paxil is difficult. Generally, you augment a medication when it's working but just not quite well enough, or when nothing you tried worked.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've been on paxil for about 4 yrs,for my anxiety and depression, it has worked wonders for my anxiety, but lately my depression has got worse and just feeling uneasy, unmotivated. I go to my doctors in a couple of days and want to try a new depression med,but am afraid my anxiety will come back. What meds should I try. Ive been on Lexapro twice first time it worked quit it and started it again when I had my first anxiety issues, didn't work for my depression.
Avatar m tn My Doctor prescribed me Abilify as an enhancer for my Paxil/Xanax cocktail. Long story short, I was taking 2mg of abilify once a day. Recently My Insurance decided they were going to be the Doctor and my funding for the Abilify ran out. I am not going to pay $543.00 for meds can't afford it and think that price is ludicrous. So now I am in cold turkey wean from Abilify. I know that I won't die from this, I know that my anxiety will increase big time.
Avatar n tn He took himself off the Abilify and is still trying to make do with Paxil. What should we do? Do we try another medicine? Do we go back to Lexapro since we know it works even though it only seems to help for about 6 months? Is it safe to switch medications every six months when his body gets used to it? Is it possible that going back to Lexapro and adding Abilify could do the trick long term?
Avatar f tn I happen to take 4.5 mg. of Klonopin and 90 mg. of Cymbalta -- this combination of drugs has worked for me for a good number of years. In December my Doctor did increase my Klonopin by .5 mg. because I was just diagnosed with kidney cancer -- which did cause a wee bit of anxiety (cancer free now - thankfully - going on four months now!). The increase worked pretty good. I also have Ativan as PRN. If I happen to begin to get anxious, I can either swallow or place one under my tongue...
Avatar f tn Abilify can be used to augment antidepressants such as Lexapro. I use Lamictal to augment my Pristiq and it works much better than just the Antidepressant alone. Combining SSRI's or SNRI's with mood stabilizing drugs such as Abilify or Lamictal can often help a lot. Although they do take a good few weeks to kick in. In the past I have taken just about every drug you mentioned above, but I am supprised that your doctor has never tried you on an SNRI such as Effexor XR or Pristiq.
Avatar f tn My son has been taking paxil for a year now. He also started taking abilify 5mg and deplin 7.5mg in December. He has been experiencing muscle twitching for a month now so his doctor took him down to 2.5mg of abilify and them completly off the end of last week. He is still noticably twitching in his upper body and face. Could the deplin be causing this or does it just take a while for the ability to get out of his system. Do you think the twitching will go away?
Avatar f tn I've been out of work and am no longer able to afford my abilify and effexor. I've slowly stopped taking both to the point that I am no longer taking them. However yesturday I got a low grade headache and started vomitting. At first I thought it was a flu but now feel it's withdrawal from effexor. T oday I was sick to my stomach and had a headache, but I also had my tongue in such pain I could barely eat. Is this symptoms of withdrawal from effexor?
800339 tn?1270433486 HI, I can totally relate to the elevated mania with the Abilify. I had a bad reaction to Paxil and had extreme anxiety and panic attacks with irritability so they put me on Seraquel. Was not the drug for me! After 4 days on the Seraquel it had the reverse effect similar to your Abilify experience and it made me very manic and constantly anxious. My Doctor then said try Adivan to get you back on a normal playing field and to deal with the Anxiety. It's been a miracle drug!
Avatar n tn He took himself off the abilify and is still trying to make do with Paxil. What should we do? Do we try another medicine? Do we go back to Lexapro since we know it works even though it only seems to help for about 6 months? Is it possible that going back to Lexapro and adding Abilify could do the trick? I'm at a loss and just want my husband to be happy so that I can be happy!
1912569 tn?1485015929 s like for others. Is this what you have to deal with? I took Paxil in teen years for depression but it just made it worse.
Avatar n tn My daughter is currently taking a combination of depakote, lamictal, and abilify for a mood disorder. However, her doctor feels the overwhelming problem with her is an anxiety disorder that is not being addressed by the current meds. The doctor wants to ween her off the lamictal completely and start her on klonopin wafers. I am concerned about the "drowsiness" side effects. Do these eventually go away?
Avatar n tn I have been taking the lexapro for almost 2 weeks now for anxiety/panic. After 4 days of just half a dose (5mg) I felt really strange and depressed. Alittle better now, but still down more so then before the lexapro. Is this something that goes away once you're on the med for awhile? I already had severe anxiety with panic, I don't want to add deppression on because of the meds, if this is the case. Now the dr. wants me to try the 5 mg of lexapro and 2.
Avatar m tn I would give Remeron a shot before trying Abilify as Remeron is supposed to have reduced side effects compared to several other antidepressant and you are subject to less interactions.
400867 tn?1371753094 Thank goodness for you, Ryan. I am quite alarmed by the amount of posts that I've been reading from people whose physicians are putting them on antipsychotics when a medication with a much safer side effect profile is indicated and their diagnosis is for things like OCD and anxiety. Once I saw tardive dyskinesia, it frightened the hell out of me...Clearly, no one should take an antipsychotic unless their condition warrants it.
Avatar f tn Weight gain is a known common side-effect of Abilify. I have attended inservices with Abilify marketers where weight management techniques (diet and exercise) were emphasized. As suggested, speak with your doctor about it. If it becomes a problem, maybe a weight-neutral antidepressant (Wellbutrin, for example) would be equally effective. However, it's important to continue to take the meds as prescribed while discussing your concerns with your MD.
Avatar f tn I was on Paxil, Effexor, and now Celexa. Do not take Paxil, it was a nightmare for me and many other people. i gained 40 lbs, lost all of my energy and could not get out of bed too often. I tried to whean off it Paxil but did it too fast and ended up in the hospital where the doctor told me there was nothing he could do for me. Then I switched to Effexor and became suicidal. After 2 months I switched to Celexa. Celexa is the cousin to Laxapro w/o that manyside effects.
Avatar m tn I just spoke to my doctor about starting Zoloft and I'm so freaked out that I think I'm going to lose my mind! First off I went through the horror of the Paxil withdrawals and I hear that Zoloft is also very hard to get off of. I seem to have issues with anxiety and depression and my doctor seems to think that this will help with both of the issues as Paxil seemed to. Here's the catch though, when I was taking Paxil it totally killed my sex drive and made me very tired.
Avatar m tn I saw a doctor, told I have panic disorder (I think I have Agoraphobia too, but I was not told that) and was prescribed Paxil, with Xanax as needed. I took the Paxil for a few years, making a few dosage changes along the wayI never needed to take a Xanax and I didn't have any panic attacks, but it made me more depressed and lethargic over time. I also too it with Wellbutrin for about a year but didn’t feel any benefits from that. I was then put on Effexor.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking paxil, Xanax, and abilify and my panic attacks have gone from bad, to worse, to really f'ing bad that I can hardly even drive. My wife and I are trying buy a house and we are expecting our second child. however I have nothing else going on in my life to stress me out this bad. I don't know what to do. I have recently started seeing a therapist as well as psychiatrist. My bloodwork continues to come back good aside from a small abnormal thyroid.
Avatar f tn Is there ne body taking risperdal tegertol Paxil and propranolol....those are what I'm taking for my bipolar and panic attacks plus bp.... I hate taking this medication everyday.....I Wish I could Stop taking all of it.....I hate being bipolar.... my life seems to get worse each year that passes and my episodes more intense.... help is there ne body out there to talk to!?
Avatar f tn There is no reason you can't take Abilify with Zoloft. I take Abilify with several other medications. It started working within 2 weeks and my depression decreased dramatically. One common side effect of Abilify is akathisia, a restless need to move. I have that but added propranolol and it stopped it completely with no other side effects.
